You don't live in Hamilton County, you survive there, and I did for over 30 years. At times the struggle to survive obscured what was going on elsewhere. I moved to the artificial economy of Seattle 25 years ago and that shocked me into realizing what I had left. I see more vehicles on a trip to the market than you will in a year watching RT 30 in Wells? I miss the "mountain man' lifestyle and the pleasure of knowing my neighbors. p.s. You can have seconds on your steak dinner at the Hamilton County Jail.

I live in Hamilton County but would argue that the Baxter State Park region in Maine is wilder.

use to go trout fishing up on Ceder River Flow every other weekend when I was 17-18. I wish I could spend more time there.

Adirondack Park is about the size of the state of Connecticut. It's stated purpose is for it to remain "Forever Wild". Venture out only any short distance from the few widely scattered tiny communities and be prepared to accept all that nature offers. Not much different than northern Canada or Alaska.

The modifiable areal unit problem is a well known issue with statistics based on arbitrary spatial aggregations. Arbitrary meaning that the data points (in this case individuals representing the populations of the counties discussed) are placed in boundaries or categories that are not inherently related to the data. You could just as easily do density by town or state or some other boundary that you made up. For more, see: blog.cartographica.com/the-modifiable-areal-unit-problem-in-gis.html or search Wikipedia for many additional references. More specifically on redistricting and Gerrymandering: projects.fivethirtyeight.com/redistricting-2022-maps
