Halo CE: MCC - Keyes Flood Bump - Tutorial/Walkthrough

The "new" way of short-cutting the level. In the beginning, the flood that you put your overcharge shot into has a one in five chance of popping up - crouching in the right spot over him will pop you through the bulkhead wall.
After that head right to open the door to load more of the level (game may pause for a second), then turn back around. Kill off all the enemies you see alive (using the red reticle as an indicator). Pick up the shotgun if you can find it, makes it easier.
When the cut scene is done, when coming through the door toss a grenade in the back to pull the attention of enemies off of you. Try and run down the hall without getting shot to death (easier said than done).
Make your way past the flood to the end - you'll have to gauge what you can do with what enemies are aggro'd on you. Melee the Covenant as he gets out of the Banshee and then steal it immediately.

Appreciate this video, got it in 3:48 with this method which to me is fine. Definitely helps going for Goat Roped because this mission is a pain otherwise and the shield bump seems a lot harder to do , I got this method in about 15 tries. Thanks for showing the entire level as well.

Although this is a smidge faster, on Xbox one MCC it would take longer because of the frequency of getting a revivor flood. A shield bump works every time. You also get a save and if you know what you're doing it's almost just as quick. If you aren't going for a world record.

Thanks for this video! I really like how you smack that guy getting off the Banshee at the end. It's like 'Surprise!' --hehe! I hope this doing this trick is not a problem when playing the Keyes level on the MCC LASO Playlist. I'm a little worried about the grunt killing the pet flood when he blows up. Also, the plasma pistol is unavailable to you, leaving only the shotgun and assault rifle. I believe they won't revive most of the time with the shotgun and the freaking assault rifle is weak as shit against them. But I just finished "Two Betreyals" on the LASO Playlist, so it's on to 'Keyes' and trying this trick. I will post again for the benefit of other LASO players if and when I make it to confirm that it can be done. 😉

*_Attention MCC and MCC LASO Playlist players_* . . . I can confirm that this trick does work on MCC and on LASO as I have done it twice on the MCC LASO Playlist. But a word of warning . . . you do *_NOT_* get a checkpoint after bumping through and going to the invisible wall (as you do when doing the Shield Bump). So be _VERY_ careful to make absolutely sure that all the frozen enemies are *really* dead. Use grenades on the Covies and puffy floods. You can smack all the others to save ammo, but check them with your rifle's crosshairs to see if they're dead (they will show red if they're alive and blue if they're dead). Then it is very important to walk down the hall and back to trigger the grunts & puffy floods to explode and then re-check all remaining enemies. You will probably find that some of them show red again (these are re-animators I assume). So kill them again, go down the hall and re-check again. Only after everyone shows blue and stays that way, should you trigger the cutscene (after which, you will thankfully get a checkpoint). I did the flood bump the first time and thought everyone was really dead only to get killed during the cutscene (again, I assume by re-animators). So I had to do the bump again and this time, after doing all the steps I mentioned above, I got through completely unscathed. BTW . . . if you're playing co-op or two controller split screen, have the other player (or other controller) kill the pet flood that you used to bump through the wall. This will give you a checkpoint right away and you won't need to worry about getting killed and having to do the bump again.

1st try thanks to this. Screwed up the rest so I'm still yet to finish the mission under par but damn is this a great trick. Shield bump can be faster but the accuracy needed is not fun at all. I like to have fun breaking shit. I almost had it on my 5thattempt but I butchered the jump down to the next floor. Should've walked a little further. Cool, got it on try 8 or so. I see why people had problems with not getting the reviver and taking a hundred tries. Thankfully I read comments that said stuff about not pressing anything but W until reaching the grunt for some sort of input based RNG or whatever. Feels like that might not be the case but hey if it has a chance of working I'll try it, no reason to risk wasting hours by claiming the input thing is BS.

Thanks I just did it. It took me about 30 minutes of trying. But I realized that it's completely random if your flood actually falls and gets back up again. Other than that it's easy

It's like 1 in 5 or 6. On the PC version if you don't move your camera and walk straight ahead, apparently you can get it every time. Wasn't able to replicate that behavior.

No, I just drive around for fun, the walls don't have any clipping at that point.

Reviver flood pretend to die and then get back up. He stands where the flood's collision will be and that forces him through the wall when the flood starts getting up. Same strat is used on The Library

Yeah, I mean look at where I stop and look at that weird face-looking spot on the wall. That's where you have to stop and then turn and blast him.

There's actually only like a one in four chance that the flood dude won't die. So if you get really bad luck, you may get a string of him dying what seems like every time. I think there is a way on PC to set it up where you walk forward without hitting left or right inputs so to set the random seed so that he always lives. However this doesn't really work on the Xbox, at least as far as I could tell with using even the D-pad to move and not the analog (since that would be nigh impossible to go forward with no left/right inputs).

have to hit the flood with the rifle to attract him. any other method will either 1) need two overcharges to kill him or kill him directly with one charge. having said that i managed to teleport the flood twice to the otherside but not myself lol

I just started doing this the past hour never even knew about this before and i already have it down. If anyone is struggling with this let me know its easy to explain but youtubers make it hella complicated they either dont explain enough or they just dont explain at all.

@@senboc literally just follow all the smole details. I wish you would of messaged sooner because i kind of forget but main thing is once you get through the door chuck the grenade and you dont want to do any damage to the flood but you do want to kill the grunt with the grenade. Once you get the checkpoint and the zombie isnt dead that is when you are set up for success getting behind the wall is random af but you can keep on doing it easily once you do it the first time keep doing it that way or whatever way you find easier. Once you do something correct make sure to always do it that way changing things up will make it way harder unless you are good and literally have all the small basic stuff down. The bump itself is the only thing that is touchy once you find the way that is better for you just keep doing that.

@@senboc if you are having issues entirely then you have to watch the vid. Literally everything matters with halo glitches... timing, where you look. For this glitch its not hard just the bump itself but if you do the beginning correctly that checkpoint is a life saver you keep going back to try the glitch and doing this teaches you how to properly do the bump part. Everyone has different methods for me though i perfected this glitch within 30 mins very easy glitch in the halo series but ive heard that this is a hard glitch or one of the harder ones and i dont see how. There is actually a harder spot after the glitch that i think is harder than the whole glitch and its just part of the speedrun.
