This is literally the only soundtrack I'm aware of where the music from Halloween sounds exactly like the original music from the original film. I've heard the John Carpenter's Halloween vinyl on your channel but I just don't dig it. It sounds distorted. It doesn't sound anything like the original music. However, this 40th anniversary orange vinyl DOES! This is EXACTLY what every piece of music from Halloween is supposed to sound like! Thank you for uploading this my friend! I love this!!!

Carpenter released a “soundtrack” a few years after the movie came out that featured new recordings of the score. So that’s the version that had that dancey bass drum best on the main title theme. Not good. This soundtrack here is from Waxwork Records, I believe? They do faithful vinyl soundtrack editions that feature the music as it was actually heard on the original film soundtrack. So if it was originally in mono, that’s what Waxwork puts out. They did that for Rosemary’s Baby, too. (Incidentally the first soundtrack release for Rosemary’s Baby, at the time of the movie’s original release, was in stereo, not mono like it is in the film). EDITED TO ADD: this was put out by Death Waltz, not Waxwork.

I know what you mean. I own so many Halloween CDs and most of them just reissue the same tracks Carpenter made in the early 80s when they first released a Halloween soundtrack to the public...but these sound like they actually dug deep and found the original recording sessions.

Pretty much every soundtrack that's ever released doesn't use exactly what's in the movie. I'm a big fan of this vinyl release here.

be careful, sometimes the video is not blocked but does not appear. Just a word or a title that makes it invisible. for example, my video of "JAWS", I had to put the title in French otherwise it does not appear anymore ... quite weird. Or for example, "Once upon a time in America", if I put Ennio Morricone the video is also no longer available but not considered blocked.

the greatest horror movie of all time.... the greatest horror soundtrack of all time . its hard to believe every holloween this film is shown to young tweens between 11-14 and still holds up 40 years later well 41 now and were getting two more films . i dot think the legend of Michael Myers will ever die .. cause ever year a new fan is made after a very low budget film is viewed for the first time .. i know i was 6 when my big sister showed me this film and to this day a life long Myers fan.

13:40 that split second of silence to break from the previous section of chord changes and then to add the bass line with heavier chords after the break is a VERY powerful effect! Reminds me of the pipe organ!

Glad to hear they did this soundtrack right. Original mono as heard on the 35mm. I have a vinyl release from about 5 years (?) before this latest 40th Ann. edition. The artwork is... slightly better than this one, LOL. I don’t know why we can’t get the proper soundtrack like this with the original poster art like the first vinyl release (which unfortunately featured re-recordings of the score, not the actual original soundtrack). It’s always gotta be new fan art... sigh

Thanks for sharing this new vinyl edition of the original 1978 Halloween soundtrack. I realize it's the same compilation as the 20 year anniversary CD, just without the voiceovers from the movie scenes. I would prefer it to be just a reissue of the original soundtrack because some of the audio tracks are very repetitive. I do emphasize that here you can better hear some special effects sounds, such as the sound when Michael appears or when he kills, very recognizable. Thank you very much and greetings from Chile.

I bought the blu ray from the Halloween box set separately from a private seller just so I could have the movie in mono. Nothing else will do! And it’s why I refuse to buy the 4K blu ray-the “mono” option on there is just a fold-down of a surround remix! What’s the point!

@@Luke-1296 supposedly it’s Disc One? I’m going to check my discs later tonight to be certain. I didn’t even remember that my case had two discs in it. It’s surprisingly difficult to find this information online-and you’d think it’d be easier as it’s such a bone of contention and both discs are labeled as having “mono”, but only one of them has the true original mono track (I don’t even understand why they bothered including a mono track on the fake mono disc, as it’s just a fold-down of the surround mix.)

I noticed at 19:11 a strange sound that I couldn't quite place. After listening again with my headphones on, I can hear the sound of the broken light swinging into Judith's room when Loomis and Brackett are discussing Michael's time in the hospital. This leads me to believe that the original audio of the score was combined with audio clips from the film for the 20th anniversary and is lost, or that the studio didn't authorize use of the original audio for this release. It's clear that they had the added audio elements turned own or removed as much as possible.

It’s cool they finally released the mono version with the original mix. I’m not a fan of the techno drum beat that was added to the original soundtrack. I think what would’ve made this version better is if they added a little bit of reverb or something to give it a stereo feeling. Alan Howard did that for The Fog soundtrack and it sounds great.

Would u say i got a collectors item if i told u i in fact have a copy of the original john carpenter halloween soundtrack in good condition cassette tape form with the tape case and cover.. it reads original recording copyright 1985 edition... i bought it back at a rasputin record store brand new not used back in early 1990s id say bout in 1994 it was before they made curse of myers H6 which was released a year later in 1995.... i have the cassette till this day and still plays good

It's an Audio Technica LP120. It's a great turntable for the price, but I've modified it a good bit. I removed the internal preamp and increased the strength of the anti-skate spring.

It's a direct rip through my turntable. This audio was also taken from the audio stem of the original 35mm film reel, so it's not going to sound extremely clean.
