Exactly, when she released Badlands I was like wow this is unreal that how much intuitive this 20 year old can be. She absolutely captured my mind and my heart and emotions, and I instantly became a fan. And then she did Closer with the Chainsmokers and I thought wow she sold out and is now a commercial popstar. And now I'm thinking I spoke too soon because I know she came back stronger than ever with this new album. Cant wait!

DISCLAIMER I LOVE and ADORE Halsey. I think she is one of the very few good artists nowadays and she's just very honest and real and genuine. What I wanted to say was that to be honest I didn't really feel the adoration for her new single as much as I've felt it for the songs in badlands. For some reason, I feel like the new album is going to be a little more mainstream and the songs will be somehow "lighter" in the sense that there won't be enough filosophy. Like the kind of songs they play on the radio, made for the mass, because that's how I felt about her collab with the chainsmokers too. Idk why I have this feeling, I just really wish that I'm wrong. Anyways I'm just gonna believe what she said over here and hope for the best

Eliana 22 what you have to think about is that this is the first single, so of course it's gonna appeal to the wider audience because she needs this song to be big to boost the album! I think Ashley knows her fans too well to do a complete flip to mainstream music, she knows that's not what we want, so don't worry I'm pretty sure the rest of the album will sound a bit different to now or never (I do love it tho so I'm not complaining lol) 😂❤️

I used to absolutely love her, she was one of my favorite artists and I even bought Badlands on CD. but I feel like recently she's kind of basic, and she seems like she's trying so hard to make a statement. And then her recent music, like her song with they who shall not be named (The Chainsmokers) didn't feel like her type of thing, neither did Now or Never. And I think it's 100% okay for an artist to grow and evolve but not if it seems like they are changing just to appeal to more people. Maybe once her album comes out I'll like it but as of right now, I'm not really feeling it.

antisocial teenager hm, that's actually true. Like I mean, I get that she needs more people to know her, but sometimes fame is not everything you know. I don't fully agree with myself either and this probably sounds very confusing, but fame is not always necessary to achieve success. Most talented and genius artists were way too intelligent and creative to be understood at the time they were living. I personally think the fewer the better (in the sense of fans) because quality>quantity and true fans will know how to really appreciate her music. Boi this went deep but my point is sometimes you don't need the whole world to know who you are in order to achieve success. Those who love your art for what it is, are the ones who really matter.

I love her so much. I really enjoyed HFK the first time I listened to it, but I saw this interview and had to listen to it again and REALLY pay attention to the lyrics and the story. I realized how amazing it really was! She's just so good at capturing her experiences and translating it into music. It's definitely a different feel than Badlands, and musically Badlands is more my style and I think it's my favorite, but HFK is so brilliant. Halsey is just so freaking amazing.
