Excellent! This is great! One of my favorite episodes...well, let;'s face it, the first season of LIS was the best....and there were a lot of great episodes in the first season of Lost In Space. Back when it was still about a family.. lost in space.. real science fiction there.. as opposed to seasons 2 and 3 of LIS......when the series became "What stupid thing has Dr. Smith done this episode?"

Very good job, very enjoyable finished product! I like it a lot. // It's a bit ironic that the limitations in our 2020 CGI tech make it still very hard to realistically depict people walking. While in 1965, limitations in props and film technology made it very difficult to realistically portray the Robot walking.

I think I know what you're saying. In the 60s series, when the robot was walking with the "Bermuda shorts" I suppose viewers were supposed to imagine that he was traipsing around with his tread section still attached, as opposed to Bob May shuffling around on his feet. As a kid I knew something weird was going on with the walking, rolling, walking, rolling...

The other question I think about even though we know of course the shows storyline... When you think about it how cold is it in space!!! because when you think about it the spaceship could absorb that cold for them to be able to travel as much as they did. so if the temperature was going to be 150 below zero, that would be nothing for the spaceship and even additionally that they could somehow freeze themselves in the Chambers and set a timer to release them after a predetermined amount of time. But I guess that would upset the plot of the show! haha! Great job on the remake! Really wish they would do season 1 in color.
@RobHoffman834 жыл бұрын
I think the plot line in the early part of the first season was that the ship was no longer space worthy after crash landing. At least that's the way the original pilot made it appear.

Maureen cannot re-enter a freezing tube -- she had a life-threatening physical reaction to freezing the first time. The atomic motors cannot be run on the ground -- that's why they use the ascent rockets -- and anyway they're almost out of deutronium fuel.
@rickdj4 жыл бұрын
@@roberthaworth8991 Absolutely Robert! 😃 When one looks at the original pilot of the show, one would think that they probably would have had some type of testing, especially perhaps some type of freezing tube sequence to see how their bodies would react and if there was a negative reaction then that would have stopped them from being able to partake of the space program in the first place. Another thought could be that they would have perhaps maybe some type of pills that they could take or use which would help their bodies adjust to the space flight or perhaps the freezing in the tubes so they could adapt to the long flight. Just some thoughts but then again it probably would not be the show we all knew and loved if there weren't a few hiccups along the way... :-) I believe in the original pilot episode when the ship was the Gemini 12, they said the flight to alpha centauri was going to be 98 years and then when it became the regular show that we all know, the flight on the renamed ship as the Jupiter 2 was shortened to 5 years. So if that's the case even if she was not able to be in the freezing tube, she and the rest of the family still would have been able to survive without being in the freezing tubes.
@roberthaworth89914 жыл бұрын
@@rickdj But: Dr. Zachary Smith, as Base Physician and overseer of the medical qualification program ("You'll do!"), cleared Marueen and the others for freezing. He knew he'd sabotage the ship and its voyage would be a short one, so he really didn't care about potential adverse reactions, and omitted/altered any negative findings in that regard just to get the ship underway to its destruction.

Great job on one of my favorite episodes! Funny story….I was about 5 or 6 during the first run, and I got a LIS play set for Xmas; styrofoam Jupiter 2, and a very realistic looking chariot. I “accidentally” busted the chariot by dropping a large rock on it. I guess I got carried away pretending I was the cyclops!!! I immediately regretted that and was sad!! 😩😩😩😩

I remember Don and Mr. Robinson sweating bullets when they were checking the weather instrument. It was supposed to be freezing cold, but they were overheating in those heavy coats. It's sad that bloop-bloop just disappeared with no explanation. I believe Will was taller than Penny in the pilot because he was older. Boy did that change later! Oh wait ... I checked IMDB and Bill Mumy was younger than Angel Cartwright by about 1.5 years. Did they put Dr. Smith into suspended animation while they were gone? If so, it begs the question, why didn't they all go into suspended animation during the deep freeze? I know the answer of course. They had to go ahead with the road-trip made in the pilot which didn't have Dr. Smith and the Robot.
@3dartistguy4 жыл бұрын
Patrick Coston n the first episode Maureen had trouble waking up when she was revived from the freezing tube and John vowed to her afterward that he’d never put her back in the tube again. Also they did put Smith briefest back in the freezing tube in the third episode but the Robot released him per smiths orders. Don also rode out the crash landing in the freezing tube. I think someone needs to rewatch the series again because a lot of these questions will be answered for you if you did.

@@3dartistguy Were the cryo-tubes in the Jupiter 2 for seasons 2 and 3? I'm pretty sure they only used them in season 1. @@patcoston The freezing tubes weren't used after the first few episodes, but they were still physically present all through the entire series. They just didn't fit the dramatic needs of the show as it had changed. But it's easy enough to say, in storyline, that either the tubes broke in some unrepairable way or ran out of some irreplaceable expendable. // From the outset, in story, Penny was two years older than Will. Kids' growth is halting and unpredictable, and so Angela and Billy had different relative heights at different times. Angela grew a lot just between the first pilot episode and the start of the production season, causing her to be seen at different heights in different scenes of the first episodes that used footage from the pilot filmed 5-7 months earlier.
