@@YophiSmith it was more the ' ray- im ' part. I get tired of hearing people pronounce ' ra - im ' as ' rye - am '. The King James bible will help you to pronounce the names. First off it has the emphasis mark which shows you that, then it splits the syllables up. If you do some comparing to names we already know how they go then you can see that names with vowel by itself it is long sound, like A'bra-ham. Name with vowel and then consonant in first syllable is short sound like Ad'am

You are right, I never notices that word that much but now that you mention it, the way I found to pronounce the way they have the names laid out would make the first syllable have a long ‘ I ‘ sound which should make it say ‘ Pheye - LIS- teens ‘. When you have a consonant ( or combination such as Ph ) followed by a vowel the vowel has a long sound. Such as Mo’ses or Da’vid. I found if you study this and get it in your head ( and read a King James ) then you can read the Old Testament and read the names on the fly. Even real long hard ones. I have found most people avoid the Old Testament because of the names.

“The beginning” does not mean “the historical record of the world.” There are many things left out of the text. I agree with you that Genesis is the origin, but that does not mean “literally a historic record.” That’s why people have questions. Because it’s not a historic text meant to be used to answer any question. Where did a sin get his wife? It’s inferred, not recorded. Where was Abel buried? We don’t know. What exactly is a cubit? We got that from other texts, not this one. So we guess Noah’s Ark size based on their texts, not the Bible record. Does that make more sense? I hope so

They were of the covenant people for they were of Abraham and had the token of the covenant written in there flesh (circumcision), that's why Zippora circumcised there son when Moses failed to do so and saved Moses life Ex4:24-26.

So Cush from a historical reference is probably a mistranslation. Noah and his son's probably lived in the area we now know as mesopotamia, so it would make sense that since the boys boarded the ark with wives they probably were also from mesopotamia. We also know that from serial records some cities that stood before the flood were reestablished. Taking what we know from linguistic variations in certain ancient language groups ( ex. Semitic ) similar words existed for certain name places yet reflected this difference perfectly. Sumer - Shinar, Kish - kush . Switching the "k" with a "c" is obviously a more modern English rendering of spelling a name which is obviously pronounced with a hard "k" sound. Actually that k-c switch means absolutely nothing. The African cush and sumerian kish which in Hebrew was pronounced kush are examples of place names who by chance are almost the same. But, the kish from north -:south mesopotamia is a more ancient , documented place. And Kish in mesopotamia is probably a better candidate as for it's geographic probability. The issue with the idea that kush and cush are one in the same is, the scholars who came to that conclusion only knew of Cushite Africa, so it makes sense from a time when information about the ancient biblical world was limited . With many scholars believing that the vast majority of bronze age name places listed in the biblical text being made up- mythology. It wasn't until the turn of the century or so that more and more cuneiforms were found and subsequently with great effort, due to the fact that you had a 3- 4,000 year time span in which these tablets pertained to. Also the many languages which utilized cuneiform ( sumerian, Akkadian, amorite, Assyria, etc.) . Now they are better shipped in the knowledge department to more accurately give credence to the biblical text.

How is it that Zipporah is Ethiopian? Isn't Zipporah (Moses wife) from Midian? Cause Jethro, (Moses father in law) is called a priest of Midian. Midian is a son of Abraham and Keturah (Abraham's second wife/concubine). Abraham descends from Shem, and Keturah descends from Japheth, where do Ham and Cush come into play? It may be that the Cushite referred to in Numbers is a different wife of Moses, but it definitely seems unlikely that Zipporah is Cushite.

Midian is much closer to where modern day Saudi Arabia is, Ham's son Mizriam on the other hand is also called Egypt. And the Red Sea would separate Midian and Cush, and I'm not sure that the dates line up for it to have been where Ethiopia (modern is) more likely South Eastern Egypt (and somewhat of where modern day Sudan is) I could be wrong but I don't think they do. But it doesn't make much since that Zipporah would be from Israel considering where Moses fled after killing that Egyptian, because he sees the burning bush whilst at Mount Sinai, which is on the Sinai peninsula and on the way to the majority of Midian.
