Can you use acrylic paint on the doll furniture when you make your candy corn. The furniture when you paint it can you use acrylic paint?

Hi Shirley, I believe you can use Acrylic paint, but you'll need to do a coat of Mod Podge and allow it to cure for a bit. Also, if you can sand some the shine off, that will definitely help. It's that glossy finish on those doll houses and furniture that makes painting them a challenge. I hope this helps. Happy Crafting! 🥰

Hubby brings me a hot collagen drink every evening to my craft room and last night when he saw me putting everything together he said that I looked like a little girl playing with her doll house. Hi Becky, it didn't take me long. I Paint and while it dries, I do other things. Probably two evenings because of the Mod Podge on the fabric.....I let it dry overnight. Hope this answers your question. I do have a playlist with all my Dollhouse Makeovers and most are finished. I have another one coming up in June...20 something....🥰

Really cute! I want to try this this year. Just a question..does the chalk paint stick well to the plastic? It would be great not to have to use spray paint or primer!

Hi Jean, you can use Chalk Paint and mod Podge before or after or use spray paint for plastic. Either way works great. Also, some houses have a weird oily layer. You can wash them with Dawn soap or sand it a bit and the paint will adhere better. Hope these help and enjoy creating your Halloween house. Tfw and I hope you have a fantastic weekend. Jackie 🥰

How did you get your paint to stick mine would wipe off even 2 dry coats

Oh wow, yes...these little houses have an odd oily coating. On these I only used Waverly Chalk Paint in Ink (2 coats) and the paint seem to stay. Then I noticed other friends in this playlist used Mod Podge before painting to keep the paint from scratching off. Since I had already painted, I did a coat of the Mod Podge after mine was painted and it worked. My 4yr old grandson played with them and as of today, the little houses are still intact. Also, for other DT dollhouses I've worked with I tried Rust-oleum 2x spray paint that bonds to plastic and Tha worked too. Another friend tried to lightly sand these houses before painting and this worked well for her. I've not needed to sand them. For me, the Modge before or after painting and the spray paint that bonds to plastic always worked well for me. Try these out and see which ones work. Definitely don't use regular acrylic paint. I used that first and yes, the paint just slides off. I was also thinking of washing the houses with Dawn to remove that oily layer, but I never did try it. Hope these help.
