I wish I could go back when Halo was just released. I remember when I was home watching TV or doing something, my older brother came through the front door with this black box with a green x on it. I immediately flipped out and was asking him "who's that for??!!!?" then he said "This is for you" I was so happy and opened up my first xbox as fast as I could. He also bought 2 games for it too. They were Spider man and Halo. I played spider man first and then finally played Halo. I was hooked as soon as I heard the intro theme and started playing non stop until I beat all the difficulties. oh the nostalgia.

Similar thing happened to me, expect my brother brought me a ps2 with Spider-Man and the incredibles. I discovered halo about 5 years later and asked him why he didn't get me an Xbox instead of a ps2. He said back when halo CE came out it was considered very violent and adults only haha. Of course now I have played all the halo games except halo 2, good times

Halo: Combat Evolved released 3 months after I was born. Fast forward 4 years and it became the first video game I had ever seen or played. It will always hold a very special place in my heart.

Christmas, 2002. 5 year old me, unwraps this..absolute monolith of a console and with it, Halo: Combat Evolved and a twin game disc of Sega 2002 GT and JSRF... My hands barely fit, but I can control the Chief. I make my way through the confusing emergency ducts, manage to land on Halo... I step out the pod. My jaw...drops.. I will never forget that moment. Ever. Even if today, I'm not that big of a gamer, I will proudly say that I was glad to have played games throughout my life. From Halo to Guitar Hero II, PGR and Mirrors Edge. True, it's a shame that the market today, has left me disappointed. But I still have hope for the day that video games will rule the world again, and we have a new generation that cares, enjoys and grows because of video games..I admit, I might have some very thick rose tinted glasses on right now, but damn... I will never stop reverting to that gawped, amazed and bewitched 5 year old rascal whenever I hear this theme :)

The Holy Grail and starter of the FPS shooter games for the Xbox. I still own the original, and I always will. I still play it time to time, or at least playing the Anniversary version. My thoughts about the Halo series Halo Combat Evolved: An unbelievably epic campaign and storyline. Halo 2: Epic battles and equipment. Halo 3: Unfathomably Epic Multiplayer, Halo Reach: Epic Story. Halo 4: Epic Story and multiplayer; but the first Halo lies in a special place in my heart. The very first game I ever played on the Xbox, starting my gaming lifestyle; hey, the game came out when I was almost 2 years old. My brother loved it. I never understood. I then played the game and loved it forever and my brother played with my and so on. That, my friends, is what makes this game special in my memory. I hope I'll never forget these epic memories.

Sigh, I want the glory days of gaming back, when games weren't so easy that you can finish them in one sitting without breaking your keyboard, when there was an actual storyline to them, when the gameplay was solid and the graphics added personality to the game. Don't get me wrong! There are some beautiful games these days, visually and mechanically, but I long for my youth, of pulling sickies to stay home and play Halo, and CnC generals. Those were good days, and while I look forward to the ones ahead, I will always look back and remember the days when gaming was not a mainstream thing, and when you were cool for owning a PC.

these are the glory days of gaming. Good memories will often blind your memory and games you played while young may not be as good as you think. Take counter strike for example. 1.6 is considered the best. although cs go is almost better in any way. It´s basically the same thing with improved graphics and its more competetive aswell! since im quite young cs source will always be the best in my heart, while the kids nowadays will always consider cs go to be the best and cs 1.6 to be shit. fredrik reinfeldt while i think that yes we are still in gamings hayday, i think everything from the birth of the 6 console gen (xbox, ps2, NGC etc) was the beginning and that gamings hayday is quickly coming to an end as shovelware has never been more prominant, not even during the gaming crash of 1983 on the ATARI 2600 but not only that some of the best games nowadays seem to be no better, (and no worse mind you) than the games from back then sure we can only get better from back then, but can we really do any better than we can now? graphics nowadays have probably capped out on their best looks, gameplay feels so smooth getting any better would be like rubbing oil on a wet stone, don't think it would make much of a difference, honestly i think the "glory days of gaming" have finally ended

Why cant we just go back to the old days of when we were just sitting in our house or our friends and we were just having such an amazing​ time playing HALO 1 COMBAT EVOLVED and even though i wasn't born when HALO came out when i went to my friends house they had an xbox and i was like what is this and they said "it's the greatest thing you could have." But I'm glad that I was able to be brought into this franchise since I was young so I could play it my whole life. That is until HALO REACH came and it was the end of seeing Bungie with Halo it was the best ending they could've put into this universe. Even though 343 hasn't been doing good let's just hope that Halo 6 might be good and have multiplayer.

I remember playing Gamespy Arcade (how you played multiplayer back then) in mid 2002, against the Ogre's In Chillout TS. Damn were they good, i was ranked about 55th once but they beat my ass. I'm really depressed that I was only 2 years old when this game came out, I never got to experience playing a masterpiece like this when it first came out. Even when halo 3 came out, it was too late because nobody had ever taught me to play on a difficulty higher than normal so I just mindlessly ran into battle with no strategy. DatTacoTho I was in a similar situation. The only Halo game I was able to play online during its "golden age" was Halo Reach, which was a great game, but it had a few features that I wasn't a fan of (like loadouts and armor abilities). I didn't even have Internet back when Halo 3 was relevant, so I didn't get to play that online, and I've literally never played Halo 2. I've tried for years to get my hands on a copy for Xbox or PC, but it's so hard to find. I fear I may have to pirate it just because I can't find where to buy it. Roughly three years ago, the online community for the original Halo was still going strong; no hackers, not too many modded servers, and plenty of players. I don't know if it's still like that though. About two years ago, I was at a LAN party with some friends, and four of us abandoned the rest of the group (who were playing Black Ops at the time) to beat Halo 3 on Legendary. It was a huge bonding experience. I still remember being stuck for nearly an hour on the final level where all of the drop pods are raining from the sky. It took us eight hours, and I walked away with a shiny new Katana and 11,000 Gamerscore. Now I'm all sadly nostalgic about the older Halo games...

I was absolutely floored as a kid…in the 2nd grade when this game came out and I would go to my friends house to play. I would stay up all night playing. What an adventure still gets me going to this day

I played this game on PC!!!! One of my friends had been insisting me upon playing this game since for a long time....I always refused him.....but finally when I played this game....I was amazed....it was so awesome!!! Plus this theme song!!!! The background music.....damn!
