I’m kinda salty because this is the perfect rangr and setup for the CE hunters to hard carry, the halo 2 hunters are generally better but the CE hunters tend to counter here due to splash damage and seemingly not taking damage from beam cannons so long as they face the front. I’m happy about one thing though, this channel proves that the halo 2 elite ultras and hunter combo is essentially unbeatable. They had the only deathless victories

it's mostly because despite having worse AI than some later games, the Elites in Halo 1 have more shields and health. Normally that's balanced out by their shield regeneration being useless in actual.combat (as it takes a whopping 22 seconds to fully regen and 12 seconds of no damage before it even starts,) but since Shield regeneration doesn't come into play in these, it mostly comes down to who can soak up the most hits (where Halo CE has the edge.) It's also worth noting that he never really has the later games AI dual wield at all, despite weapons like the Plasma Rifle and Needler being balanced around that in Halo 2, meaning their basic weaponry is just at a strict disadvantage compared to the single wield only weapons of Halo CE. The Hunters here are more of an oddball case where the shield could deflect the beam cannon, but the splash damage fuel rod shot exploded on contact and thus dealt some light damage even if it hit the shield instead of nothing, in game it doesn't matter because they barely shoot and get one shotted with a Magnum, but here their Achilles Heel isn't relevant and they practically can't be hurt by the Halo 2 beams.

In a strategic battle... against a different model with superior health what’s the point if the shots coming from the opponent doesn’t even register as damage? As you saw the elites were wiped off the map.

CE had basic artillery and that would fair well to damaging the H2 hunters and Elites just as the plasma beam from the H2 Hunters easily killed CE’s elites. But there’s a difference. CE’s hunters were designed to deflect weapons and even tank heavy shots. Doesn’t mean they won’t die, the beam actually can kill them. But they are having their guard up and deflecting the beam. CE Hunters are more affective in this scenario just because of that. They also held their own in melee combat.

Why exactly does the Halo 2 hunter beam canon reflect off the Halo 1 hunter? Literally every weapon in Halo 1 except for the needler did some amount of damage to the Halo 1 hunter even if you hit its armor. The Halo 1 hunter was a bitch, which is why it was buffed substantially for future iterations.
