I don't really get this its what a dollar more then APEX top skins which you would have to spend $20 to get anyway. I have less an issue with price as I do their lack of currency in the BP, forcing bundle purchases to get some of the new skins, really low currency rewards from weeklies and lackluster rewards from the actual event. Sure we get two Legendary skins from Twitch and Login during the event, but why not just make a free event BP that can be grinded with both those in it along with the other things.

I also just prefer doing challenges for skins in games over anything else. A good example of challenges for skins would be cod ghosts, whether you liked the game or not, the system to get skins in that game was the best I’ve seen out of most games I’ve played.

Fun fact: The Kiriko witch skin in the bundle's banner is a different color variant to the one we actually get. The way you can see it is by looking at her leggings and the main outfit, which are different colors in each skin. This isn't the case for Junker Queen's skin and banner, though. it's important to pay attention to how this event is because using Overwatch 1 as a general guide it will only get worse and worse from here. The PVE is fun? ye. But it's the exact same mode as Uprising with different gimmicks. Also something that I would like to add with the bundles: The percentage that shows how much you "save" actually changes once the game realizes you have something already. The Cassidy bundle for example shows a 50% discount, as instead of 3000 credits you would only spend 1492 (not exactly 50 percent but this is fine). However you already have everything besides the skin. Meaning that the discount is 408 credits(1900 base skin price - 1492 bundle price). If we calculate what percentage 1492 credits are from 1900 its 78,5%. Meaning you only have a discount of 21,5% percent(which it tells you, when you haven't loaded the bundle, so it doesn't realize that you already have things) compared to "just buying the skin". I do not think this is how it should be done, as it leads to a false sense of discount. I am not saying that I do not like discounted bundles(the overall pricing is another thing), while it gives the player basically no option other than to buy a bundle to not have to pay insane prices, I enjoy having a discount :D Same thing happened to me and that's how I got like 80 to 90% discount. It just feels wrong. Maybe you can pin this or reply so that my ego gets a boost and others can see this info as well.

Honestly yeah. the whole point of having seasonal events is supposed to be for players to jump into the game regularly. This event on the other hand contains ~20 minutes of new gameplay, maybe a few hours if you want to do the legendary difficulty (that you get nothing for doing) and / or the challenges that give nothing but a few voice lines and a weapon charm at the end, and like 24.000 Coins (~240€) of microtransactions, half of which are existing content from overwatch 1.

a simple solution to paid skins as a whole is to give credits for daily challenges, (incites daily play instead of waiting until next week after beating challenges) and give lootboxes for weekly challenges. Lootboxes could also be earned through the battlepass, and possibly levelling up (since right now there's no form of long term progression.) A simple solution to the "gambling" aspect is to not make lootboxes directly purchasable. This was already a feature with arcade's weekly 3 lootboxes. I really hope they save overwatch because at this rate the game won't last another 2 months

Nah you're absolutely on point man. Overwatch has some of the scummiest f2p model I've ever seen right now. Free currency is on a drip feed such that free players would need 20 _weeks_ of hard grinding to afford one decent skin. And if you pay, the rewards are outrageously priced. No one wins--presumably not even Activision, as there can't be that many people paying them at these rates. They have to dial it back, their competition is games like Fortnite where buying and grinding through _one_ battlepass is enough to set you up for your next battlepass free and still have a little extra currency set aside for the shop. It rewards a little bit of spending, but doesn't require immense amounts.

Hey, Frogger, you have a point about pricing. I'm brazilian and monetization borders on the absurd here in Brazil too. Overwatch 1 was priced at R$ 50; a single Overwatch 2 skin costs R$ 92 (the BP costs R$ 46). it makes no sense! in a more realistic view, for any foreigner to understand, hang out with friends and eating pizza usually costs R$ 60. Overwatch 2's monetization cheats itself to make me spend my money with the game. I love your vids btw

About those skin prices. In Poland minimal wage is 2700PLN (570$) + you have to pay for food, house rent etc. So in Poland these skins are VERY expensive

And i will say it again and again...since i saw the prices of BDO cosmetics back in 2016 (more than 30$ for a single costume), i already knew what is going to happen... All those suits will jump on that train...(because Pearl Abyss was one of the fastest growing companies back then...all because of those crazy shop prices). And then Fallout 76 was released and it was pretty clear...this battle was lost.

Played Junkerqueen once, never doing that again. Beat it on my 5th try in Expert. My first time was Ashe, I shot my dynamite on the door, didn't work, had to awkwardly sit there until my cooldown was ready. The shop is disgusting. It would cost me over $250 to get everything for this WEEKLY ROTATION ALONE. $20 for a skin/"bundle" is too much. $10 is too much. $5 could be justified if you could earn enough currency just playing the game. Instead it's capped at 60 cents a week, and let's face it, nobody is earning that last 10 cents every week. When it comes to OW, I'm a whale. I've dumped a terrifying amount of cash into the game, and now I refuse to spend a penny. If by some chance a dev sees this, the decision to copy Halo Infinite's model was the dumbest move. Even now with the prices better than they were, it's still not working. People make videos every week for the last year making fun of it. Don't spend the next year testing bullshit compromise with gradual decreases until we seem "content". Turn the fucking prices down, give us the ability to actually EARN them. The store is so off-putting, instead of looking at cosmetics to see what's new like I usually would, I played the PvE and got off without even thinking to look. I checked back when I realized this, did the math a bunch of times, felt denial telling myself I must have a tumor to get it that wrong, and bought nothing. I loaded up Halo, looked at their weekly store, bought nothing. All my fav games are doing the same thing and competing for my money, and they're all losing. I'm just gonna go buy a pizza and play something that isn't trying to financially fuck me in a bad economy.

So, in theory you don't have to spend money for these skins and bundles, you can just complete weekly challenges to get currency. If you want the Witch Kiriko bundle (2600 coins) then, at 60 coins per week, you'll be able to afford it in 44 weeks. If you complete every weekly challenge for the next year then buy this bundle, you'll have 520 coins left over. 60 coins per week is absurdly low, especially with how many weekly challenges you have to complete. You can never afford anything (you physically can't earn coins fast enough to get the battlepass before it ends), and you'd just be grinding challenges day after day. It's a disgustingly greedy system where all you can get for free is the basic battlepass items and a voiceline every few weeks (if you play the game a lot).

Here in Brazil the prices are just really dumb. Like, a skin is something between 92-115 reais (Brazilian money, BRL, call whatever you want) so thats like... A LOT. I won't buy any skins from the shop until they lower those prices.

You see how the Kiriko bundle FROM THE START OF THE LAUNCH was 29% off? Yeah it was never not 29% off. Fallout 76 did that when the shop first opened and they got sued. In some countries its called fraudulent marketing and its illegal. So yeah Id pay $5-10 for a skin but $20 is dumb. Here's the thing, because so many people think this way, just decreasing the price to $8 (50%-33%) of the price it is now, there's a good chance that over 4x the amount of people would buy it still making blizzard a profit.

It just reminds me of when they were trying to assuage us about skin pricing from their survey before launch where they put 45USD as an option, yet here they are, making skins and a handful of small cosmetics almost 40USD. Worse still is the only way to get coins is to do weeklies and only get 60 coins a week....gotta love that when itll take ya 30+ weeks to even get enough for a 1900 skin:)

As a point of reference for the skin process, in leauge ultimate skins (OW2 equivalent of mythic) cost $30. A non mythic skin costing more that $30 with a discount!?!? Yeah nah they can be cheaper by a lot.

When it comes to skin, I feel the old system was way better. You pay for the game, and you play to get items. Overwatch Lootboxes were the most generous lootboxes comparatively and now I miss them.
