Another win for the Mad Dog Coil. This time using approximately 5m (16 feet) of wire as a sloper and the coil to base load it. Little horizontal space required and a better performer than a short whip antenna on 40m.

Ordered one earlier whilst watching your live stream. Very impressive antenna. I got one extra clamp to give me the quick band change option. I still like the AMPRO whips but the Mad Dog really looks the business.

Great vid Tim... I sometimes do this but without a coil and just the full quarter wave of wire bolted to the mag and running up a 12m pole on a wheel mount... works amazingly well for 40m mobile... EI2HPB Dave

My slidewinder gets me on to 60m with a MRQ213 (5m/17ft), so I definitely think you'll do the same with the Mad Dog. I love the idea of using these coils with wire, looking forward to you trying 80m with it, there's hardly any 80m content on youtube! Thanks for the video!

No need for a choke although I use one just in case. It’s a base loaded shortened vertical for 40m in this case
