On The Covenant, there is an island just past the starting point of the Hornet part of the mission. If you strand yourself on that island, (ie. lose your Hornet in the ocean) a marine will spawn and fly a hornet to rescue you. You can keep doing this, (leave the marine on the island and ditch the Hornet in the ocean again and again, but making sure you don't fall off the island) and populate the island with a theoretically infinite amount of marines. I remember doing that with buddies back in the day a handful of times. -xT

Very glad I checked this one out, painful challenge runs are my bag, at least to watch other people attempt. You'd think the twist at the end might be disappointing, and I am the pinnacle of "Marty, he's killing the marines!" but unironically. It actually upsets me when people do it... but after watching all of this video, I have to say ".... justified." Deserved, even. Your efforts in this challenge have not gone unnoticed, here's to the algorithm bringing even more viewers.

I saw a video of a guy who saved all marines in Halo CE. He came up with some very interesting problem solving to work around some of the more scripted parts. Plz do more of these.

ive been playing halo 3 again on heroic with some skulls on that increase health and rank, green brutes (the most common ones) litterally can face tank 20 sniper rounds without losing armor, its been a fun time

Nice work! Just a tip, you can drive the ghost backwards to get the marine more secure between the wing and chassis of the ghost. Makes things a bit easier

Wait so I’ve done some test on sierra 117 and if you leave the starting group of marines behind and despawn them the only marine you will have with you is the one you save from the brute so once u get to Johnson in the cage all his marines are alive meaning none of your marines die

Pretty much just play the Halo missions which feature Marines and do my upmost to not only help them survive but give them the weapons to do the heavy lifting too. I let the Marines do the fighting and only intervene to protect them when needed. More content like this please 😊

You should have hooked Barold between the wing of the Ghost so you can drag him.

When we were planning out how to do the challenge we did try a few different ways of pushing Barold including hooking them on the wing. It did sort of work, but the car avoidance would normally always break them free eventually and then we had to re-align once he'd moved it was tricky to see where you were going driving backwards, in the end the "slow and steady" method was just less infuriating approach.

Correct, there's no marines with 3 or 4 players. You could, in theory, get a higher number by playing with less players but you also get less hornets after the first tower, so you might struggle to transport them all.

You only get ODSTs at the start of the mission with 1 or 2 players.

Can't marines mount ghosts?

They can sometimes drive ghosts, we think it varies depending on the state of their AI. For example at the very start we couldn't get them to drive the ghosts, but that suddenly changed when we got to the first tower. But riding a ghost as a passenger isn't something they can do.

Oh the cringe. Videos like this always remind me why society’s fall. The fact we have the free time to waste pushing marines across Halo 3 for hours yet people don’t want to do anything productive or ask questions about the powers at me, speaks volumes.
