I am watching your vlog from Canada. Snow and cold at your place is nothing compared to what I have at my home. There is 3 to 4 feet snow piled up in my yards. Temp sometime goes to - 40 deg C. but inside home is +20 deg C. Homes are heated by furnace fuelled by Natural Gas. Canada has lot of natural gas and petrol. Gas comes into home thro' a pipe, burners in furnace use natural gas, a fan blows air over burners and hot air is circulated in all home rooms by ducts and keeps home hot. Water supply never stops.. Water comes in underground pipes from water treatment plant to home and never freezes because pipes are at such depth below ground where temp is above water freezing temp. You can also put water pipes underground and then water will not freeze. For heating home you can have wood fired fireplace in rooms. You can install solar power and solar water heater (100 or 200 litre tank).
