I remember downloading mods where you could play as a marine in 3rd person, and i loaded into a modified version of this map with flood and marines fighting in a giant battle at both of the bases. Playing as a marine was so difficult but so much fun. I always loaded in this map when messing with random mods, good times. The ambiance brings great memories.

This, along with Death Island's ambience, is the reason why I wish these ring worlds existed. I would DIE to explore a ring world. Fuck, if I could just visit Blood Gulch or Death Island, I would lay on my back and just let it all in while watching the stars and planets around me. Halo CE's ambiance was so fucking good compared to the other games I swear. It had life and mystery to it all. I want to go here so bad.

Yep, and before I knew about the internet and online games I'd just go on Lan mode and look at all the maps and found BG and DI the best to chill on, maybe danger canyon too and beavercreek/battle.

I didnt have friends to play this with when i was little so i spent all my time in this map alone, this was all i could hear. This map might be a warzone to some people, but to me its a peaceful place

I remember downloading the Halo demo back in like 09-2010. It had this as a MP map and people were still playing on it. Must have put 100+ hours in just chilling and playing with those people.

@@supersnow17 Haha, nice! I was either sphgameplaya or Captain Mendez depending on the year. I was all-in on pistols, didn't even bother to pick up rocket launchers at my feet. Snipers were my one bane - pistol shots simply got deleted at a certain distance, but snipers didn't. There's a real decent chance that we had matches where you were taking me down!

This ambient track's birds and cicadas mixed with the sounds of muffled explosions, sniper shots, rocket launcher whooshes, a warthog engine gunning it and hearing "Capture the Flag" is probably the equivalent of my brains boot-up noise now hahaha

It’s kinda funny when you think about how this audio has birds (from Earth) chirping in it, despite this map being on Halo. You’d think the animal species there would be different 😂 But then again, this is just background ambience that most people wouldn’t pay close attention to, so they probably just figured it wasn’t important enough to try and add in alien-sounding bird noises.
