This makes me question whether the Forerunners are a benevolent race or not, or perhaps it was an act of desperation creating such a weapon. I sure hope the Captain hasn't been "Flooded". The combat looks like so much fun in this, and I never get bored of watching you curb-stomp everyone in your path.

I'd say desperation considering Cortana said you can't kill the Flood, just their food to contain them via starvation. The combat, while a little stiff animation wise, is very balanced even on Legendary mode so I feel it holds up to this day. The later games will definitely change things up though.

Of course, the UNSC ships (Stalwart, Charon, Paris, Halberd, Halcyon, and Marathon-classes) and aircraft (Longsword, Shortsword, and Sabre) have different names, while the Covenant capital ships are more coded (CCS, DSC, and CAS).

The needler also works great against the flood. especially if there’s grenades on the floor. when you trigger a super combine you can trigger a big ass chain reaction of Grenades, and watch flood bodies fly everywhere it’s funny as hell.

He was once a good prehistoric human, actually. Even befriended the Iso-Didact mentioned in the Halo 3 Terminals. Heck, even his so called response to the Master Chief in the beginning cutscene of this level pertaining to the firing of the Halos actually was a question said to GS's past life by the Forerunner friend (named Bornstellar, by the way)... of course, the past life actually didn't respond to the question, and GS is just misremembering things.

you got lucky with your shotgun spawns, its actually random, i ran out of shotgun ammo instantly in this run, kept getting plasma rifles from the floods instead of shotguns

After hours of fighting The Flood, isn't it a relief to encounter the Covenant again?

Why do you give us such gifts? 0:04: At least I wasn't around to hear him lecture. 0:57: And so it begins... the whammy of all whammies. Hehe, "sod off". And to think Cortana was supposed to be voiced by an actual Britisher. 3:11: Chak-I mean, 343 Guilty Spark... you didn't even respond to Bornstellar's primary question, *at all.* Not only that, the person you're talking to right now ISN'T Bornstellar-Makes-Eternal-Lasting/the Iso-Didact at all! I think you deserve a rest from all this, and a permanent one at that. Time to fight these Sentinels. Good thing too, since Guilty Spark actually has a Forerunner laser embedded on him, thank goodness for his bravado and brilliant laziness, for lack of a better term. (Odd that the cutscene has the Chief armed with an Assault Rifle, only for the gameplay parts to have you/him being armed with a Combat Shotgun and a Plasma Pistol instead. According to the Bungie devs, they actually changed the arsenal so to easily confront the Sentinels and the Flood in the level.) 8:55: Don't mind if we do, Cort. 13:56: So like a madman. Really love Bungie's level naming conventions. 17:42: Great, Covies and Flood in the same room. Bad news for everyone but the latter. Man, the Covenant forces really want to kill John-117 despite the Flood literally hunting them down with plans to infect them. 24:30: If only the PoA bought more of the lock-on variant SPNKRs. 26:56: Those are some docile Flood Infection Forms. 29:25: Hehe, that would have been a nice opportunity to seize the Banshee. Driving a Warthog and leaving the driver's seat so to commandeer the gun turret really feels like playing chess against yourself. Flying a Banshee during combat while listening to the informal Pillar of Autumn theme sure feels surreal. 39:36; And as it turns out, a UNSC task force spearheaded by Fireteam Raven actually went there beforehand (at least sometime before and during "Truth and Reconciliation", so to get some well needed supplies for the other UNSC forces and to bolster Alpha Base; that will explain why the armory looked ransacked later on "The Maw". And speaking of Fireteam Raven, they're actually fighting off the Flood and the Covenant in this very valley, even encountering the Chief himself later on (not shown in this game, because of FR not being a concept as of the late 90s and early 2000s.). If you check around the battlefield, you'll see both UNSC and Covenant vehicles with Flood corpses on them. Apparently, they've actually drove them offscreen, mostly to bring their own forces into the place. Must admit, fighting the Covenant whilst "Devils... Monsters..." was odd, to say the least, although it got redeemed by the time you blindly intercepted those Stealth Elites. 58:40: She messes up the calculations, though at least John didn't get fused with a fly or some other creature.

49:01 if you hop on the rock on the right and jump on the cliff there you can peer around the corners and snipe the Covenant and eliminate the other Wraith without triggering the Flood forms to show up. It makes it easier by eliminating the Covenant Forces, however the Flood never seem to move in close they just stick near the trees and take potshots. Even if you eliminate the majority of the Covenant forces. You also can trigger the Hunters to come out early if you eliminate enough Grunts and Elites, (I think this also actives the camouflaged Elites that after awhile will charge you from your sniper spot if you eliminate enough Covenant. That sniper's nest makes it easier to snipe them from relative safety which can be done before going in further enough to activate the Flood forms to show up. Not that you had any issue.

Find it very hard to believe this is done on legendary. Enemies dying very easily and health hardly ever taking a hit. Certainly not what I remember anyway.

You'd know it's on legendary by the speed on the shield recharge and certain encounters/enemy ranks only occur on legendary. But since you have 500 hours you must have an opinion on what difficulty this actually is then.
