A friend in the USA heard this piece played on the Genevieve Tudor Folk show. Liked it and sent me the dots. As a melodeon player myself it was great to find this performance when I wanted to hear it played. Thanks, I agree, it is a great tune. My task for the Easter break is to learn it.

Lovely playing, precise enough to be perfectly accurate without losing any of the musicality. That's what it's all about!

It's on melodeon.net under the "other Free Reed instruments section" and a version is also in the Theme of the Month/Schottisches section.

Good that you have the dots - my version is consistently slightly wrong in the B music, as well as having other random mistakes - I hadn't known it long when I recorded this.

I used to think that the walnut of my Oakwood gave it a brighter sound. It is brighter sounding than other Oakwoods, but I don't know if that's actually the reason for the difference. So really, I haven't a clue...! I'm looking forward to trying out a real Dino Pro some time.

I have that version of the music too. I simply ignored most of the chords - they belong to a keyboard arrangement that was recorded somewhere. I use G chords now in one or two places where the recording above has E minors.

What I like about good music is the way it develops through different people's interpretations. In some ways I'd have been happier without the dots (it would take longer to learn) and let the great tune evolve naturally. Not certain what Nigel would think though. The music I have contains some bass chords that certainly don't exist on my melodeon. F#m and d7sus4 being 2 examples (unless someone can show me how to manage them!!) so there is some need for interpretation anyway. I like your playing

That sounds really great. Do you think the current walnut version that is on sale will sound the same as this? Does the choice of wood make any difference? Lovely playing as always. Daddy Long Les
