War with the UK would be simple from a conventional weapons perspective . US carrier groups would quickly overwhelm UKs home defenses and then UK would be left deciding to go nuclear or not. A US invasion would prompt a nuclear strike I suspect. Which is why it will never happen. UK and USA will never go to war whilst both are nuclear powers.

By the 1920s, tensions were rising noticeably between Great Britain and America. The British, having heard of the ambitious American naval building programme, were keen on maintaining their centuries-long naval supremacy. Despite emerging from WWI with one foot in bankruptcy, the Cabinet and Parliament were prepared to push British shipbuilding and financial reserves to new heights to match it. Even King George V gave his early support and it was even suggested that iHis Majesty use his Royal Prerogative to seize full control of the Empire's financial capacity to help pay for the new arms race.

Wasn't helped by all the KZbinrs saying, "What's really happening in France..." and they were spewing garbage. @@RabbiHerschel you clearly know nothing of the country in which I live. It is my pleasure to point out that white and non-white immigrants combined, only make up less than 10% of the French population, therefore less than 1 in 10 people. For the most part, these immigrants do their jobs, feed their families, and nothing changes. And no, religion is not a valid point because you can't legally preach religion in a public area, and there are more atheists than muslims in France, regardless. Personally I don't know many immigrants past the third generation who stay religious be they christians or muslims, or many immigrants at all for that matter considering how low the percentage of immigration actually is. Anyone who says immigrants are taking over the country is speaking out of their arse and simply trying to pin blame on a specific group to instill fear, which is a means of controlling a population. Oh, and did I forget to mention that there have been hundreds upon hundreds of waved of immigrants for the last 2000 years of History? Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

@@aryanbhuta3382 also, York (what would become toronto) only had under 1,500 people and while the Americans had a clear victory the town wasn't really important in military terms and they didn't cripple the provincial marines in lake ontario. Washington DC had over 10 times the population of York at over 15,000. while york was a reason for retaliation it was mainly for the raid on port dover not because of any crippling factors but because John Campbell destroyed private property which both sides considering wrong so the British mainly wanted to destory american private property in return (maybe something like the presidents house) Effective or not it was the Capital of the Country and Burning their buildings to avenge for the Americans burning their buildings would have been a morale improvement for the brits and a morale depleter for the Americans, a thing that would forever be see as a main event in the war and basically the 19th century equivalent of 9/11 for the Americans. Some arson and looting in an unincorporated municipality in British Canada was _Nothing_ compared to the burning of major governing buildings and national symbols of a nation, it was so huge the British didn't even to kill civilians, they barely looted and they didn't destroy every special building despite having the perfect opportunity too (the only exception being captians levying protection money civilians in return for protecting buildings). Heck, it was so huge that burn marks can still be seen on the white house and capitol building, the reason the white house is called the "white house" and not the presidential house anymore is because during the rebuilding they painted it white to mask the burn marks Which is more then can be said about the Americans who virtually destroyed york and led to the evacuation/death of over half of the population despite only really needing to kick out the British and maybe take some artillery pieces as it was basically a village back then and destroying it didn't really matter. Also, unlike york it was less strategic and more "ha ha White house burning go brrrrrrr" for the British as it was in revenge and it was more of a victory party to the larger British win of the battle Bladensburg which was called "the greatest disgrace ever dealt to American arms" and despite the Americans winning york outnumbered ~3-1 the British won Bladensburg outnumbered ~5-1 In Summary while it's easy to look at the war of 1812 as a great power drawing with a country of farmers In a humiliating way and say the Americans also burnt toronto it's a lil more complicated. Keep in mind Britain was fighting Napoleon and his allies which essentially ment Britian was fighting most of Europe so the fact that they were able to claim a draw still showed power. York is only remembered because it was the predecessor of Toronto but it wasn't strategically important, the arson didn't really have a point as it was supposed to be strategic and it wanst even the main reason for the burning of Washington. Even then both reasons aren't really remembered in Canada today. Washington DC was the Capital of a nation and had a FAR larger population, the British didn't just destroy a few buildings because that was they only thing they could Do, it was because: A) it was pretty much for the Americans destroying British private property so while you could say they only destroyed a few buildings at the same time the Americans did except when Britian did it, it was _Vastly- more important B) it was so huge that they really didn't need to do anything more, the burning of the white house alone was enough to spit in America's face so why bother destroying the whole place if you have already done what you wanted (the Americans didn't ask themselves that question when committing arson and looting on some town on a lake). C)it was mainly just for retaliation for the private property destruction, the British had already won the larger battle of Bladensburg, Washington was just to pour salt into American wounds If Napoleon Never came to power, britian likely would have won the war as they wouldn't be distracted and this time France couldn't bankrupt itself again to save America, heck without Napoleon Spain would have been able to send more forces to help the British as they also fought in the war of 1812 but were busy being occupied by Napoleon so yeah without him 2 empires would have been able to fully crash down on a farmer country. TL, DR: you are sorta right but also sorta wrong (no offence)

If it ever did happen (at this point in time) Canada would quickly side with the USA for a few reasons. @@glub1381 I am not against anyone or anti America, i am just a 25 year ex military realist who knows a bit about capabilities and defences. It's not about money, that tops off and levels off at the top of the scale, there just isn't the tech available to guarantee total safety no matter the money spent, no Bruce Willis, Clint Eastwood or Tom Cruises to save the day when the baddy makes a mistake through arrogance or over confidence. If you were totally safe 9/11 wouldn't have happened. You have no tech to see near invisible subs and you have no tech to shoot down missiles fired from shorter ranges, from an unknown source onto a unspecified target anywhere along thousands of miles of coast. You are living a fantasy if you think you are safe from anybody and everbody at any time, especially in this age of the rise of hypersonic weapons. You think you cant be touched because you waste money better spent on your own people, you think you are safe because you attack some desert dwellers who are armed with AK 47s. Wake up and smell the roses. Tech is moving too fast and nothing stops a smuggled in bomb or a nuke in a truck driven into town or a commercial aircraft disguised as a weapon (but on an international scale not just some religious nutters). Just stop ffs.

Just a couple of minor points: Newfoundland was not part of Canada till 1949. It was its own country in the 1920s, with the same semi-colonial Dominion status as Canada. So your map shows the US invading two countries. Maybe that's what you meant by "Halifax and Saint John", but Saint John is in New Brunswick. The capital of Newfoundland (or as it is now, Newfoundland and Labrador), is St. John's.

i know of this toppic i saw it just this week at a other channel. if i was correct both the UK and the US had a plan for the other. both came to the conclusion that after the Canada part there would be a stale mate do to both being stronger then the other in there respective theater. (UK on the water & US on land) That was also one of the reasons they figured that they could better work together then the other option.

you underestimate emus, during that first emu culling/ emu war emus the major noted that emus could take several bullets without batting an eye and it took on average 10 to kill one. Strap some amour and you'd prob have to hit a bird that can move 50 km/h, jump about 2m whilst 'the toe claws of emus are capable of eviscerating animals under the right conditions' (which could prob be archived with some blades added to their feet) in the head to kill it Thank for coming to my ted talk of why America doesn't have better land military than the UK empire

modern plan: step 1: surround Britain with the aircraft carrier fleet there is no step 2
@tonytye8963
@tonytye8963 4 жыл бұрын
Step two - survivers of the sunken aircraft carriers swim to the remnants of your fleet and go home. I think that deadly sub fleet however small, and all the fighters and missiles available would have one mission, bollocks to everything else, send all you have at once and sink those carriers. Most may fail but many would get through. You cant surround an island 22 miles off a continent without being near enough for ground based aircraft and missiles, and you think nobody else would get involved if say you destroyed the channel tunnel(another blockade problem), France owns more than half of that.

It wouldn't be much of a watch, if strategic nukes were allowed the world would be on fire, if tactical nukes were allowed all sides would lose their navies and then start contemplating how to attack one another across oceans. If all nukes were ruled out it'd be a stalemate because half the countries have no means to cross oceans and those that do would not last long inside another country's territory as a developed nation carries about 100x as many modern jets as any aircraft carrier ever could.
