My Mario Kart stories: When i was in middle school, my grandparents got a switch and an extra set of joycons one summer for me, my brother, and my cousin to play on. We got games like Donkey Kong and Mario Bros, but our main attraction was Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Edition. I mained Todette on the Yoshi Cycle, and my brother mained Toad on the Hyrule Bike (Non-master cycle one). Our cousin never had main because she was like six and creative. I was always player one on a pink joycon, and my brother was player two in red. We always played Toad Harbor because we were, well, toads. He'd pick a map, normally excitebike arena, and then we'd all take turns choosing. But we all played toad harbor. And I'd rage quit if i wasn't first. Yeah, i was a fun kid. Thanks for the anger issues, dad. When i was a freshman in highschool, i graduated from a switch lite to a big girl switch. I brought it to school a lot, and when my birthday rolled around i excitedly told my friends I'd be getting an extra pair of joy cons and Mario Kart. My best friend took interest. She'd never really played video games before, but once i got that game i was off to teaching. When we were sophomores, the dlc came out and i purchased it, and we went crazy with the game. We always played four tracks in order, like our own cup (with blue shells, shocks, and bloopers off bc she hates the last two and i hate the first one bc i like winning): Los Angeles Laps, Sky High Sundae, Toad Harbor, and Wii Rainbow Road. We both like the first two, but i play Toad Harbor for nostalgia and she plays Wii Rainbow Road bc i fall off a lot sometimes. And then she beats me sometimes. (Fr tho i do let her sometimes win bc i like seeing her happy and celebrate when she beats the pro.) Unfortunately, we don't go to the same school anymore, but we still play when possible. And now, one of my freshman buddies has revealed he's only ever played Mk8 once on a Target Nintendo switch. So the cycle restarts and i teach again.
