I arranged this song as a request for a wedding. The mother of the bride did not like the rendition almost identical to this thinking it was an uplifting, spiritual/ religious song. However the father of the bride and the bride both loved it and thought it was beautiful and the sparseness of the arrangement translated the melancholy of the lyrics. I sent the mother the lyrics with an analysis of the meaning and she was shocked she didn't know what a broken hallelujah was..
