What I struggle with the most with MnK is fighting controller players that are strafing hard. I've learned to mitigate that factor by playing smarter and trying not to be without cover against a good controller player. Also, using frags to even the gunfight helps. I am just never going to be able to compete with someone with equal ability that has that much aim assist in a strafing battle.
@NoahThatcher3 жыл бұрын
Yea same, there’s a graph of top 100 MnK players accuracy versus top 100 controller and it’s not even close. The level of aim assist they get is so high that a MnK player would barely win even if they had aim bot. I absolutely love MnK for its freedom of looking around, but you cannot win any 1v1 vs controller unless you play it perfectly.

@@NoahThatcher Yeah, having to sweat to achieve the same levels of accuracy that a controller gets by playing casually is what really kills this game for me. I just want input separation across the board.
@DracoSafarius3 жыл бұрын
@@NoahThatcher That data is horribly misleading though. There's no accounting for situation or engagement distance (controllers are more often than not playing closer range which leads to higher accuracy) or the fact that most of the veteran players are on controller. Halo isn't a direct copy+paste of like Apex or Call of Duty and features a much higher TTK so you can't just expect to immediately be a god at it even if you were in one of the other shooters. Also, I can personally attest that the aim assist sucks, it barely works and when it does it isn't strong. Compare that to any of the other Halo games (yes, before you ask I've played them all. I've been in the franchise since I was like 8.) and it's unquestionably the weakest, by far
@NoahThatcher3 жыл бұрын
@@DracoSafarius The data isn’t misleading, if more bullets are hitting, then controllers have an undeniable advantage. I shouldn’t have to play the game differently in the event I’m against a controller player on MnK to beat their aim assist. The data takes into account the average accuracy across everything, including close range fights. I agree the aim assist is difficult to fully take advantage of, but that’s because it is so much more potent than any other halo. I’ve played them all too, and i feel like the game is aiming for me unlike the rest. But our case by case experience of it means nothing when the actual recorded numbers say otherwise, and the top players in the world exclusively use controller, with a few extremely rare very good MnK mixed in. The bottom line though is that in almost every engagement a controller will hit more shots with minimal effort by the player, while the MnK has to seriously concentrate make sure they’re hitting everything perfectly.

Best movement apparently. Cons: Controller - adjusting setting for the most reliable aim assist, buying a controller that best fits you, movement not as good as MnK MnK - Aim training, Adjusting settings for slower sensitivity, Pricey on the equipment. M&K is like painting a masterpiece with a fine and lightweight brush. You can move it quickly and use it with precision. While controller is more like a wide and heavy brush. It covers a greater area and is a little slower to wield, but ultimately it can paint just as well. While both have their advantages, at the end of the day both can make nearly identical paintings. I think controller has a bit of an advantage with aim assist in Halo, mainly because it's a game about sustained fire and not twitch shooting. It's more about landing a high amount of shots (to drop their shield), than it is to simply one tap them. This also depends on the weapon though. Aim assist is very powerful with the BR, largely because of the burst fire rate (more shots can land with tracking). Yet a slow firing semi automatic weapon like the Mangler is better for M&K, where timed shots are more ideal than sustained fire. I wouldn't be surprised if in SWAT mode (no shields) M&K could be better overall, because twitch firing would be more potent than sustained tracking. But besides that specific mode, I think it's mostly clear that controller has an advantage with aim assist due to the shield mechanics of Halo.

@@joshuazeeman7553 I think the opposite is truer. Most ranked Infinite players use controller, I've only checked most of the top 20, but I'd assume the trend continues. (Halotracker Halo Infinite leaderboard website) I agree a skilled M&K user can beat a controller user, but the opposite is true as well. The BR is maybe the most ideal weapon for controller. Because aim assist is most advantageous at close to medium range and that it's a quick firing weapon, allowing more shots to land. A recent Reddit post has some interesting insight on how much more accurate controller can be, compared to M&K. The top 100 controller users averaged roughly 56% accuracy, compared to the top 100 M&K users averaging about 47.5% accuracy (Titled "Accuracy stats from KBM vs Controller" on the Halo subReddit.) OK, I have played with both and here is the honest truth. Unless you have pro levels of aim with a Mouse & Keyboard, controller is your better option. There are 4 major skill components to halo, aim, positioning, gnade placement, and doge/melee. With controller you can cap-out your aim sooner than a Mouse & Keyboard player's aim. The aim components are easier for controller players to master because of the aim assist than Mouse & Keyboard. And because Halo is an FPS aim matters more than all the other components to be GOOD at the game. If you want to be GOD like than you will have to master all 4 skills. But most people are not aiming for God tier. For the casual players, which is what this video is geared towards, controller out beats the Mouse & Keyboard. If you are wanting to be up there with the Pros, then that's when you see it to start to level out. That's because Mouse & Keyboard players at that level already have their aim mastered so they just need to focus on the other skill components. I will say M&K Players do have a slight advantage when it comes to Gnade placement and melee because of the ability to turn around faster. But that pales in comparison to an advantage in aiming. I’m the type of guy that likes to give everything a purpose. And my resolution was so i use controller and only switch to MnK whenever my controller dies or if the player on the other team r gud so i could aim slightly better cuz im better like that. But this is just how i do it. And its just my personal opinion so. Anyways this video was great! Thx for the help.
@MainsDude3 жыл бұрын
And i know i could plug it in so it doesnt die but like i said, i give everything a purpose so making MnK have to reasons for playing this game is better than one. And lastly for anyone who says i could just use controller with MnK for other games, i mean that i want to have a reason other than complete boredom of one play-style to another

Long range is atrocious for M/K. The strafe speed in the game increased the skill gap between good and average players so it's really doing it in for most people.
@DracoSafarius3 жыл бұрын
Yeah their removal of the momentum (slowing down and then reversing the strafe before hitting max speed) really crushed people that aren't used to tracking

Don't know if you check old video comments but I have aim assist on knm and I play on PC I noticed I have aim assist when standing still and looking at an enemy that's running around it's VERY light barely as strong as controller but it does help a bit it sucks when I aim at someone and another enemy runs by and my aim gets thrown off by them though

Is there a difference between bullet magnetism and bigger hitboxes ?
@moonmoon24792 жыл бұрын
Yes. A bigger hit box means just that. Bigger target. Bullet magnetism means bullets are drawn to the target. This means that a big hit box would still be tricky to track properly at certain ranges. But bullet magnetism ensures you could have god awful tracking and still hit the target. I get why it exists. It can be frustrating without it. Try playing Max Payne 3 on controller. It doesn’t have bullet magnetism. You might be pixels off target and that causes a miss. Hell, the hitboxes in that game are buggy already on M&K. Play on controller and you will really notice it.
@Ash3s_973 жыл бұрын
In my personal opinion, I don’t think that the aim assist is the problem as the bullet magnetism is. You can see in the video that bullet magnetism is on the edge of the circular reticle. For numbers sake, let’s say that that is equal to 100% bullet magnetism, if they reduce it to say 90% then it would be better. Meaning that the other player’s head has to be inside line of the reticle for bullet magnetism to work. I think that would make for a better experience all around.

as a recent kbm player, Kbm is still objectively less advantageous in this game. It highly relies on tracking and dustin has even said this. U cannot frag out as well on kbm as controller.

@timaragon3 жыл бұрын
It's not really a debate. If you're a casual or ranked player, it doesn't really matter, but if you're serious and want to go pro and win tournaments, controller is the way to go. Someone did the work to compile the accuracy stats from Halo Tracker for the Top 100 Controller players, Top 100 Mouse & Keyboard players and the 50th percentile (Plat 6 and up) of each peripheral. The stats showed that on average that the top 100 controller players were 12% more accurate than keyboard players. With the 50th percentile of controller players being 16% more accurate than KBM/M&K players. The graphs shows that the top half of the Top 100 players are in line with the 50th percentile of controller and not the Top 100 controller players. That's a big difference. Yes, KBM has advantages but controller still just outclasses it in Halo Infinite.
@TheChristopherJack3 жыл бұрын
Big advantage, but does that translate into winning & KDA? KB&M is naturally going to miss more on the spray shots. If you miss a full 30 clip with your spray weapon, then land 10 straight head snipes, that will lead to 25% accuracy, but you landed the shots that counted.
@Lorentz_Driver3 жыл бұрын
7:05 "If you can aim, you can aim. Input doesn't matter." If that were true why does controller have reticle stickiness? They're two completely different areas of fine motor control. That's like saying a F1 driver would automatically be good at crocheting.
@petersilie38263 жыл бұрын
U got it wrong. He meant it for the given state. Ofc M&K would be better if there was no assitance for M&K / controller. But Controller has reticle magnetism so in the end its up to u. He didnt mean it in general for every game

@Vofyn3 жыл бұрын
The summary of the video is bad. At the current state the only viable input for comp halo is controller. Difference in accuracy between controller and MNK is ridiculous. Based on statistics top % of mnk players aiming a little better than AVERAGE controller players. This is just stupid.

I'd like to see a video discussing whether some weapons are better or worse with each input method. Like, I'd expect tracking weapons to be better on controller, and flick weapons or weapons where their effective range goes past where reticle friction applies, to be better on MnK. How well does this apply to Infinite in practice, though?

Sadly, this video goes out of its way to be so unbiased that it has actually become biased. It's "almost" objectively true that controller is better, and avoiding that conclusion just comes across as being further biased towards controller. The data has been reviewed, the accuracy stats are in, and you even have the MnK person in this very video acknowledge that controller is better. Controller is actually so much better that I felt like I was cheating using it and had to switch to MnK just to make the game seem fair. I would recommend you to prioritise the reality of a topic rather than trying not to upset anyone. Otherwise you'll just end up upsetting everyone 😅 good luck!

@marshallbneil39813 жыл бұрын
It's the combination of aim assist and bloom that is turning PC players away. Aim assist keeps the reticle on them longer, while the bloom literally makes "precise accuracy" non existent. Just shoot near em and you're good. You can see the frustration right? I'm not saying it needs to be taken away but if they want a PC following then they need to make it balanced. I know you can admit CoD and Destiny were far more balanced across platforms.

@paulcox24473 жыл бұрын
I definitely have to turn your destiny brain off controls feel super floaty because of the lack of auto aim . (Cursor actually slowing down there's quite a bit of bullet magnetism) It can make the micro adjustments once you're on people feel very different. Plus all the guns feel much more similar to one another. 😆 I found my destiny brain was much more effective and Halo 5 where we had more movement options lol

I wouldn't say either can shred at a high level. I don't think a m&k player will ever be able to keep up with controller at a tournament level. I'm glad they have a separate m&k only competitive playlist.
@TheChristopherJack3 жыл бұрын
Most competitive games are dominated by m&kb players. Halo was originally an xbox exclusive so it's major player base comes from controller only backgrounds. Perhaps the aim assist will keep controller dominant or maybe long term they'll look at balancing both inputs to play simultaneiously in competitive, like Fortnite. All I know is, I play m&kb & do consistently better than my controller mates & seemingly the average player too.
