Does the putty harden to a more of a plastic or are these custom figures relatively fragile?

No I could throw them across the room and they would be okay, definitely not fragile!!!

Matty’s comment is true to an extent. I would recommend using some water and it will be harden if you use the right mixture even then it will break if you treat it harshly or bend joints with green stuff
