To underline Jeremy's comments this vid - there is a vast gulf between 'killers have to always let people go' and 'killers have to not be anti-fun assholes'. That gulf is where the reasonable people live. We don't slug, we don't tunnel and we don't camp hooks - but we also don't wander around letting people do whatever they like. We're here to play the game and let everyone else play the game too.

It’s true! As nice as the occasional nice killer that just wants points, ultimately I just wanna play and see if I can run killers better or the perks I’m trying are a good combo- I don’t care about dying, I just want to get to play

I've gotten super unsympathetic when slugged. If you slug me at the end of the game to go kill the other person? I'm gonna make myself IMPOSSIBLE for the killer to find. They waste my time I'll waste theirs. I'm normally not toxic at all. I don't tea-bag. I don't use a flashlight unless I have a challenge. I take hooks. I'll take chase from someone two hooked or who's been running a while and needs to heal. I try to be decent to my team and to killers. But slugging fills me full of demons.

Platy: I have s gen build Also Platy: Imma run this Killer, take chases, thwart their every move, and generally not work on generators and mostly annoy the Killer He should really change to a Chase/Troll build. He plays more like the Hero anywya (when with Jeremy, he will often take chases off and act as a protector). Or if he used perks that helped them watch the Killer and he reported it or the Killer was visible when Platy is doing shit.

I think I just had a brilliant killer idea but man would it be hard to get the rights and do right. Darth Vader. If done right, he would make for a terrifying killer. Just hearing his breathing the way you hear the huntress hum, a slow calculated/intimidating walk the way Michael Myers does, and then nailing the power set. If handled correctly, and done well he would be absolutely terrifying. Unlikely to ever happen but I prefer thinking of the unlikely and difficult ones cuz I think they're more interesting if they were done right than the obvious ones.
@terminator9002Ай бұрын
Also, Luke as the survivor. One of his perks, "I have a bad feeling about this..." either some sort of aura reading ability or some sort of boost, activated by anything from not being full health to being unhooked or even just being in the killers terror radius(with exhaustion for that option of course) or possibly even different levels based on other survivors dying before you. Another perk idea, "Where's R2 when you need him?" When repairing a generator alone, you have less skill checks and repair slower but have a greater boost when performing a great skill check. "Do or do not. There is no try." Once per match, you can stun the killer when they pick you up, causing them to drop you rather than attempting to wiggle free. This last one may be slightly overpowered, but the right nerfing could be balanced quite well, I think.
@BlitzwaffenАй бұрын
One of Vader's abilities should work like the stalk ability from Myers or Ghost face where they need to focus on a target for a long period of time but if they fill the charge they can force choke/pull said person right to their grasp. Imagine how horrifying it would be to have a few people running and suddenly one of them starts to choke and raise into the air before being flung back into the grasp of Vader.
@terminator9002Ай бұрын
@Blitzwaffen Exactly, it should be a rage bar. Rather than stalking, it should be filled by things like breaking pallets and being hit by them, damaging generators, and survivors being saved from hooks. Depending on how difficult it is to balance, there could also be some way for it to start slowly generating as well. Perhaps if he chases a player for a certain amount of time or goes without seeing a player for a certain amount of time, in both cases it should stop when the chase ends/he sees a player. He should also have an add on similar to Michael's tombstone but that is limited to after the last generator is activated or their's one left or something. Michael still has to catch the survivors but Vader's would be a ranged ability so if he could get unlimited usage from the very beginning it would be extremely unbalanced.
@BlitzwaffenАй бұрын
@terminator9002 This would be the hardest part. Vader should be like some Myers and Pig players in that he lacks a terror radius. He should also probably be the slowest of the killers. To change his powers it should be like you said, hitting survivors, generators, hooking a survivor or breaking pallets generates some hatred but the way to really charge his ability is if survivors finish a generator, hit him with a pallet, dest oy a hook or break a chase. While Vader is his most terrifying when he can't be spotted, so it's not too unfair he should have his red lightsaber if ignited. When he is close his breathing should be around but he should have something similar to the nightmare mode of the dredge, something where the map gets darker and you can hear his breathing from everywhere. Unlike dredge that gets a reduced fear radius it should be similar to the doctor's charge effect in that the player gets constant false positives. His attack should be a slam of his fist. His powers are based on the rage you mentioned but more specifically the amount of rage he builds. Low rage should be a force choke that slows the survivor but if they break line of sight they get free but failing to do so injures them. Medium rage lets Vader throw his lightsaber which can break pallets and walls easily or drop survivors in one hit. And then the force choke and grab is max rage since it basically lets Vader grab someone without needing to hurt them. His mori would be to take his lightsaber and repeatedly stab and swipe it in the survivor, cutting off their hands before beheading them, ending with the sound of his breathing as the world around him briefly warps from his rage before returning to shape. The way I see it he should have some down right powerful abilities but most of it takes time, and player success to build up. So the Vader's kit depends heavily on map navigation and outplaying survivors.

To Jeremy's point. The notion that games exist just to have fun is fading. Thanks to competitive gaming, people only see winning as having fun. They don't see the fun without being the winner in everything they do.
@Daeon0Ай бұрын
There's nothing wrong with playing to win in a game with winning (killing) as the primary goal (there's no bloodpoint bonus for letting people leave, for example). There are plenty of casual games on the market. If you go into DBD and are disappointed that someone else actually wants to win and not derp around.. the problem isn't with that person.
@RedDawnFuryАй бұрын
@@Daeon0see but DBD puts so much power into the killer you are essentially responsible for the games enjoyment and pace. It’s like bring the GM of each game, thus you are responsible for the fun of each round. Also you don’t get blood points for getting an instant tunnel 4k. Playing at a steady pace and getting full hook counts and good chases gets you not only the most blood points but generally also makes the game more competitive and thus more fun. Competitive ≠ Dominant
@Daeon0Ай бұрын
@@RedDawnFury Are you saying survivors don't have any power over the pace with all the tools they have (especially now)? I guess you actually think this game is killer-sided. Well, maybe at low MMR. Sweaty SWFs created the environment that casuals like Jeremy whine about. I'm fine with the idea of playing at a steady pace, but this idea that you can never tunnel or never slug or make any tactical decision or you're a bad person is pathetic. Sorry. I would also love to see a comparison of playing for speedy wins over playing for maximum BP per match, what the actual outcome would be. I suspect it would be closer than people would think, with perhaps the latter edging it out but I guess that depends on skill. Purposefully going easy on people also does not equal competitive. I think it's more of an insult, personally.
@RikoLimeАй бұрын
The rise of Battle Royale has been a major component in it. Again, competitive play. There's no cooperative. There's no "it's okay if I place tenth cus I get the same points". A lot of games are "place in the top 3 or get nothing".

Jeremy's dbd videos made me redownload it for the first time in many years to play because he has such fun. I am rusty but still was meet largely with exactly what is described. Here's the tunneling/slugging argument in a nutshell... Sure, in soccer, you could kick an opponents leg and break it so they can't play the rest of the season, making that team easier for you. Or you could just not be a dick.
@AkiraTheHoundАй бұрын
As a former soccer player who took a cleet to the shin(guard twisted somehow), good analogy.
@Daeon0Ай бұрын
In soccer you don't have the numerical disadvantage nor is the goal literally to kill the opposing team.. but sure, go off. Not to mention doing that probably gets you carded so your team doesn't gain any advantage from it really anyway. It's not a good analogy in any shape or form. It's not "being a dick" to manoeuvre and strategise to kill people in a game about killing. If you want to blame anyone, blame the devs for designing the game this way.
@petermatthews419Ай бұрын
Not a great analogy in my opinion - injuring another player is against the rules, wheras slugging/tunnelling in DbD is explicitly NOT against the rules. Which is why when you do them, you're not reportable - you're just a dick.
@AkiraTheHoundАй бұрын
@petermatthews419 doesn't mean a ref sees it when you're trying to break the ball away from other players for it to be called, but the player is def still a dick. Soooo boohoo ig?
@RedUnit10Ай бұрын
Actually, terrible analogy. Since that's just straight up rule breaking. The killers don't get carded by the ref and removed from the game for bad behavior.

Slugging tunneling and camping are good strats for winning but not for playing sportsmanlike. That is only the case because it is not punished as severely as it needs to be. There should be minor rewards for everybody being on a single hook and everybody being on a two hook. There should be major benefits to the survivors while camping slugging or tunneling is happening. For instance if one player gets dropped out before everybody else is even a single hook huge boost to Gen repairs. If slugging happens on the third person the hatch should appear when they have been down for so many seconds. This would stop slugging entirely on the third person.

Jeremy’s not wrong about tunneling/slugging, but I think both are acceptable as retaliation against dirtbag survivors. Particularly the ones that repeatedly just drop pallets and blind in the middle of the break animation.

Yeah I think the people that tunnel kill are generally kinda toxic, it sounds like Jeremy tunned into a toxic player that had been streaming. People should recognize its a GAME and everyone should be having fun. If they're not its no longer a game, its basically bullying. Thats what some people don't seem to get.
