@@hcrw47 for me, Ends is definitely worse than 2018 and Kills. But there’s really only one way to find out, which is to see it and decide what you think. I heard horrible things beforehand so I kind of knew what to expect. But I still went in with an open mind. Keep in mind, I have seen all Halloween/Friday/Nightmare/Texas movies and know the good and bad but can enjoy them for what they are. But this was not a good movie. I think it might be the worse one in the entire franchise. I didn’t mind what they were trying to do, in fact I was interested in the direction for the first 20 minutes. But it slowly became clear that they were just making a bad movie. That’s very sad to me

@pocholo8319832 жыл бұрын
Corey is the Jar Jar Binks of Halloween Ends. You can pretty much take Corey and his scenes completely out of the movie and just have Myers do the killing using the old "Michael came back for SOME reason" and the movie works. Yes, I am aware that if one does that then you are left with just about 25 minutes of movie, but that is because that is ALL there is Halloween in this flick. The rest of the movie is some weird romance story that sorta feels like they wanted to do a Natural Born Killers vibe and then remembered they needed Michael to show up.
@coreyc59822 жыл бұрын
Oh well...., Cody's not saying anything that I didn't expect already. This trilogy has been underwhelming to say the least. As far as I'm concerned, Laurie Strode already had a magnificent trilogy with Halloween (1978), Halloween II (1981), and Halloween H:20.

Spoilers * It was confusing for me because I thought the whole purpose of developing Corey was so Allison could have her own adversary but that doesn't play out at all. It woul'dve worked better if Corey's descent into madness was told from Allison's perspective. I assumed that Corey's inner struggle was similar to both Laurie and Allison since they all had shitty things happen to them which culminates in either a physical or mental battle with the Shape. It's frustrating when a movie introduces interesting ideas and whether due to cold feet or too many people involved in the creative process, just doesn't pay them off properly.

Ends goes the contemplative route by choosing to explore Myers' legacy and lasting effects on Haddonfield's citizens to try and give some context to the evil that drives a psychopath. In the process, it undermined its own premise to such extent, the film will only fully please that niche group who gave a damn about one of the least enjoyable aspects of its predecessor. With all the negative reviews, I decided to just stream this movie. I'm a huge Halloween fan, I've seen every Halloween movie in the theater since 1995's Curse of Michael Myers. That being said, after watching it tonight, I'm glad I didn't waste my money on tickets and fuel to see this in the theater because I would have walked out very pissed off!!! Wtf were they writers thinking?!? This is supposed to be an epic final showdown and this is what they gave the fans?!? 🖕 This movie!!! 😡

Things that bothered me in this movie: 1. In the real world somebody as hot as Allison would never fall for someone like Corey lmao. 2. Annoying characters such as Deb and Corey's mom. Everytime when they were on screen I wanted to turn the movie off. 3. It dragged on for wayyyy too long. The next 40 minutes after the opening scene made me want to fall asleep. Should have been a 90 minute film at best. 4. After seeing how brutal Michael was in Kills I expected him to be even more brutal in this one, breaking people in half kind of brutal. Yeah... The only thing that seem broke was his back. Michael looked sluggish and old in this. 5. (kind of similar to my last negative) WHY. THE. F**K WAS MICHAEL BARELY IN THIS DAMN MOVIE??? 6. Laurie's philosophical speeches. We get it... Can we move on with the movie now? Haven't we heard all of that in the movie before that? And the one before that? 7. Michael really let Corey tell him to stand up. Michael's a b!tch now? 8. Allison being mad at laurie and calling her crazy. Didn't we already see this crap in 2018? Or was it Allison's daughter that was mad at her? Correct me if I'm wrong. 9. The jumpscares. There weren't a lot, but they were super predictable and cliché. Stuff you see in most horror movies. 10. The final battle. It felt so rushed and the fact that this movie takes place four years after Kills just ruins it for me. Youre telling me that Michael was chilling at his hideout for four hears and then one Halloween night he was like, "Aight, it's been a while. Time to give my lovely sister a visit" like come on man. And just like some of what Cody said, the lack of gore and what they did with Corey's character by the third act just sucks. As for the positives, I only have a few. The music in this movie slaps. Really loved it. Laurie did more in this than she did in Kills so that's something. And back to the kills, the little amount we got in this are lame but there is one kill I actually loved and you'll have to see it for yourself, I'm not telling anything :) Overall I found it to be extremely disappointing. As disappointed as I was with Kills as well, I found Kills to be a little better. I am not itching on rewatching neither of these two in the future, though. On to the next Halloween movie in a couple of years! I'm gonna go now and watch my favorite movies in the franchise such as the original, 2018 and Season of the Witch to wash the bad taste out of my mouth.

Great review Cody. I think u hit the nail right on the head. Halloween Ends is going to be divisive, much more then the previous 2 films. And for me, Halloween Ends was probably my most anticipated movie of 2022. Coming from someone who actually loved both Halloween 2018, and Halloween Kills, I found this one to be quite disappointing, if I'm being completely honest. Now, I was actually hooked on the opening scene. I was intrigued and invested as the story went on. But it all fell apart for me in the 3rd act. (SPOILERS.) So Michael Myers went from this unstoppable killing machine in the previous movie, but now is so weak he can get beat up by Cory. Myers went from being able to take on and kill an entire team of firefighters, as well as an entire mob of people, to now he cant even beat an old Laurie Strode in one on one combat. The ending was just a huge disappointment, Myers went out like a wimp in my personal opinion. Hawkins and especially Lindsay barely get to do anything in this movie. And i cant help but feel Myers was disrespected in this movie. That being said, even after all of that, I still cant say i hated this movie. Like I said said, the first 2 acts were great, i love the characters, i love the score, I enjoyed the kills and carnage candy. And i was on board for the premise. I do think there is a version of this story that was great, and that all comes across in execution. Perhaps if we would have had an ultimate final battle in this final chapter, then it would work for me. I think we all had our different feelings and opinions on how we wanted this trilogy to end, and unfortunately, my personal expectations weren't met. But I'm glad u overall liked it Cody, keep up the good work

I'd like to try and write a treatment for my own Halloween movie. Everyone wants to be negative and say you can't do it, but I think a fan could potentially write one of the best Halloween movies ever. Usually the biggest thing for me missing in these movies is the actual feel of them being on Halloween. I think 4 is the best of the sequels....from the opening shot throughout with the kids trick r treating, you feel like you're watching characters on an actual Halloween. The fog and deep blues used for lightning really set an atmosphere I think has yet to be topped. I'm not in the writers guild though, so it'd be almost impossible for anything I did write to ever be seen by someone that could actually turn it into a movie. I know it's probably a stupid idea to even try to do a script, but I've been told I was a good writer, I have some ideas as to where the characters should or could go, but most off I just refuse to believe people can't do something if they really want to. Let's face it I doubt anyone could mess it up anymore than zombie did in part 2 especially with the stupid white horse....lol

Does Michael really get bullied by depressed high schooler into the first kill? Unbelievably bad. Holy shit. Didn’t think anything could get worse than Kills but this impossibly ridiculous and bad.
@212chjm452 жыл бұрын
I just put the circle together! If you noticed there is an old man under the bridge where Michael hangs out. The old man tries to kill Cory but Cory kills him. The old man turned into Michael Myers as Cory did. At the end Laurie says Michel the boogeyman doesn’t die he changes form. So either one she killed the real Michael Myers and there will be more like him and more than likely already is. Or she killed a man who took on Michaels foot steps and the real Michael Myers is still out there as well as others following his footsteps . Either way it’s not over yet! Michael one way or another is coming back!

I really appreciated this review and subscribed for this reason. I completely agree with most of what you said especially of the divisiveness of how this movie will be received. Admittedly, I watched this review after seeing the movie. I should also add that I'm probably on the older side of most of the commenters of your video since I was born in 1978 when the first movie of the Halloween franchise came out. Personally, I loved it. I thought adding much drama and some humor was definitely unexpected new elements. The typical slasher style of this franchise was very limited which was yet another surprise. Adding these elements enhanced the previously felt nostalgia of this franchise for me. Thank you so much for this well thought out review and I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos!!

Just got back from seeing it, and you nailed it Cody. This is the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy all over again. Basically they had enough steak for ONE movie. And they stretched it into three. But unlike Revenge of the Sith, this new Part III is not the strongest. It IS better than Kills for me, I will say that. But my biggest issue is the film comes across like a hybrid remake of Christine & Butcher Baker Nightmare Maker, but with Michael Myers, & Laurie Strode making cameos in it. DGG should've made that movie. I liked those parts. The Halloween parts should've been handed off to a new writer/director imo. Too bad John Carpenter only produced. Would've loved to see him return for the "last".

There were actually moments in this film where I thought to myself "IS this the worst movie i've ever scene?". Thought JLC's character switch up was so so jarring, she was a completely different character. I also just didn't enjoy the 'risks' they took at all. From beginning to end, worst movie I can remember seeing. 2018 was descent, they should of just done a 1 off and left it there.
@zach34092 жыл бұрын
It reminded me more of a black mirror type thing and didn't really feel like a Halloween movie. Gotta say I'm greatly frustrated (not pissed) with this last installment, and, really how they squandered (in my opinion) an amazing opportunity to make a great trilogy. 2018 was awesome, Kills was annoying and underwhelming (didn't hate it though) and Ends....Hugely disappointed but also somehow still enjoyed it enough. Definitely mixed on this film. Will need to rewatch and ruminate on it some more. The story they ultimately went with seemed weird, maybe a little lazy. They really couldn't do better?! Lol, c'mon.
