I’m loving reading everyone’s interpretations of this song. For me it’s that she hyped up relationships and adulthood so much that when she is actually living it, it’s not the glamorous, fulfilling life that she expected. It’s mundane, monotonous and boring and she’s got to grow up and face that this is it. This is life. It is boring, she asked for all this. It’s not what it’s cracked up to be, but she’s got to grow up and deal with it. It’s quite a sad, mature song for me. As teenage dreams don’t come true and being an adult is realising this and becoming responsible and adjusting to life’s let downs.

Seems to me she's singing about wanting that kid of hers. Ruined plans.. kids do that. Silver plater... hospital tray. Everything I asked for... gift registry. I'm probably wrong but with as many of these songs are about her and the baby stuff then maybe this one is too.

yea this hits for me tw// mention of weight i’ll be 18 next year and i’m a little terrified all of my preteen years i dreamed of being older, having a chance with my older crushes n shit (which i will always want a chance w them duh they’re fine asl LMFAO but i don’t look at them as immaturely i don’t think) and i spent most of my years hating how i look, i’ve just now started to try and embrace my shape. and trying not to keep skinniness on a pedestal. now i have adulthood knocking on my door and it’s scary. and i’ve become more aware of what life can be and ultimately is. i know i have plenty of time, but i definitely wished away and wasted a lot of the time i had as a kid. so i feel like the song. i asked for it.
