Halo Infinite's latest Tenrai event is almost wrapped up and I think 343 has finally found their footing. Its not without its issues which I do discuss but this event actually landed well!

I think that it's really important to recognize just how much has changed since Pierre Hintze took over. If you look at the weekly updates since the start of 2023, 90% of the time there's a new map, mode, or event every Tuesday. Since S4 released, there have been 39 new maps added to matchmaking, as well as 5 free event passes (Hazmat 1 and 2, Tenrai 2 and 3, and Cyber Showdown 2). Every week there's new, free content to enjoy. If Infinite had been given another year of dev time, it could have launched in the state it is in now and it would have never seen as many players leave the game. Now, with S5 right around the corner, I really can't ask for much more than what we're getting. If the start of new seasons add big features like forge, progression, firefight; and the weekly updates consistently add new maps, modes, and events, Infinite will truly be what it should have been at launch.

Credits where it’s due, however, the game is still as sweaty and competitive as ever. PvE really wouldn’t hurt, or some proper casual playlists, because I can’t be bothered to sweat in a casual Slayer match, that’s just not how it should be.

"What could be done to improve Halo's events?" Here's an idea: music. For every event in Destiny, we get a thematically appropriate music track in the Tower, such as the Dawning having a "Destiny Christmas Theme" that's just good orchestral Christmas music but featuring Destiny motifs sprinkled in. Imagine for Winter Contingency, we got a Halo Christmas theme playing in the main menu, with the monk chant being played on bells with soft vocals. Or if we actually got Japanese themed Halo music with the Tenrai event. Maybe they could even replace one of the useless emblems in the pass with a button that unlocks the ability to freely download the new music track on Halo Waypoint. Idk

I really liked the maps 343 designed for this event and really hope they port them over to the 4v4 playlists, it’s really good.

Some things I picked up on consistently playing and listening to news: 1. Emblems/Coatings are no longer going to be like this as of Season 5 in a bit under a month away (21 at time of writing, so 3 weeks). 2. Events are also always double the length of time to fully unlock everything in it, so if you have 10 tiers and 10 challenges per week, you have 2 weeks to do it. 3. On the Fracture stuff, I rather like the idea of the shards. A little something to give us a look into this alternate universe. Maybe it’s the universe Halo has in another timeline, and our Halo is looked at sort of down on as “Not worth our time.” 3.1. Cool thing about Entrenched’s event was since Entrenched was WWI/Dieselpunk-themed, the idea of capturing territory kind of goes along with common “‘objective’” of any battle in WWI, just to get ANY land be it an inch, a foot, or even maybe few yards.

I hope there won't be any Land Grabs or Strongholds in the next Entrenched event... I just don't get why people don't at least fight near the objective. Some games they do but in a lot it's like Slayer for them. Is it related to weapons? Are they trying to get different weapons before getting gunned down by the enemy? Because in Tenrai, everybody plays the objective, but in Tenrai everybody only has energy swords so you have to fight people head on. Maybe it's not correlated and I'm just spitballing... I hope there will be a Husky Raid configuration, it would make so much sense for a WW1 themed configuration... Maybe like normal Fiesta Husky Raid but mainly human/ballistic weapons to sell the feel.

I recall them saying at some point during the season 4 preview stream that coatings will be all grouped into one instead of how we have it now. Not sure about emblems but assuming when they do coatings, it should also go for emblems as well

Actually, good news about the event pass padding. In one of their recent livestreams or community discord chats (I can't remember which exactly) they said they're not happy with the event pass padding and they want to get rid of it. They said that means consolidating the emblems and shoulderpads into one unlock instead of multiple of the same. So, yes they are planning on fixing that.

Season 5 will get rid of the battle passes being padded out with identical emblems & coatings. It’s a UI change they’ve had to work on. They’ve said it should be ready for S5 in October

Why has there never been a big team sized infection mode? Do it as a Halloween event, it would be carnage if you go for the full 24 players, set it up so there are 4 alphas to start, and they are absolute beasts, then the more and more infected that appear, the more and more chaotic it will be.

what I'd like to see is a fun explanation for how fractures bleed into infinite. Maybe make it testing slipspace tech with old forerunner artifacts, accidentally pushing the ship across different possible universes along with the spartan IVs onboard. When the ship exits slipspace, it's rusted and covered in all sorts of damage, with the Spartan IVs having experienced a lifetime in a completely different reality, wearing new and confusing sets of armour. The UNSC remnants take this armour and start to mass-produce them with a few modern amenities, but they also scour the ships logs, finding reports of events that never happened in wars against individuals who never existed. As a result of the fractured ship being analysed, the logs bleed into the training simulation like Iratus, revealing these remixed versions of classic maps. Y'know, just a little something like that.

I'm glad people are enjoying the event. I just can't see it as anything but a minor improvement over the original formula. The original Tenrai and the newest one both have a 10 tier free pass and focus on an already existing rotational gamemode. The only difference is the maps looking the part, which while nice, I don't see as the massive deal that people are making it out to be

I think both the emblem slots + the shoulder pieces taking up separate slots suck, especially since the latter wasnt a think in MCC. Also, I personally find the item distribution in the battle passes to be kinda off. Me personally, for the last 2 seasons i think theres nothing really worth unlocking past level 80, whereas in MCC there was still cool stuff tucked away in the last few levels.

Ngl thats a hard disagree that the event "feels good". Its 10 tiers 4 of which are filler content of the exact same emblem. Along with that we got a helmet, shoulder pads, and a stance, none of which are very memorable imo. The event content is still unbelievably mid like its been most of the time, its just theyve been adding a lot more maps too now.

In regards to the repeated emblems, the other events prior to this one this season actually didn't have any from what I recall. They only just went back to bloating the event pass on this last event. Whether they will continue to do this with event passes in future seasons or not is uncertain.

They won’t. They’ve already expressed that they themselves don’t like the system in place with the emblems and coatings so going forward they want to make them stack. If it’s an emblem it will be usable on everything but take up one slot, same with weapon and armor coatings. They want the fix to go live with season 5

Halo MCC ignored for over a decade and only fixed because 343 wanted to add it to PC, halo 5 lack of content like infinite and shitty bugs and campaign, halo infinite was and still is the combination of those two games. Halo 4 was bad and died instantly in just a few months. The same could be said for infinite. Cyberpunk had issues, but at least they fixed it in under a decade and issued refunds, and kept their promises, unlike 343. Anyways, goodnight. One detail that I loved from this event was that one of the maps is a tenrai themed remake of one of the first forge maps in matchmaking, Perilous. Just something cool I noticed. Really liked this event, even if it was just swords

@@malif1279they have two AI currently in the works but we’ve heard nothing about it for months. They were in the same data mine when we found out about Iritus. One is called Matti who id assume will be a small bundle purchasable in the shop and the other is Antidot from Reach who id hope would be in another reach event. Since they are committed to giving us the rest of the reach armors I think maybe two more reach themed passes would be pretty cool to see (the free kind that stay like the winter update) who knows but I do agree that crossover ai would be nice

If these events are the way forward (and if 343 is scaling back 2 Armor Cores per season in favor of adding to older ones) I hope they keep making maps themed around the Fractures, imagine a No Man's Land themed map for Eaglestrike or a Cybernetic Tron Cityscape for Chimera. I think a suitable alternative for Featured Story Shards would be a dedicated anthology book for all the Fractures (kinda like the Halo Fractures book, pun slightly intended) where newer writers and authors can work in a Halo-like universe without actually affecting canon. And if enough people like their writing they could be moved up to writing stories for the main Halo Universe.

@Late Night Gaming I would like to see and have not only playable elites but also playable brutes. Maybe even playable flood combat forms or odsts. I dont know how this would work but i think it would be really fun. And 343 most of the armor pieces behind the store and could put these cores in specific gamemodes. They could even add the mark 4, mk 5 armor from halo ce, or the mark 6 from halo 2 and 3. either way im fine with what comes out and the robot armor core sounds pretty cool. If they are worried about balancing issues then when they equip a non Spartan armor core then make it so they cant play ranked and lock it. Or make new gamemodes or bring back old ones but make it so that only that playlist will allow these armor cores

I remember before season 4 came out. They spoke in a podcast that part of the "cross-core" customization plan is to be able to show ingame that "one coating" or "one emblem" would count for every piece of armor, weapon, vehicle, etc. So, idk if it will be implemented in S5 or maybe in the future.

The claim indeed was that cross-core for all *new* coatings were going to be cross-core single unlocks. They were (presumably intentionally) unclear about existing coatings, and there's still no actual *news* about anything else, but I've heard that the helmet attachment system had an overhaul on the back-end that looks like it could be cross-core adjacent.

I'm happy the current direction Infinite seems to moving in is a social focus. Silly social games is what keeps people coming back and the competitive scene will branch from that. Halo should always be made with social fun in mind then nurture the competitive scene from there, not the other way around. I'm so excited to see what these events have to offer once (if?) 343 adds Banished AI to forge, the events can really lean into the theming that way.

No hay nada que celebrar, usan a la comunidad para crear mapas pero y las armas? Vehiculos? Todo lo que agregan y cambian son para fines estéticos, no cambia la mecanica ni rejugabilidad de halo infinite

If Infinite wasn't a free to play game I'd be interested in trying it again, but I do not forgive 343 for deciding to charge me for colors and introducing FOMO into my customization experience. As long as the game still feels too expensive for people like me who cared about customization in Halo, I'm not touching it.

FOMO isn’t a thing for cosmetics in the shop anymore. You can buy anything at any time. (unless it was part of an event)

The game still feels off to me because everything feels so weightless from vehicle physics to player movement. It completely lacks the momentum system feel of Halo, I might come back to Infinite when quickly strafing side to side slows your movement down like it used to and when vehicles feel like they weigh more than a slab of styrofoam. Until then I'll enjoy the amazing mods that the community make for MCC on PC 🙂

Unless they're adding completely unique weapons, abilities, and vehicles for each event, it's garbage and not actually an event. Think Fortnite and their copious amounts of event specific content ad Halo has none of that. They put literally as little effort as possible in these events. They're not good.
