In 1917 there was no Israel or Officially Palestine, as was said they were fighting against the Ottoman Empire , it was a World War, I have a greater understanding of WW2, regarding how it started ect. I know the entire area of what is Gaza and Israel was under British rule, so there are War graves in every country that was involved, no reason to believe anything would happen to these sites . Britain would have protected and maintained them, then after WW2 Britain pulled out and the land split into Palestine and Israel & the graves left out of respect, personally I’d like to have these graves returned to the UK into one of our war memorials, so no one can use them in bargaining or hostage, over 100 yrs ago who would believe this sacred land would be threatened. That war was the Great War no one forswore another war , after WW2 the collective World said never again, sadly the World had forgotten, the last veterans who are still living in there 90s wonder why they fought , what point . I am grateful 🙏 for what they fought for , Democracy, which we are currently seem to be loosing . I fear the future, we are on the verge of another world war.
