If I could mod halo 2 I’d make so many custom multiple game types that just have waves of brutes. They were so difficult and that made it exhilarating to fight against

I think the fight is scripted to where only the Beam Rifle can damage his shields, cuz alongside Johnson using a Beam Rifle in that fight, you can also damage it if you bring your own Beam Rifle. He might've altered it to just make his shields very strong, so that any weapon can damage it
