@aqworldshayabusa11145 жыл бұрын
He was a framing device more or less. He was a great character, dont get me wrong, but the only purpose he served within the story was planting the seeds of doubt in Thel. The Prophets had no reason to believe Thel would return from Threshold as ,for all intents and purposes, it was meant to be a suicide mission. That way, the heretics would be out of their way, and even if Thel had begun to realize the true nature of the Halo's he would be long dead before he could do anything about it. I believe that, thanks to the doubt placed in him by Sesa, the entirety of the Great Schism happened. I believe that the Prophets panicked when the Arbiter returned from the gas mine, because they would have plenty of reason to believe that he would hear plenty of heretical words there. And after that point, dispatching of Thel wouldnt be enough, the entirety of the Sangheili had to be dealt with. So, Truth pulled back the fleet on Delta Halo just before they could save Regret from the Chief, blamed the entire Sangheili race for his death, and thus instituted the changing of the guard. And the rest is history, all thanks to Sesa.

@S113Productions3 жыл бұрын
@@yapyapthedestroyer2562 Pretty sure they were all killed. The Jackals being with Sesa's fleet was retconed by 343 in the CE terminals, but if we're going by their lore, most likely the Jackals were all killed weeks before the Arbiter showed up since the Jackals were extremely loyal to the Prophets... well, not really, they just sided with whatever side benefited them most; they didn't care between right or wrong. But if we're going by real world logic... well, it wasn't in Halo 2's development, only through 343's storytelling. During the Great Schism, a majority of the Jackals sided with Truth, but some did end up siding with the Elites. Siding with Sesa after the truth being revealed by Guilty Spark served no benefit for them, and the Jackals are pirates after all and they aren't getting paid on Sesa's time. If the Jackals were getting paid, they probably would've stayed with them. The Jackals were also not an honorable race like the Elites and Grunts are, so that's why Sesa's faction had no Jackals, only moral Elites and Grunts. I actually don't know why 343 added Jackals with them, that's kind of a plot hole because not a single Jackal was seen or mentioned in Halo 2 when you invade the gas mine. 343 could've fixed this by adding a new line in Halo 2 Anniversary with an Elite saying, "Where are the Jackals? We were informed some would be with these Heretics!"
@yapyapthedestroyer25623 жыл бұрын
@@S113Productions yeah I know on how jackals sided with them only due to money or benefits, and how they weren’t honorable. But that plot hole is confusing, since no jackals were even there, there had to be at least some survivors, and spark only killed 2, and the one that had its hands cut off, should’ve been able to live

How i would have had The Heretic to go: Given that Sesa Refumee has deemed Thel Vadam his friend, it would be more fitting if he hadn't shot at Arby first. When the Arbiter sees Guilty Spark, the Heretic and Spark explain begin to explain to Arby about the Halo array and how the Great Journey is a lie. However, mid way through, Tartarus appears and opens fire on The Heretic. The Heretic, enraged and thinking that his friend, the Arbiter, has betrayed him and led Covenant reinforcements over, proceeds to open fire on the Arbiter and Tartarus's phantom. Tartarus flies away and the Heretic and Arbiter engage in the same mini boss fight they have in the game. In his dying breath, he warns Arbiter on the Prophets' true intent, and to be wary of the validity of the Great Journey. Guilty Spark repeats his same lines as in the cutscene before being magnetised by Tartarus's hammer, who has now landed his Phantom. Tartarus drags the Heretic's body, and throws him over the platform. The story continues the same exact way, just that this expands the "friendship" between Sesa and Thel, as the former mentioned in the cutscene. Additionally, the Arbiter has more of a reason to doubt the great Journey, and doesn't simply switch sides jsut because the Gravemind told him to

What's the lore behind the armour "The Heretics" wear? I always assumed it was a modified version of the Ranger armor designed for hazardous operations
@stealthSGMB4 жыл бұрын
Is it ever stated why the Heretic Elites wear that style of armor? It’s very different from the standard elite armor and it seems they were originally deployed to the platform in that armor, so does it denote and certain role or unit?
@crylec65344 жыл бұрын
They are wearing a special harness to be used for mining. Judging how all of them have a rebreather system.
@Psychosomatic633 жыл бұрын
Gameplay reasons: to differentiate them from ally elites and grunts Possible lore reasons: it is stated they were sent to the gasmine on an expedition and from looking at the armor it appears to be a modified variant of the ranger set, and rangers are sent on the more shall we say... gruesome missions, often times failure of these missions meant the most painful of deaths and rangers were volunteers meaning they risked these terrible deaths for pride and honour, now as I said it appears to be a modified version of the ranger set so perhaps a spec ops (special operations) variant for even worse missions? Or considering the rebreathers they wear perhaps a hazop (hazardous operations) variant for compromised zones (flood outbreak and various other bio hazards)and it uses the ranger set as a base for greater mobility in these compromised zones, they were sent to the presumed gasmine on an expedition to glean info of how it operates and learn of it's purpose, aswell as search it for anything the covenant considers a holy relic, considering the gasmine was unknown and mysterious it would make sense to send a hazop squad there just in case it was compromised by bio hazards. now personally I think it's a hazop variant of the ranger set for compromised zones but it could be any number of things, apologies for the long reply but I do hope you at least got some form of an answer from it.
