it would be nice if he or someone else could change the generic garbage game we got now
@BSIII2 жыл бұрын
@@ShelfWarmer the way I see it, from experience, musical minds like Simon may easily get 'bored' after mastering genres, such as psytrance. He was at the forefront, and completely changed the game. It's probably why he got more fulfillment from doing something completely different, like Younger Brother, and Shpongle. Shpongle allows him to keep doing things completely different every project, and it's in a lane of his own. I also think that is why Ritchie Blackmore went into the medieval music thing lmao. That being said, I agree with ya. I'd love to have Hallucinogen christen this game with something fresh. Everything is absolutely boring now. Lol. This album still holds up.

They're not samples. Its all FLStudio or Ableton Live.
@BSIII2 жыл бұрын
@@nodiggity9472 no, fl studio and abelton wasn't around when this was made. I forget which software he used, but likely Cakewalk. And yes there are samples in it, like the water, rubber ducky, and drip, but there's no telling how Simon got those sounds. He may have recorded them himself.
@BSIII2 жыл бұрын
@@nodiggity9472 also, the software probably wasnt used as much as he used hardware synths, effects, ect. Electronic music was a different beast back then. Tons of hardware midi together, and processed through hardware effects (modern software is all VST, which first emulated the old hardware).
@nodiggity94722 жыл бұрын
@@BSIII FL Studio was around as Fruityloops as early as 1998, but yeah, 2000 was a bit early for Ableton. Propellerhead/Cakewalk are contenders, but the way that this track is all constructed around one repeating loop, I'm guessing Cubase.
@BSIII2 жыл бұрын
@@nodiggity9472 it is hardware synths and effects, mostly, but even then he was seen using computers, which was likely Cubase, as you've stated. There's vids from around 2009 of Simon showing his setup, and it was even hardware with mixing boards back then, but also Cubase.

anyone know of any filters, vst or general plugin they use for this? it has a drippy effect i cant quite place how to get. I am trying to create something along the lines of how this song works using fm8 for the bass, vocodex obviously unless any better vocal processing is out now. other than that its pretty much just timing and patience imo to creating a masterpiece of the genre like this., I dont have the dedication for a song like this greatness, but its inspired me to at least make a psytrance song again

I have seen some studiotours of his, and the Korg MS20 was used frequently, presumably for its filter. He also has a bunch of circuit bent toy keyboards to create some weird sounds.

most sounds in the track have a detune effect on the oscillator and an lfo parameter with automation.maybe a delay automation too,that gives that trippy feeling.try and play wih those 3 parameters and see if it works ;)
