Yeah normal felt like the hardest it’s ever been for me. Also couldn’t find cover anywhere and the enemies are everywhere and flank you. Legendary is going to be tough.

I finished the game on normal & dealing with the hunters there plus the brute boss levels with their Fucking Hammers.. then dealing with the flappy mouth teleporting alien at the end, i just about quit from there fights on just normal (ive completed the previous halos on legendary) i can't imagine those parts of this game on heroic or legendary

They are still ruthless on normal. It takes FOREVER TO KILL. I found that using a Skewer to shoot them in the head was the easiest and fastest method. Like I remember throwing all my grenades at them. I also noticed it very hard to shoot there backs like the other Halo games.

It's ironically... lore accurate. In the books, whenever they met hunters, they'd try to avoid them rather than fight them. In Forward Unto Dawn (the movie), Chief states it took all of his ammunition to kill just one of the hunters.

I quickly realised when first playing, there’s no point in trying to go for the back or getting close. I’m just asking to die and go through more pain. Risk isn’t even worth it. I don’t even have to try because they’re already intimating, and any other enemies around will screw me over if i try

@@Cmdr_DarkNite Can confirm, these hammer chieftains have killed me plenty of times on heroic already. Specifically bassus who just surprised me with his boss fight, and the white armored one who shows up before tha last phase in the harbinger bossfight. Sometimes they just do this near-unavoidable lunge/jump and insta gib you with an aoe attack. Even with maxed out grapple and thruster, I struggled with those guys. Oh also they're hella fast and will outsprint you

It's nice to see the hunters be actual threats again. Back in Halo CE when the hunters roll in it's brown trousers time (unless you have a magnum, in which case it's a single bullet).

Hunters have never been threats until this game. First time I saw them in this game I was in a ghost and thought I was just gonna plow through them….and then they went automatic on me.

I spent a good 30 min on these hunters and eventually gave up. I had SIX rockets, six grenades, and a grav hammer with 80% on it. I would even poke them down a bit at first using the shock rifles the brutes have nearby. Even after poking them down with shock rifles, and then also hitting one of them with 6 direct rockets, all my grenades, and a gravity hammer hit or two, BARELY enough to kill ONE of them on legendary. Absurd, but I kinda love how insanely difficult they are.

I think I beat Halo 3 on legendary and I can't remember it being nearly as tedious as what this looks like. There must be some major snags in this campaign on Legendary.

I’ve beaten the game on legendary now, and I found that using a needler out of all the different weapons you could possibly use is actually fairly effective. But whenever I didn’t have a needle on hand I made do with whatever and just targeted their kneecaps which are almost always visible and vulnerable.

@@Kuraname I managed to get behind them once... in my whole playthrough. after they spotted me, I hid and did not show myself until I was behind them. Good news, if you have a sniper you can sort of stun lock one of them... bad news, the other one will still be shooting. Honestly I prefer to chip away at both of their health at the same time so that I wouldn't have to deal with one full health enraged Hunter.

I’ve often found the AI gets a little goofy if you’re far enough back and most of the time when fighting a hunter or more accurately a pair of hunters there’s usually some cheese spot up too you can stay in and they won’t really shoot at you

unless the AI gets stuck in super long range mode where they know precisely where you are at all times and are really good at aiming at you. Unfortunately many enemies get stuck in this AI mode instead of the normal mid-range AI.

Just finished the campaign on Legendary. Mobility and shield wall is what saved me, which was turning invisible first with 2 thrusters, grappling hook to a safe distance, then throw down a shield wall (has to be fully upgraded). There’s always a power weapon nearby when you encounter them and shooting through the shield wall will do extra damage

They're pretty much the same on heroic too. I recommend using the needler and aiming at their knees. Towards the end of the campaign there's two red hunters that have plenty of needle ammo in their room.

I love the sound of them in this game, like their actual audio files. They sound so dangerous, and they reflect that in gameplay on legendary. That guttural growl really pounds home how absolutely terrifying they would have been to face on the battlefield.

Hunters on Heroic takes 5 shots of skewer to the head while the other enraged Hunter takes 5 with a fusion coil, hammer or energy sword once

I fought them today on heroic difficulty and they're absolutely a pain! Wasn't carrying any power weapons just a Mangler and a Stalker Rifle, They destroy tanks like nothing after like 30 minutes of trying i was able to beat them and if felt like I went through an actual war.

Kinda wished they had a bit more of the Banished chunkiness to their design like they had in Halo Wars 2, but holy hell it looks like it would be near impossible to deal with them up close on legendary. Too bad they probably didn't include the "shoot them with the pistol in the wormy bits" to balance out that difficulty.

It's nearly impossible to get behind them now. They keep their distance and keep you at bay with the rapid fire bs. I'm all for tough hunters, but aside from the normal blue ones these feel impossible to fight on foot so far

the A.I. has that bullshit flaw of modern A.I. where it knows where you are at all times and sucks at pretending it doesn't. Combine that with the dumb idea of "lets make hunters turn faster and shoot faster" and you get the hardest enemies in the game. No really, why the final boss wasn't just 4 red hunters is beyond me as that would be more difficult than any other boss fight.

My first Halo Campaign was Infinite. When I played CE in the MCC and faced them for the first time, I had to check to make sure my game wasn’t on easy because it took 2 total back Magnum shots to kill the hunters.

Obviously you shouldn't take on Hunters with a sword. I was using a special sword here which grants a speed boost. I did this to showcase how they act when you're up close. You can't even get close to these guys for very long. There are a lot of varieties of enemies in this game, and that's all I will say as to not spoil. I wish you luck on these tougher encounters. You have to think about them differently than you're used to! "Just get behind them" isn't exactly an option.

I just dropped in grabbed the skull, boosted twice with invisibility effect then grappled out of there like a madman. Without the skull to protect, the hunters grew hopeless, than turned on eachother due to overwhelming grief of the loss of the skull, the one thing they cherished in life. 1 hunter was victorious, and then jumped off the nearby cliff for he could not live with the death of his only friend. "Curse you master chief!" echoed off the walls as he plummeted to his death

Huge fan of the halo franchise. Just bought infinite and I’m up to the 2nd boss, Mr Lok. I died a thousand deaths and finding him awfully difficult. I thought Tremonious was insanely hard, but that seems like a cakewalk compared to boss #2. I saw this come across my recommended videos and clicked because I’m so curious, but stopped a few seconds in after you talked about finding two. I haven’t read about or watched anything to do with Infinite, because I want to play the campaign without any bias and take it all in as I experience it, and so far, I think this will wind up being my favorite Halo. I’m enjoying the heck out of it, and the new weaponry. The grapple is by far the best new addition, it already feels like it belongs and has been there all along. Thus far, it’s a 10 of 10 for me, but the bosses are ridiculously frustrating and difficult. I always like a good challenge but the bosses are beyond a good challenge.

That damn room nearer the end of the campaign with the two Hunters in it on Legendary was legit harder for me than any of the boss battles. Lol, I feel like they need a slight speed reduction so flanking them can feel a little less frenetic.

their speed is not the problem, it is their turn speed. They are over-tuned because you are meant to shoot their knees but 1. the game never says this and it is not in the loading screen tips and 2. most of the time you do not have the time to shoot that accurately. Sure, you can use the dropwall, but if you get unlucky and they hit the base it instantly breaks and now is on long CD (without bandana). If dynamo grenades slowed them THAT would be a good mechanic, they don't stun them as is but debuffing their speed while getting zapped would be a good addition.

Man, I just wanna imagine what it's like facing a hunter captain as a hard side boss from Halo wars 2 head on, with its 2 skitterers on his back constantly locking you in the air and its red focus beam that just deals constant damage with its ability to siphon its health back. Just the fight between You and The Hunter Captain with its robotic tone voice mod. A hell of a DLC if we ever get the chance to make it exist.

Needler, nades and double dash at a medium distance makes easy work of hunters for me. You can nade their back plates off real quick and grapple swing around behind them and sword them too, that's pretty cinematic. Wasp is definitely the safest though. 😜

Shoot right or left leg(exposed flesh) they hunch over (reducing their strafing and movement speed. Shooting their arm (with the gun they shoot) prevents them from shooting fast for a time. Shield + 2 crippled hunters, = Prey on any difficulty. They're a mini boss because of the skull. But I'm sure everyone knows this. They're 2x more beefy than the twin Hunters from the campaign. Kinda like how special targets have over shields

I had almost no trouble with them, literally just used escharum's hammer + hardlight coils on one and the skewer on the other, no need to get behind my uncle had spent over an hour and a half fighting them and when I went through I realised just how easy it was to kill them with the righr maneuvers. and yes I was playing on legendary

@@travis1oo559 I had no idea I was about to fight hunters and only had an energy sword and pulse carbine when I pulled up… Ended up having to use the ravager, coils and that skewer with almost no ammo that spawns. Getting checkpoints in bad situations doesn’t help either

In my entire experience on Heroic and Leg., I have learned that Range and Bottlenecks are your best friends. Keep the enemies distant, and when possible, force them into small crevices and hallways so that you can use high explosives and just dump your whole explosive inventory on them.

Just a tip for anyone else playing on Legendary, I found the skewer is VERY effective against them, even if you hit them in the armor plating. You can also drop like a fourth of their health with the explosive skewer he’s using in the video. For the two hunter HVTs, I equipped an entire team of marines and myself with the explosive skewers and dumpstered them it was actually a lot of fun. :D

The needler is kind of insane against hunters in infinite. It will stick no matter where you hit them, but it takes about 4 clips on legendary. Not sure about these specific hunters though. I quickly grabbed the skull and grappled the hell outta there.

Currently on legendary with no skulls. It is definitely not impossible. Use your hook and thrusters to get behind the hunters and aim for their revealed spots. Plasma and electric weapons are not useful against hunters; therefore, I do recommend using UNSC weapons. Also, look around the surroundings when you fight hunters. There are always spots to keep them on the other side where you can freely open fire.

My suggestion for anyone struggling with these guys is to just go up on the cliffs clears them then go to the FOB’s and grab 4 spnkers from the weapons crates and repeat the process a couple times leaving the rockets on the cliff so you always have ammo

The one thing that has always been true in halo, no matter the game, is that taking on fuel rod cannons from a distance was always a bad idea. Even in halo 2 when the grunts started carrying them, it did not matter what difficulty you played on, they never ran out of ammo, and the fuel rods exploded. Then when they changed the hunters fuel rod to a beam. It was still just as bad from a distance. I dont have any newer halo than halo 5. And from what i remember; hunters were always rare, If i found them on a new playthrough on any difficulty the first thing i did was back track to find grenades and any sort of heavy weapon i could find. I like the red fuel rods being shot, changes the look but still just as scary seeing them take you out in 1 or 2 hits, just like the original halo. Getting up closer was always a better strategy because of the fact they moved so slow and predicable. They always did they same thing to smash you with their shield. If you were agile enough some well placed plasmas and a pistol clip was all you needed. I couldn't say the same for these hunters though. Good luck. Edit. They also seem to have an unusually well placed anti air shots. Even being as high as you were in the last of this video they seemed to almost hit you.

I honestly don't think I could have beaten campaign without the grapple shot.. that hunter room was just too much even staying in the air the whole time. I must say it was the best legendary campaign in awhile! Also shooting the knee caps have been my little cheese, I'd find a spot where I would be hidden and pop off as it's easier to hit the knee caps than the parts that are blocked all the time
