This song is so beautiful. I can relate to it so much, especially growing up in a small town.. how quickly the rumors spread & how everyone is just in & out of your life like nothing. But the beautiful part is the little things.. like dancing underneath the ugly halogen lamps with someone you love.. or loved. 💔

This reminds me of a time long ago with my first true love. We were driving up a long country road into the mountains at night, headed for his father's house. We stopped at a closed restaurant where there was a phone booth to call ahead and let family know we were on our way. I remember standing there by my sweetheart as he called, night bugs flying around his head in the glow from the light above the restaurant's front door, hearing the crickets singing all around us in the night. In that moment, I thought, "this is what happiness is, I am really, truly happy and I've never even known what that felt like before." Then he hung up the phone and spontaneously caught hold of me, waltzing me around the restaurant entryway and back out of the light into the soft darkness by the road where the car stood waiting. I'll remember those moments as long as I live, and when I first heard this song, I was immediately reminded.

This song makes me cry almost every single time I hear it.. I really don't even know why. I remember the first time I heard it was on Sirius XMU, I was driving home from work one night. I was all stoked to get home and take a shower so I could sit down and eat dinner and watch the World Series. I forget exactly which game it was, but it was the Cubs Indians series (imo the best WS ever). But I was also at the tail end of the longest relationship I've ever been in.. things were pretty much irreparable at that point. Maybe it's tied into that? I really don't know. It's just a beautiful melancholy feeling. It feels really sweet and warm but the more I allow myself to feel it the more it hurts.
