Wow...those are some of the best columns I have ever seen. They turned out awesome. I loved the vine, the solar light and how you attached the fence. Thank you for sharing.

Wow! These are the best columns I've seen. An this is the first one I've seen that was solid foam, most are mostly constructed of wood with a thin foam sheet over plywood. My Lowes don't have the thick foam, I had to get a 1" sheet and I'll have to double it. Thanks for the showing how to get the stones cut out, I love the stone look.

Thank you I built these to take to a state park in Michigan that does a Halloween theme weekend that everyone decorates there lots for and power always seems to be a problem. 1 outlet 500 extension cords so solar power seemed the best option and they turned out well. Happy Haunting

You did an awesome job making these columns! The paint job is so realistic and it really makes them look like they were professionally made. Have you made any other Halloween props?

Thank You. I have made an entire cemetery seen of the Walking Dead (Michonne, Daryl, Carl, a few zombies,) a couple of other people headstones and various other items. I hope to add Negan this year but I am getting a late start. Sorry no videos on the other props. I can send some pics if you want just send me your email to trefmer@gmail.com Thanks for watching

Thanks it does take time but I am happy with the results. Getting excited just two and a half weeks till we set up at Sleepy Hallow State Park for another week of fun

thanks, I do know about the dry lock but I had the grey house paint, and if you dab it on with the end of the brush you can get some texture, and I am a real cheapskate. 4 posts ivy 4 recycled speakers 4 lights some scrap wood from pallets and left over paint total cost around $40. Thank you for watching and commenting......till we rise again, rest in peace

Nice work! How did you hide the seams where the foam comes together?

Thank you for the kind words. I am going to be setting up my graveyard at a campground in Michigan called Sleepy Hallow (how awesome is that). I will be taking video of it as well as the rest of the grounds and will post it soon thanks for watching and commenting. See you in the next realm.

What Dremel bit did you use?

how did you install the speaker and what speaker system did you use
@Unicyclerider647 жыл бұрын
I used 6" 8 ohm automotive speakers. I cut a small square of plywood with a hole cut in it the size of the speaker. then glue it to the inside of the column using Gorilla Grip glue. After the glue dries screw the speaker to the board. I then ran wires to a 1/8 jack (headphone jack) and use a laptop with my Halloween tracks on it. I found there was no need to cut any sound holes in the column.

I see so many props on You Tube that if they would take just a little more time with the little details they would be fantastic and that is why I try to pay attention to those details. Thanks for noticing and commenting

I used gorilla glue to connect the foam, it in itself foams up and fills caps so no real need to fill or hide seams but if you have gaps you can use "monster mud" to fill gaps or cracks. monster mud is a mixture of 5 or 6 parts joint compound to 1 part latex paint. the paint joins with the joint compound so it does not crack when dry. After it dries just paint over it and no more visible crack. I hope this helps and thank you for watching.

Thank you! I too have seen the foam over wood but I do not get why the foam is plenty strong for a prop and this keeps the weight down. I was looking for something different and that is why I went for the stone look. Thanks again for watching and commenting

Thanks, the fence is from chris25topher his link is listed in the discription I used his main layout but I made my own finials. his video is great the columns were my own design. they take some time but I think they turned out well and are worth the time. thank you for the comment and I'll see you in the afterlife.

I used old pallet wood that was about the same size as a 1 x 6. the outside measures 18". the upright 1 x 6 measures 13.5" on the inside with a 2 x 2 cleat on the inside as seen at :20 of the video. hope this helps. thanks for watching

the fence I made was from another you tube video the link is above in the description. as for the hinge I cut a 2 x 4 down to about a 2 x 3 and long enough so that it went the whole way through the post and extended about 3 inches at the height of the top two wood strips of the fence. I then cut a 2 x 4 block with a notch in the middle and mounted it to the base. I then lined up the fence and drilled a hole through the fence and the blocks and dropped a carriage bolt through the hole
