To give you some context. Maria was being abused by her husband, James Raynolds and he might also threatened her with her daughter's life. We are not sure whether she knew that her husband would blackmail Alexander. I will explain more about what happened to her on another video so I won't spoil you what happened. As for his relationship with Angelica, what we know for sure is that they wrote letters to each other and that they were friends. Don't forget that in Non Stop when Angelica said that she's leaving to London to get married she told to Alexander _"Don't forget to write"_ so it's safe to assume that they were close. If something more happened between them is unknown. It is important to note that *in real life* when Angelica and Alexander met she was already married

Hamilton did not deserve Eliza, period. By the end of this, you'll see what a wonderful person she was and how much she loved Alexander. If you think back to Satisfied you'll remember one of the reasons Angelica backed off and introduced Alexander to Eliza is because she knew that her sister would have sacrificed her desire for him if Angelica had made any hint that she wanted him. All through the musical we see Eliza steadfastly loving Alexander, and asking him to make just a little place in his heart and mind for her and their children... and he does this. I can't imagine how much this will shatter her heart when she finds out.

@13:00 "Is that a song right?" The whole show is littered with musical references to classic hip hop and R&B songs if you have an eagle ear you can pick up on some. I'm sure Google will have a list somewhere haha

I did a bit of research on eliza a bit ago and she was such an amazing woman. Loyal far beyond anything u could even comprehend. I personally think it might've been a bit of a polyamorous relationship. She knew about laurens and was ok with it (headcannon). But they didn't discuss Mariah beforehand. (The other thing I was going to reference here would've been a spoiler so I cut it out and replaced it with this sentence) But even after all of that. After the betrayal. She was strong and powered through and sh!t, I don't think this is a spoiler since it's real life, so: long after he died, she still only showed him love. As far as I know, she never remarried. She remained independant. And she confronted hamilton's enemies directly without visible fear.

“Take a Break” just lives rent free in my head lol. It’s such a bop. Also I both hate and love “Say No to This.” Hate because Hamilton is an idiot who should have just taken a break and spent a little time with his family, and love because jasmine sounds amazing in this song.

Say no to this makes me so uncomfortable but I love Jasmine’s lower register and her tone here!!

Also note Alexander's constant "she said, she looked" etc. in say no to this. Very he said/she said, forcing you to view this particular instance through a very narrow window.

I adore your pauses and commentary! I love your enthusiastic and points of view! You make me fall in love with Hamilton all over again. I enjoy hearing your voice, if I want to just watch Hamilton, I can do so!❤

This song is what made me fall in love with the musical, mainly because Alex is stupid and apparently is afraid to show it which you will learn later, and the actress who plays maria, jasmine cephas jones. She has an amazing voice and I've been following her career ever since I first heard her sing this.

i have listened to say no to this 4 times, cause I listened to the whole playlist by myself, someone reacting to the playlist, watching the play in person and watching the play on disney plus. I still feel uncomfy listening to it cause of the amount of spice it has.

Immediate red flag that he starts his letter to Angelica with a line from Macbeth that is literally Macbeth talking about how meaningless life is.

I heard "I don't have any rapping nine-year-olds." as "I don't have any rampant nine-year-olds." and immediately knew I misheard, but the fact that even if I didn't realize I misheard, it wouldn't make less sense to me is really funny.

"I trust you'll understand my reference to another Scottish tragedy without my having to name the play" There is a very old belief in theater culture that saying the name of the Macbeth play on a stage means bad luck _Literally the very next line:_ "They think me Macbeth" You get exactly one guess as to how well the second act is going to play out for Hamilton lol
@emilylewis53732 жыл бұрын
So in American history there are three things most people learn/remember about Hamilton from school. His legacy, as you were (since he talks about in the show leaving a legacy). One he established the first national bank. The second, well the second is related to Mrs. Reynolds and I will let you find out exactly what we learn about their connection. But in a show talking about legacies and a man's desire for greatness, you need to mention all the parts of the legacy that he did end up leaving us with. The third thing we know about hamilton from school, well it was mentioned at the start of the play in the first song, but I won't spoil it if you don't know what it is.

I've been enjoying these reactions but this one is by far my favorite! The looks you give as all of this is sinking in are priceless. Also, many of the questions/points you raise will be addressed later on so I'm excited to watch you see it all play out.

A note: Angelica and Alexander never really had this sort of relationship in real life. It was mostly thrown in for theatric's sake.

The one rule of his life is like Batman's one rule. Self-inflicted and self-enforced. He just couldn't let himself enjoy life. Understandable, given the fact that he is more PTSD than person, but still.
