9:46 is Little Prelude in G Minor, BWV 929 (#10). I wish all the different preludes were broken down this way. Halida's performance of Little Prelude in G Minor is exquisite! So delicate, and while the piece is certainly not demanding or challenging for a pianist past the intermediate stage....the delicacy and emphasis and light touch really makes this my favorite version I have heard yet! The ornamentation is just right, and the final two notes just "hang" there- such suspense! Bravo!

BWV is for Bach-Werke-Verzeichnis, a numbering system for the works of JS Bach. A numbering system is particularly useful in organizing the output of prolific composers like Bach and Mozart, Some composers may have more than one cataloging system for their works (e.g. Scarlatti has the Kirkpatrick, Longo, and Pestelli cataloging system, Haydn has the Hoboken and the Landon systems, Soler has the Rubio and Marvin, etc.)

BWV 999 (c minor prelude) still sounds somehow nice, but the speed is way too fast. It doesn't add to the music to play it so fast.

+Susan Nash The often grander sounding of modern piano can often lead us into a different era of musical interpretation.
@PabluchoViision8 жыл бұрын
+Susan Nash Yes, she does, but doesn't overdo it. She's a brilliant pianist, with great technique and sensitivity. Some of her choices don't quite work for me... for instance, the tempo on the first prelude seems much too fast to my ears... and in the early going of BWV 928 in F major (mislabeled, actually starts around 8:30) there are some rubatos (or is it just inconsistent tempo?) that absolutely mystify me... like a roller coaster car nearing the top of a slope... Still, to me this a superb performance.
