I find it quite interesting how much one can learn by simply watching, then ask questions. Tower work may be fun, but it ain't easy. 73,

Tnx for the footage Ray. I’ll stay tuned and watch how you pin the rotors someday. That tram line looks complicated

Do you use a jun pole to bring the antenna up? If so, how do you get it around the guy wires?
@Ray-W2RE15 күн бұрын
You have to make sure tram-line is high on mast to clear top guy-wires.

I'm curious how the synthetic guy lines hold up to the weather. also curious about the side loads on the tower from pulling the antenna up at an angle. I assume you have to clear the tower on the way up with the antenna and thats the reason for the side pull?
@Ray-W2RE7 ай бұрын
The rope is from europe called Mastrant. We pull to clear guy wires!

Do you know how to tune cb antenna

You need a couple of small ht's to save the shouting, be a lot safer as well
@Ray-W2RE7 ай бұрын
No HT's. Yelling gets attention and HT requires taking hands off rope

SMALL compared to a MOSLEY PRO-96S which is the KING of HF Yagi antennas.
@Ray-W2RE7 ай бұрын
Old school antennas. Mosley was a thing in 1970’s and 80’s but nothing like the stuff you can buy today!

@@Ray-W2RE The Mosley is built so well that they are still going Strong today. They are built with Quality materials that survive some of toughest conditions. Most all of my friends own and use them because they are dependable and they don’t use Fake made up numbers for their specs like so many companies do.Why would we remove them for another brand when what we have works and they perform amazingly? I run 1200 Watts through my TA-53M and I Rarely ever wait in any pileup for very long.I believe that the Quality of the materials used in their products is why they have been Successful for so many years and they are still going Strong now in 2024. As for me and my friends we are Very Pleased with their products and the price of their products.We know that they will outlast each of us and we will not be making repairs to our antennas and that’s a Big Plus.I’ll put them against any brand and best of all no tuner required and Zero moving parts.You could not Give me another brand to replace my Mosley. 🎙 W4KVW 🎙

it sure does amaze me that will all the money worth of radio gear in this video, that a simple handheld radio was not utilized so that you wouldn't have to yell across the property at each other. working smarter not harder.....

WE can easily hear each other! Not an issue. Radio is not going to help the situation.

I'll show this to my wife. She hates dipoles. I'll let her know that I'm going to take them down and spend at least a $100k on this kind of setup. I'll be doing it for her. Right?
@Ray-W2RE7 ай бұрын
Well $30K is about right for this but $100K wil get you two 100' towers! :)
@davesmith53357 ай бұрын
So you spend thousands on the antenna and mast etc but use cheap RG-213 coax. Why not use Messi & Paoloni or some other decent coax.
@Ray-W2RE7 ай бұрын
RG213U for coax loop, we ran LMR600 from switch to shack!

UV will eat all that Electrical Tape in a Month. That big and expensive of a Project, get all the proper tools and supplies. Check with the Pro's who do Commercial Towers and ask them. Work smarter, not harder.
