Fun fact: originally, Michael Myers wasn't supposed to be Laurie's brother. In the later films building off of John Carpenter's Halloween, they established that he wanted to kill her because she's his family. This made things less scary because Myers wanting to kill Laurie for no reason is scarier than giving him a motive.

Even more: The actor/"actor" playing/"playing" the drill sergeant, R.Lee Ermey, was a marine drill sergeant and so he was then acting for the movie what he did in real life before, which is a magnificient fiction-reality-twister.

It's funny, really. Micheal Myers is the one 80s slasher villain (technically 70s but whatever) that i'm actually scared of. No idea why, but Freddy or Jason don't really freak me out. Maybe Mikey just seems more real (in the first movie anyway) and that's why he freaks me out. Maybe it's the fact that we never really see his face or hear him talk. But this version? Not so much. So thanks, Rob Zombie! You made the one slasher villain that i actually have nightmares about not scary!

I think it works best if you view 1 and 2 as a continuous movie. 1 set up everything and the killing only ramped up toward the end of it, with 2 continuing his onslaught and being one hell of a payoff for the build-up. Given how 2 literally picks up where the first left off, I think that was the intended goal.
