Because cannibals that are hallucinating would be scary, and Amputees running away from people with machetes who are trying to make a meal out of them would actually freak me out. I genuinely think this same idea would work incredibly well today, especially with how people are now aware of how HHN works, having no small children at the event, I think this would work. Just the thought of how they could reinstall horror into each land, even with a similar conceptual style to their first outing would be awesome.
@OddOneOut6653 ай бұрын
Its bizarre that Maximum Carnage was a concept that predated Marvel Zombies. Imagine if they made a Haunted House out of that now... Also, that Human-Dino hybrid idea was something that was thrown around in the Franchise for years, especially during the development of 'The Lost World' and 'JPIII' (it was brought back briefly when JWorld was in early writing stages too), with the difference being that InGen was doing these experiments on Military Soldiers as a new method of combat against enemy countries. I know you said it was cuz of Child Kidnapping, but... Wasnt 9/11 also a HUGE reason behind HHN's brief decline too? I mean, they had to Tone down just about everything in '02, which might have also led to Universal moving the whole thing to IoA in the first place. Maybe they can bring some of HHN to Epic Universe next year and just leave Island out of it for good.

I dont think universal had any issues with Jurassic Park, being based on their film IP. But i have been watching that there is so much behind the story of hybrids being used that literally spawned into Jurassic World (aka JP4). Especially that we were literally inches away from a JP Dino-Human hybrids flick. But what made Project Evilution that it literally expanded the lore to JP, & which people often forgets that JP & TLW novels are literally Horror Sci-fi. So project Evilution actually fits well into the JP film series. I hope we get Jurassic Park back in HHN, there is so much to be explored thanks to JW with hybrids.

I went to this when I was 10 or 11. Here's some memories, if you're interested. MARVEL: They didn't hang up dead heroes in the Carnage house, but their tattered (some times bloody) costumes were hung up everywhere. I distinctly remember Carnage (and maybe Venom) standing on platforms above everybody waving their arms around, as though directing everything. The house wasn't scary, but it was a major bummer for me as a kid. I really didn't like it. JURASSIC PARK: The scare zones where fantastic. The raptors were great, and they had guys on stilts dressed like the rocks and foliage (completely camouflaged) who would jump out at you. The effect was great. We would watch them lean back against the rocks after scaring someone and they would completely disappear when they closed their eyes. I vaguely remember the house. Mutant hybrid dino-humans, if I remember right. Some of them in tattered lab coats, I think. TOON LAGOON: They didn't just pump smoke into the area, they also pumped a lot of foam and had blue lasers shining through the smoke overhead, as though you were underwater. My one memory of this is someone in my group was in a wheel chair, and the person pushing it got scared and launched the wheel chair forward when they screamed. I ran up to catch the chair, but couldn't stop it because my feet, firmly planted, just slid through the foam like locked brakes. We ended up crashing into a trash can, and laughed about it all night long. FEAR FACTOR: I just remember the freak show in the line. They had guys hammering nails up their noses and a guy with lizard-scale tattoos sticking his tongue out at you. Very 90s. Pretty gross. I went to the parks a lot when I was a kid (90s - early 2000s). If you have any questions, send them my way. I'll do my best to remember.
@edwardpolley16014 ай бұрын
I want to add, the raptors in Jurassic Park were very convincing. They kept the area incredibly dark, so the dinosaurs looked real. The pictures you're seeing in the video were probably taken with a flash. In person, the raptors looked great.

I imagine once epic opens they’ll utilize Dark Universe in some capacity for Halloween Horror Nights.
@mr.x63135 ай бұрын
The problem with Halloween Horror Nights is that they have a very narrow definition of “horror.” For them, “horror” begins and ends with 80s slasher films: bloody, gory, over-the-top, and disturbing. That is FAR from the extent of what horror is. Horror can be gross and disturbing, but it can be so much more: Gothic horror, cosmic horror, existential horror, surreal horror, etc. Imagine if Epic Universe were to have their own horror nights event, but with each IP paid the respect it’s due while incorporating in-universe horror themes. Isle of Berk could be a generally family friendly land that nevertheless has wild dragons stalking the island and terrorizing the Vikings in bloodless fashion, with liberal amounts of fire. Super Nintendo World could have Bowser’s army invade the island, with Dry Bones and Boos wandering around to create a mildly spooky atmosphere, complete with a Luigi’s Mansion scare maze. Wizarding World could, of course, have scary Death Earers roaming around the streets of Paris. And, of course, Dark Universe would have the universal monsters out in full force, slightly more intense than the other lands and obviously aimed at older fans, but still not excessively violent, as a nod to the bloodless monster movies that inspired the land. It could work.

Im curious if they’ll do it this year bc of the park’s anniversary

I went to the IOA HHN the first year they had it and I also went with they had both parks involved. I remember the Maximum Carnage house because it looked like a fortress out of Mad Max with barbed wire and sheet metal all over and flames shooting out the top. The house in Toon Lagoon Scary Tales was actually pretty good. Lastly, I was hoping you brought it up and you did, the Psycho Scarepy house and the smell of sh*t. It was an insane asylum so they had it all over the walls and you could smell it everywhere in the house. Out of all the things from that event, that is the one I remember most vividly. I remember one of the reasons they moved it from IOA was because the paths weren't wide enough to have the Festival of the Dead parade anymore, but I don't think they brought it back at all after moving back to UO. That was my favorite part of HHN, but its probably too crowded to bring it back now.

I remember the year they did a HHN/Studios dual takeover... We left exhausted but it was still a fun time.

My husband and I are new to Orlando, so hoping we can finally go this year! I’d love for them to do a house or scare zone based on Spooky Island from the Scooby Doo movie

OMG yes! I’ve been clambering for a Spooky Island theme for a long time! Maybe that’s their way back into Islands of Adventure for the event! 👀 Can’t wait to hear if you make it out this year! Already shaping up to be one hell of an event 🙌 Thank you so much for watching 🙏

Having two parks open at the same time isn't the godsend you may think it is. I was at the 2004 event and the foot traffic was probably the worst I've ever seen. Constant bottle necks would occur at the two scarezones (filed of screams and that other one) that interconnected the parks. Trapping you in there for what felt like 15 minutes. To get away, I spent most of my time in the blacked out portions of the map (Jurassic Park). They didn't advertise it but they actually had actors hiding and scaring you in there.

I’m surprised that you didn’t mention HHN 15, which is the last Horror Nights at Islands of Adventure before moving back to the studio the following year. That features a new Icon in the Storyteller and setting up a dark world within the theme park with houses and scare zones connected to the lore behind this said theme. That would’ve been something to talk about in KZbin. #WherearetheGoodCartoons?

Thank you for this great vlog - we learned so much about HHN lore - we've been coming down for a few years and are newer to the event. You guys always talk about Easter eggs in the summer tribute store - the one room that showcases the 3 classic movies- Ghostbusters/Jaws/Back to th e Future. Wouldn't these be fun houses - the old Ghostbuster house was scary comical. The HHN team is so creative-they could pull it off!

Rumor has it, Ghostbusters might be one of the big houses this year(but this has still not been confirmed by universal) so you might just get your wish very soon 👀 Thank you so much for watching 🙏

The movie “Stay Tuned” would be a great deep dive for a house.

I had no idea about any of this! Thanks Ryan!

I didn't get to the IoA based events, but for me that "Camouflage" Scare Zone would only be second-worst. Worst for me was "NightMaze" in 2011. Probably the most I've ever been excited for a Zone before or since, by its description. And the biggest letdown on how it actually was.

I’ve gone to HHN a lot and actually went the year they had it in Universal and Islands. I enjoyed it a lot as it gave them more room and possibilities

I would absolutely love to have another Alfred Hitchcock house! I’ve only been going to HHN since 2018, so I never had a chance to experience the prior Hitchcock/Psycho houses

Jigsaw should make its way to the park that would be a fun year round IP to introduce!!!

Very interesting 🙂😎 Cool vlog, thank you. I would love to see something from Star Trek with a Borg Cube as the horror house.

Pretty sure that Epic Universe might be used in 25 or 26. The classic monster zone basically guarantees it. Please just dont let there be corn.

I think a Honey I Shrunk the Kids house would be amazing, as you would shrink to the size of an ant to find some device in a tiny cave, but be attacked by spiders, worms, etc. and if they can’t get the rights from Disney, they could get Microsoft involved and have Grounded, which is another shrinking-based video game, be the theme for the house

This was an awesome video. I can’t believe all the shitty (literal shitty) ideas that Universal went through.
