Thats so true, actually playing the sax is the best way :D. It is however, way faster if you play together with people. Like jam for hours, trust me there will be epic moments which give you moments of adrenaline dopamine. I find you learn way faster if you play with mates. Or just lock yourself inside a room or a huge abondoned building to get natural reverb echo and stuff. It adds to your sound alot.

I wanted a nice sound all the time while actually not practising. It doesn't work this way. I guess the problem with me was I wanted to prove to myself that I can play a certain song and would just stop and get mad at myself because I made a mistake. Or stopping at a certain part because "it was too hard to play". Basically you need to eliminate those kinda fears of doing something wrong or sounding shitty at times. Well in essence just play, with people even better because you can feel them change their volume or tempo if you raise yours, way more dynamic than every backing track :).
