I’m not sure if night’s of azure is on switch but I know the 2nd is and it’s rated M, RE collection, RE 4,5,6,7 and village and RE revelations 1&2, Gal Gun which has 3 games on the switch and Grim Guardians is a spin off of the Gal gun series and then there are very interesting Rated M gems on the Eshop and I believe there are 2 games related to the spirit camera series on switch, I’ve heard there was gonna be a new Corpse Party game but I haven’t seen anything new for it in awhile and it’s truly sad how we’ll never get a new Evil Within game cuz of MicroSOFT

To clarify Mary Skelter 1 is already in two. It unlocks when you beat 2. The dlc only unlocks it early (yes its poorly communicated which I suspect is completely on purpose).

I believe the Death End reQuest games are written by Makoto Kedouin, who wrote the Corpse Party games. I’ve had them on my Switch for awhile for this reason and plan on playing them at some point. Would love to see more horror JRPGs.

Thanks for the video! Other M rated RPGs that I own. Moero Chronicles Hyper Moero Crystal H Labyrinth of Refrain Coven of Dusk Labyrinth of Galleria The Moon Society All 4 games are Labyrinth type Dungeon crawlers. Moero series is from the Seven Pirates devs, also the gamplay loop is heavier on the farming for EXP to keep up with the power curve. Labyrinth of Refrain/Galleria have a darker theme. I did about 10 hours into Refrain and haven't hit any explicit M rated parts. I think it mostly goes in the dark lewd direction from what I checked (like blackmail).

Great video and nice pickups! Loved to see some gems like Dead or School, love it. Other M Rating games that I would personally recommend are: Moero Chronicles, Omega Labyrinth Life (that it's also uncensored, differently from PS4), I don't know if Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs is M rated but I guess yes because of some mechanics that are more censored on the version I own (PS4)

I remember when Mary Skelter came out originally on Vita. I wanted to pick it up, but didn't have a lot of money to spend so I figured I'd get it on sale. The price for it only proceeded to go up until it became unreasonable. Thankfully it was available on other platforms later. Picked it up on Steam (and digital on Vita) for cheap. But damn.

There are a lot of M rated rpgs on Switch. Just a few you don’t have on here that you may want to add would be Omori, Chained Echoes, Astlibra, Labyrinth of Refrain, Labyrinth of Galleria, Omega Labyrinth, the Moero games, South Park Stick of Truth and Fractured But Whole, Skyrim and Witcher 3.

Akiba’s strips basis is just freaking hilarious! I love that it doesn’t take itself serious! I haven’t got a chance to dive in but I’ve heard nothing but good things for a great cheesy playthrough. SMT 5 is still on my list to get to, right after Nocturne. (Planning to get to Nocturne soon!) Fan Service and chesticles aside, Seven Pirates aesthetics, artwork and more silly tones are drawing me it! It looks great! Ug! KAMOSHIDA!!! 😡 lol Moving on….AHHH NOCTURNE! Other titles I recommend is Persona 3 and Persona 4 Golden I know limited run did a physical copy of a while back but they are available on eShop and definitely Nier Automata that is definitely a must have in your game collection!😮 the combat style is similar to Bayonetta but the story is phenomenal as well as the music soundtrack.

But naturally Persona 5 was already covered, and that's got the best gameplay with Royal even upgrading the story further beyond 4's so I guess he wanted to cover the best of the series without too much overlap in gameplay :3

I played through the first and watched the second, the voice acting is good, the world building, dialogue amd characters were fascinating but also odd in a unique way. The opening scenes and death scenes are quite brutal, the voice acting is painfully good for them.

Since Dark Souls and the like count (JP developed games, even if they have more of a Western aesthetic and gameplay style), than the *Dragon's Dogma* games ought to at least get honourable mentions. They're both M rated games. Dragon's Dogma 2 is my 2024 GOTY. Dragon's Dogma 2 currently has a 2 hour free trial running on Steam, though I personally feel that's barely enough to get started (character creation and starter area stuff). It also has a 'mixed' rating on Steam right now, but that's mostly because people were (understandably) salty about microtransactions at launch (you really don't need them, but they really don't belong in a premium priced single player game), and performance issues in larger settlements, namely the cities (it's better now, but still not great, but gameplay out in the open world has always been just fine so it was never really that important IMO).

Akiba's Trip Undead & Undressed is stupid fun. It's worth noting that video games and movies have a separate rating scale so a mature rated video game isn't the same thing as a mature rated movie. If you had to make an equivalent a mature video game is actually more equivalent to an R rated movie....though there is an important distinction in that mature rated video games cannot contain nudity while R rated movies can.

Mary Skelter are fun, I've currently playing the 1st one as the DLC of 2 and I can testify they're fun, if only quite a bit of tedious for its grinding, but that's just me that I'm not a fan of grinding. The rest of the game is fun with a nice customization of the cast

Super elated to see Persona 5 Royal on this list. I've been playing it elsewhere but have heard good things about the Switch version's performance, and the writing is phenomenal. When I first played Shin Megami Tensei IV (my introduction to MegaTen and thus Persona by extension) several years ago, I thought to myself, "This combat system is incredible, and this would be the best RPG ever if the story and characters had any effort to them and if the fanservice had more in-universe relevance (something about the Burroughs AI creeped me out)." Cue my introduction to Persona 5, which has some of the most believable character dialogue I've ever seen, to say nothing of its willingness to deal with difficult-yet-important real-world subjects such as (TW/CW) imbalances in power dynamics, attempted suicide, and child abuse, sexual and otherwise. I do think the story felt a bit front-loaded, with the first dungeon feeling horrifically important while the ones after that felt a bit more cliche by comparison, but the character interactions have absolutely been a service for the rest of the game, particularly with how you're constantly on a clock but the timekeeping system always feels fair.

Personally my favorite rating tag is PEGI's 16 (yes, my country uses PEGI). I like that because it means it is dark, but not too much. It is like ESRB T and M rating combination. Examples of the games are: Persona and SMT, Most of FF after 12, all Tales games from Xillia and onward, Valkiriya Chronicles, etc.

Reason for Persona 5, royal M rating is due actually to the very first palace in the game. Specifically the attempted suey side of an NPC. Not to mention the implied scandalous assault from an adult against minors. The game is highly stylized so on first glance you would guess no big deal. But even the enemies are umm phallic shaped, amongst other things. But both Persona 5 and Royal are phenomenal. I have strikers I just haven’t played it yet (working on hundred percenting Royal on the switch). Fun list though, great video.

Death end request is one of my faves. Great story and great turn based battle system. These games are not easy by no means and I think if you like JRPG they are must plays. Third game coming to Japan later this year and I’m gonna get day one. Mary Skelter is awesome too! Really fun dungeon crawler. My fave compile heat series is Neptunia series but it’s not Mature rated. I think Neptunia is fun and cute and has funny characters!

Visual Novel type games may not be for everyone but the themes, story, action, and detective elements make it worth trying out. Got released on tons of platforms so pick it up on a sale, even if you don't mostly game on Switch

I like to think that Dark souls mostly ended up as mature due to the violence and the subject matter. It’s a very bleak world. Now as for games I would add to the list that’s a good question, a few easy spicy picks would be OmegaLabyrinth Life which is up there with seven pirates H for the physics Samurai Maiden is a fun fanservicy game with decent combat and looks very pretty. Are the must owns? Depends on your taste I guess.

Seven Pirates is actually the 5th game in the Genkai Tokki series! Moero Chronicle and Crystal are the only other ones on Switch and have the fanservice of Seven Pirates as a DRPG like the Mary Skelter games.

Though I haven't played them because they're banned in my county both Mugen Souls and Mugen Souls Z are worth looking into. The only big issue I have with the Death End games on Switch is the ports; they're rough but other then that I can't recommend them enough. It might be a better idea getting them on another system. Also as a side note another 2 games in the series have been conformed one of which is due to come out in September in Japan. Last week I finished Mary Skelter 2 and I've got to say that True ending is incredible such a great game, and for those getting into the series play 2 first as it does tie into the True Ending of the 1st game. Both of these series have bloody good OST's as well and if you get Mary Skelter Final on PC's Deluxe Edition you can get all 3 soundtracks together in one package. And it's worth mentioning Mary Skelter Finals console versions have been banned in Australia so the only way to legally play it is on PC. Which is what I had to do.

Agree with you there 120% regarding Mary Skelter Trilogy. And it is also my fav regarding Compile Hearts game. Kinda sad that Mary Skelter Finale is the last entry for Mary Skelter series... Also, IMO, Mary Skelter Trilogy are the very few Compile Hearts game that can run smoothly on Switch Handheld Mode beside Neptunia RPG(I dislike this game) & Pirate H(There're some FPS drop but not as bad as other Compile hearts game...) Undernauts, is the very reason i fall in love with Experience Inc...They also have some dungeon crawling JRPGs like Demon Gaze(But have to say, do not play Mon-Yu, it is the worst Experience Inc game so far..... Sad)

@@HallowedBeThyGame After your shown footage of Dead or School looked really promising to me, at first I was really confused and thought like I was playing a beta or something since the actual released game totally doesn't have the same vibes as your vid was "promising" me - but after some hours in while still somewhat naively having hoped I'd eventually encounter some of these features like child-rescuing and hand-to-hand combat etc., I ended up reading the game's wiki and got totally disappointed by the fact that it was (of course what else) too few crowdfunders back then to back them for all the planned ideas the 3 dev-team was having.. It's just heartbreaking cuz the artstyle and base-idea in the overall concept feel utterly promising and a lot like wasted potential; in fact I found the game so fun the last 2 days that my overall playtime ended up at 20h fleshing mutants, all until I now start to begin missing real bad some of these beta-features that would drag the gameplay out of the occuring repetitiveness. So yea I'm also a (new) fan but I certainly cannot shake off the feeling of some real bad lost potential. I say this as someone who actually "discovers" a new game only every couple of years, actually - and sure it had to be trimmed down like that -_- (not ur fault btw - in the end, I'm actually glad u've shown the old trailer bc otherwise probably wouldn't have been interested)

Idea Factory and Compile Heart make games which I would say were the B movies of videogames. The budget may not be that big, the execution may fail here and there but they are at least decent fun, most of the times. They remind me of so called eurojank games from companies like Piranha Bytes in their philosophy.

Dunno if you already looked it up but Dark souls was rated mature for blood and gore, partial nudity, and violence. It happens a lot when a game looks a little more realistic and there's killing involved because that usually means there's gonna be blood, as well. Plus, the whole game has a pretty creepy vibe. It's kinda funny to me because the rules are so much more relaxed when it comes to cartoon violence

Moero Chronicles and Crystal are missing and not sure if in the US they would be rated mature but the Labyrinth of Refrain/Galleria games should be rather mature with there topics. My biggest issue is that i own most of these.

Even though SMT has a reputation for being dark and extreme in some ways, there is a spinoff of the series called Giten Megami Tensei that takes things to an extreme far beyond what would fall under a Mature rating and it was only released for the PC98 and Windows because the game would never have been allowed on consoles. Giten Megami Tensei really ups the horror and violence of SMT as well as the erotic elements and there are flat-out hentai scenes in the game, both of the titillating and of the extremely disturbing type. The most disturbing scenes in the game are some of the most extreme, explicit, and distressing things I've ever seen in a video game, even when compared to things like the more extreme end of horror hentai games with lots of violence and gore in them. Because of this, I wouldn't be surprised if Atlus refused to even admit the game's existence today now that they are owned by Sega. 😆If you are curious and not feint of heart, there are now English fan translations available for both the PC98 and Windows versions of Giten Megami Tensei. It plays a bit like early mainline SMT, but with some experimental variations to the gameplay. Also, the PC98 version has aged a little bit better visually, it has that classic PC98 look that still comes across as charming whereas the Windows version looks more dated than classic so I recommend the PC98 version if it is an option for you.

Some of it might have to be censored for KZbin, but I already have plans on making it and I have gotten the idea approved for I Dream of Retro Games. I still have a few more videos to make for the channel before I can get to that one, so maybe it might be for later in the year. People crap on Compile Heart/Idea Factory but I actually enjoy many of their games. The Mary Skelter series is my favorite of the bunch. I also enjoyed the Akiba's trip games (and the anime). I have copes of Death End Re: Quest 1/2 and Seven Pirates H but haven't played them yet. I'e never even heard of Undernauts Labyrinth of Yomi but I'll be looking for a copy now.

Death end Re; quest it’s actually one of my favourite games to play, but it is very decision based now. I don’t mean the stereotypical hey do this or do that Choice making? Don’t spoil anything in this game there Things known as death end endings for doing certain things or saying certain Things or making certain choices in conversations, you will have a death end, which is a bad ending, which brutally murders your characters In a variety of ways, I mean, as soon as I booted up the game, the title screen music was enough to put Me on edge and normally I can’t stand Choice making games but I actually like this game the second one I’m iffy on because unlike the way to get the new skills is kind of hard when they grasp and you only get two new characters. The rest repeats I think is more but I guess never played far enough in the game to really say thing in a second one the first one yeah definitely one of the best games I played so far and I love RBG so take that how you will

Persons 5 Royal has the personas that are sexualized to degrees for an M rating. But there is also When Ryuji dropped an uncensored F bomb in his dialogue to one of the bad guys. Language can get to M with the more severe profane words.

Yeah Darksouls being mature rated is a little strange, even the depressing story isn't really. Characters taking things a little too seriously die or are corrupted but the whole game takes place in the land of the gods after everyone has lived and died during their normal human lives. Hollowing is caused by lack of purpose mostly brought on by despair but that isn't true for a few characters like: Siegmeyer of Catarina for example goes on a journey of exploration and is basically just yolo -ing his undead life. He turns once he has seen everything he wanted to see, he basically dies in contentment. So I can only imagine it is the violence.

I was a little surprised Nier Automata didn't show up on the list. I just played and finished it for the first time, and it blew me away. M rated content includes violence, suicide, cannibalism, and a bit of language.

Persona 5 is very much the kind of game to be M rated by story and content: -Self delete -Violence -Redrum -Harassment -Stalking -Brainwashing -Fraud -People are Framed -R*** -the fan service, royal comes with bikinis for all the under 18 but perfectly legal in japan female characters. there are definitely a few more I am overlooking.

Death end re;quest is f***ing awesome story wise. But what I never understood was why with both games part way in the enemies become like sponges and I had to put it on easy. I looked on yt and no one seemed to have that issue and I don't understand why.

Persona 5 also got an M rating, not just P5 Royal. Probably the more phallic personas, but also some of the darker subject matters like the abuse of students, Futaba's suicidal thoughts in her questline, the fact that the 1st boss was kinda of a sexual predator, and there was an attempted r@pe in the opening cutscene.

Honestly, a lot of those games are just Pegi 16 in Europe, it's kinda disappointing the lack of true M-rated JRPGs out there. Overall it's a genre more aimed at teenagers.

I think that dark souls is rated m is for similar reasons why smt is rated m aside from a few entries and the amount of gore in the game

I checked the ESRB ratings on Dark Souls, and yeah, it is all about the 'realistic' violence and themes of death. Also, harpy ass apparently. SMT3 is still my favorite of the series. KZbin is so funny; sometimes I go on true crime binges and some of the shit they show and describe makes anything in these games look tame, but video game channels are (justifiably) afraid to show a clip of a breast getting jiggly with it. 😂

Yep death end request definitely gets that mature rating😓 dark yet very unique games❤ happy I have physicals of both games. Was uncertain about the games however fun. As to other Mature games Haven is definitely a game I’d recommend Dreamcutter , Sword of the necromancer And Nights of Azure 2 depending on your point of view do dabble down the questionable path same with Unsighted as it covers some fairly heavy topics Oddly Neir Automata has a mature rating 🤔 though I’ll admit I did not see it that way. @@HallowedBeThyGame Of corse, dreamcutter is very weird to be honest. I kinda have a love hate relationship with the game, the latter levels are extremely frustrating to be honest. Still for the game as a hole I like it. Even if some story and art choices are um questionable. Are you familiar with unsighted or haven?
