Honestly my favorite scene in Halo 3. Johnson takes the Elite Sniper, and one of them stands up, and you can tell they're still somewhat apprehensive towards each other, but Johnson Marches along with no fear. It cuts to the Marines, and one nudges the other, as if to say "Knock it off, don't stare." Towering over them is the Arbiter, taking the Human weapons. Without dialogue, the music does the heavy lifting and you know something epic is unfolding, the symbol of teamwork. Even Guilty Spark is there. Human, Covenant and even Forerunner, finally all on the same page, rallying behind a single cause. Growing up with the story, finally getting to this point, felt like the epic conclusion this story was reaching. Halo was more than a game, it was an experience everyone growing up with will cherish.

5:30 I love the small detail here when the wounded soldier is rushed by the group. Chief, Johnson and Miranda basically blow it off as quickly as it happens. But not Thel. Instead he fully turns around and watches them rush the wounded soldier off to the (suspected) field hospital. I like to think he does this because this is the side of the war he never saw. He’s witnessing for the first real time the damage the Covenant has done to humanity from a human perspective, where as for the other 3, it’s pretty much reality for them. Just another day in this seemingly never ending war. Also, remember that Thel Vademe, before his fall from grace in Halo 2, was the commander of the fleet that glassed Reach. But even before that, he was responsible for the glassing of eight human colony worlds and the deaths of 1 billion+ humans. So it would make sense he’d be thinking to himself “I played a part in this. What have I done?”

@cyqry4 жыл бұрын
Del Rio wasn't used to having Spartans under his command. Sure he has the Spartan IVs, but they're all augmented marines/ODSTs who are used to the chain of command. Interesting thing about the Spartan IIs is that they were trained to be loyal soldiers, but developed this sort of loyalty to the UNSC itself rather than any commander in it, and gained a sort of defacto position of authority where even the highest ranking officers would listen to them. If Del Rio had ever served with Spartan IIs before, he'd know not to boss one around like that. Hell, Hood even accepted Chief's decision despite believing that he and all of humanity would die as a result.

When Chief reaches the elevator to the control room, Miranda figures he's not going to make it and takes the dive. When Chief and Arbiter finally arrive, his shoulders slump and his arms hang limp when he sees Miranda's body. You can tell he feels a great deal of guilt for not being faster to the control room. Halo 4 was a good game man
@Restorating3 жыл бұрын
Halo 4 got mixed reviews purely because most of the community at the time did not understand the entire universe in huge depth. The first 3 games, while amazing, do not give what the literature does about certain aspects of the Halo Universe. They gave immense hints to things such as, The Precursors, The Forerunners, the wars that happened, rampancy among AI and how it caused them to become more human vs an AI, which showed Cortana becoming what she became in 4 and eventually 5. This hints were subtle mentioned in the game. "Child of my enemy why have you come, I offer no forgiveness for a father's sin, passed to his son." Screams that the Forerunners did something more than just "encountered the Flood and fought them". It makes it seem like that someone the Forerunners came into contact with wanted revenge on them for some reason. Which eventually evolved into the Precursor-Forerunner war. Before 4 was even announced anyone who was head deep into the lore knew these things were hinted. Cortana's Rampancy is another thing that needed more explanation. She's literally a clone of Halsey's brain and the literature explains in great depth why that matters. Halsey sees Chief as her own son. Cortana going Rampant becomes more human in her existence, which she begins to develop humanity towards Chief, showing their "love interest". Its just the continuity needs more management. 5 was just mishandled in general. 4 was a genuinely good game if you came into it knowing that the Forerunners most likely survived the Halo Array to some extent, just not in the form that they were 100k years before current events. Shield Worlds always hinted that there could be some form of Forerunner colony out there somewhere so the Didact being alive was no surprise to nearly anyone who knew the lore. The Iso-Didact existed in the continuity before Halo 3s release, Spark, in his near insanity, refers to Chief as him in Halo 1. So these things, existed but most did not know about them, leading to Halo 4's mixed take. If people knew this info the game is much better because the player has a clear understanding of what is happening and why.

One of my favorite parts about this is the sheer scale of what you're looking at. Installation 04B is 10,000 kilometers across, almost the same diameter of Earth. When Thel and Chief stepped onto that vantage point, they're shown an entire world being created and released into the universe. And yet for as grand a scene as it may be, the Ark's Foundry is just one section of the station.

The full Arby and Chief love story. -10:00 he had his back turned to Arby. -16:00 Arby standing up for Chief when lord Hood didn’t trust Cortana -26:50 Chief looking back at Arby when teaming up the flood as if to say “Bro, you wanna help me here cuz i really don’t know” and Arby’s probably “ey man lets roll with it but lets be careful”. Just shows Chief was uneasy and seeks some sense of comfort from Arby -28:35 Chief fully trusting Arby after he kills truth knowing Arby is on his side and having no more doubts about it. That’s what that nod of approval was from John in my opinion while lowering his weapon -29:25 before they go back to back, I’m not sure but John lowers his weapon when passing Arby, cuz we don’t point our guns on friendlies. A big change from the start of halo 3 when he hd the magnum up Arby’s throat. Maybe he had not enough space with the AR i don’t know but it was a VERY subtle action. -35:35 Arby following Chief to High Charity -36:35 Arby saying he’d finish the fight with Chief -41:20 The final head nod was hard to infer but it just shows how much Chief started to care for Arby as he was the first to look for him and Arby looked back. For me it was like “hey brother you know what to do, i’ll be right behind you”

If you had been with this series since the first Halo in 2000 to the end of Halo 3, 36:28 to 37:41 was one of the most emotional, nostalgic, and amazing feeling cutscenes you will ever watch in this entire series. It's hits different compared to Return to Sender in Halo 2 or The Ark Reveal cutscene. At the time you knew, this was it, the final moments you would be on a Halo ring for a long time. Then it is revealed its nearly a copy of the Installation 04 and the Caption is Full Circle. You just can't match how incredibly amazing Bungie was in this decade. The Original Trilogy and its subset games still shine so brightly and have aged so well even over a decade after Reach was released.

I'm going to be honest. 343 pulled a couple netflix moves. Not staying true to the point of the games, but with interesting twist and gameplay. If they were to return to this trilogy's version of gameplay and story, they'd definitely redeem themselves. They tried this in halo 4. They made a good attempt, a great attempt actually, but it didn't reach up there. Halo 5 was them trying to add in new stuff when in truth it didn't work out. Hopefully halo infinite will learn from it's predecessors mistakes.
