It's interesting to see all of the different languages and alphabets used here in the comments. It speaks to the universal appeal of music. Funny how people from different cultures can appreciate - even love - a piece of music, but can't agree on things like religion or politics. Music has the ability to transcend things that other human creations can't. That'll never solve the world's problems, but in the meantime it gives us all something to enjoy and to be thankful for.

Schubert embodies the Viennese Weltanschauung, illustrated in this anecdote: "the Prussian field marshall reports from the front: 'the situation is serious but not hopeless.' The Austrian field marshall reports: 'the situation is hopeless but not serious.'" Schubert lived in poverty and ill health, but he knew how to enjoy life and it shows in his compositions. His final piano sonata, a vast works, contains heart-wrenching pathos in the first two movements and an amazing joie-de-vie in the final two, like he is saying, "this is what is, so I'm not going to wallow in self-pity, I am going to wrest that last drops of life out of my existence. Schubert provides a model for our attitudes in a complex and scary world.

Kann passieren...( Stroke heißt Schlaganfall) wenn frau sich da gut aufgehoben fühlt und weiter Klavier spielen kann, was der Gesundheit und Fingerbeweglichkeit gut tut, so ist das Lebensqualität auch mit 55 :-)

Schubert was such an amazing composer! Underestimated during his lifetime, unfortunately. He lived in poverty and was very ill most of the time, had only few friends and fans who supported him.

I read in a biography of Schubert that he was in love with a simple young lady, not very pretty but gentle, a singer, but he could never marry her because he was not rich enough. She waited for him a long while until she could not wait any longer.. I found this story sad sure but very romantic too ...

Aquello, en todas las áreas del quehacer humano. シューベルトとわたしの誕生日が同じ事が分かって以来何となく好きな音楽家です!小学六年頃からでしたね!子守り歌、野バラ、小夜曲、アベマリア、ビアノ曲など、菩提樹も、大好き❤オーストリアの旅行で、この辺りでシューベルトが菩提樹の曲想を得た、と言われている処だと聞き感慨深いものが有りました!未完成交響曲第の映画も、もう一度見られたら、と思っている83歳です

Schubert died at 31. What a waste to the world that he died at such a young age. Our World could use more Schubert music. RIP Schubert. You could have been as good as the great Beethoven had you lived as long as he did. Even Beethoven didnt compose his best works until after well past age 40. Imagine what you could have accomplished had you lived another 20 years or more.
