Another great video, where I learned a little bit. I'm also completely remaking a steel sailing boat, just at the beginning of the adventure, and I really like to see how you work. It's always with a lot of care for details even with small mistakes. Keep up the good work! You have my thumbs up!

Perfect again! I think you need to make a polished stainless steel plate on the deck where the anchor can hit the teak.

Ciao Mate! I’m still thinking best solution for that.. steel plate? Support? New to figure out how to solve...

Gabriele, I am curious, did you add a shelf to lift the anchor chain off the bottom of the locker so it stays dry? Or do you just let the chain fall to the bottom of the locker?
@sea4see2 жыл бұрын
+Kurt Braun yes I make a shelf that permit the water to drain below and it maintain the chain about 2/3 cm lift from the bottom is made by plywood and paint with double components paint epoxy

Amazing work and very neat. Just to ask, I'm busy installing exact same windlass. The manual says 40mm max thickness on deck. I see your deck and profile is beyond that thickness. If the windlass is too high, the key does not fit all the way into the motor. Is this a problem or not??
@sea4see3 жыл бұрын
Uh uh …. Depending of how much the key will fit it… how thick is your deck?
@marchagemann73813 жыл бұрын
@@sea4see the deck is currently 25mm and the teak profile is also 25mm plus also have a 6mm ss backing plate and 6mm ss top plate that goes on top of the teak.

@@sea4see it's the same lofrans x2 vertical windlass that you installed. At the moment the key on the shaft does not slide all the way into the motor. Does the key really need to be all the way in???

I need help with a lofran x4 when using the drum to release ropes not the anchor . When releasing the mooring ropes the drum start making stuck noise and won’t realease it’s like if it was straining but when pulling in mooring rope which is more pressure it works perfect

Hi - love the channel. Great attention to detail :-) We are planning to fit a lofrans windlass aswell so found this very helpful. Please can i ask - it looks like you have 40mm thick deck + 20mm teak pad on deck so at least 60mm thick in total? Did you get a special version of the X2 from Lofrans as the manual for the standard one says it can only do a 40mm thick deck in total? Many thanks for your videos - looking forward to seeing Ellos in the water and glad you have recovered.
@sea4see3 жыл бұрын
+Chris P ciao Chris! Thx for appreciate my work!! Don’t worry regarding the bolts! You don’t need to buy from Lofrans but you can buy a M8 stainless steel 316 threaded bar and cut it at your need.. is better this way because you can make your own custom made installation believe me is a piece of cake!!
@M31AutumnMist3 жыл бұрын
@@sea4see Many thanks Gabriele, much appreciated. We've just ordered our new lofrans windlass so looking forward to getting it installed and testing it this summer (fingers crossed ;-))

@@sea4see But do you only need to change the bolts if the deck thickness is greater than 40 mm? What about the main shaft? I'm in the same situation with similar boat, but from Najad. The total thickness needs to be about 60 mm.

Gabriele, I figured out the best way to watch your videos! I imagine that Ellos is my boat and you are the person who is fixing her up for me! : - ) I am so glad you do excellent work making my boat even better than new. Plus, I never have to pay you AND you make videos of your progress. What could be better than that? The only problem I see is how do I get my boat from Italy to the US after you are done? Hmmmm. lol Leaving my imagination behind, it is very nice to see the progress you are making on Ellos. Scott W PS - At 4:22 I noticed your friend Ed came back! Seems like you want to do something very nasty to him. haha
