We animals are basically plants that evolved to eat plants. I mean, look at sponges or coral, looks and grows like plants, but moves very slowly and gets its food from other living things. Microorganisms, photosynthetic animals, and parasitic plants blur the lines even more
Wow so informative and educational! I always thought that jellyfish sting really bad, so I'm confused how he could just pick them up and not be hurt.

I think those are moon jellyfish, I used to catch them with a bucket as a kid. they don't sting at all (I think).

You should try jellyfish salad, there’s not much flavour in jellyfish itself but it soaks up sauces and is tender, sometimes sweet and slightly crunchy/firm. It’s actually quite delicious!

There is a huge demand in china and SE asia. if only these japanese are more enterprising they'd have made billions from exporting instead of just complaining about jelly fish every year

Texture may be a challenge for western palettes but it is pretty good eating. However, I would not recommend it unless you are in a place that has it fresh. Like never frozen off the boat kind of fresh.
i enjoyed this video. it randomly popped up in my feed and i just sat and watched the whole thing in Japanese with no subtitles. good stuff thanks

Watching a Japanese video made by a Japanese person in Japan, and getting the anime reference, really took me by surprise. Would love to try Jellyfish.
This is fascinating, and I’m sure the final product tastes great when prepared correctly… but I can’t shake the feeling that it’d be like eating a massive soy sauce flavored booger.
