People don't realize cats are not decerning in their partners. Even siblings breed with each other and can build a colony quickly. TNR done right does work.

Yeah, that's why it's wild to me when people claim that spaying and neutering animals is unjust or cruel: they aren't like us. The poor things are driven mad by their hormones in ways we can't understand.

Cats can start as young as 6months and have kittens up to roughly 4x a year. They are driven mad by the heat they go into. After they are TNR they are way more calm less aggressive.

It was my experience while feeding a colony that the female cats were raped. Discernment didn't enter into it because the females were cornered by four and five male cats at a time. The mama's to be would run and hide but after a few days, they were exhausted. It made me realize that every kitten born was beautiful AND tragic because they were born out of this energy.

I’m so sorry about Scion. He was precious❤ I would love to see a video about your care for the trapped cats before and after surgery. Specifically, what do you try to do if you have a friendly trapped cat? And what do you do about the ones that go ballistic in their traps and try to hurt themselves? And how long do you keep the females ( specifically the ones who have recently been nursing) before you release them?

Thank you 🤍 to answer your questions: 1) if we have space and trap a friendly cat, we will take them. If we don’t have foster space, we TNR. 2) feral cats actually are really calm in traps when covered! 3) if we trap a nursing mom, we try to locate her babies. If we can’t locate, we try to release her same day (just typically late in the night to give her time to fully wake up).

Never understood people who say "why do XYZ thing, i heard it doesn't work perfectly 100% of the time" So.. it worked though? It did something? It had an actual positive effect, even if it wasn't a perfect solution? What is the problem then? No solution would have a perfect success, especially when it comes to lives of actual living beings, so I'm very happy that people like you do what you do! That has such a huge impact

If you're having dry red patches, mostly around your mouth, that used to happen to me. It turned out to be a fluoride sensitivity, and I used a toothpaste free of fluoride for a bit, and it cleared up. I'm not sure that's what's going on with you, but I figured it was worth mentioning.

I just has something similar with my skin. Benadryl gel and unscented lotion 2 or more times a day. Help heal faster by keeping the skin moisturized and less likely to be drying or itch. Good luck friend

I squeeled when I saw you posted this! 😊 I have TNR questions. Are they in pain once they are released? How are they monitored for complications? How do you keep them from licking at the incisions? Or do they generally not? My mom and I want to foster once we aren’t renting. Thank you for what you do!

With ferals, it’s really about making their incision as small as possible to keep complications low. We communicate with the colony caretakers to monitor their healing and if anything goes wrong, we come back out to trap and get them to our vet! And you all should definitely foster when you can!!!

I try to tell people to spay and neuter and to ideally keep kitties inside but some people just don't want to listen, they do say it's just nature and no it's not lol people need to learn that cats are an invasive species, but of course people always want to follow up on that argument with "Well so are people." Ugh Okay lets start TNRing humans, that's okay right?!

I'm wondering how often you end up retrapping cats that have already been fixed? That could be incredibly frustrating I imagine, to be going for certain cats and you end up getting the same ones repeatedly.
