I voted yes for 2 reasons: I think gay people should be able to get married, and also I'm sick of hearing about it so much.

Good job boys You're the only main stream media outlet that didnt force your opinions on us or try and make you feel like a terrible homophobic person if you don't vote yes. Personally I'm voting no and that's ok, it's also ok to vote yes. Not everyone has the same opinion which is why there's a vote in the first place. Nice vid Wow 10/10
@gummyroid6 жыл бұрын
as long as you voted no then your opinion counts.
@Supertasticisaword6 жыл бұрын
Must feel like such a weird issue to vote on though, right? In NZ our government just did it (not without some right-wing opposition though ofc, just not enough).
@animeroks366 жыл бұрын
hey man, just thought i'd take a second to explain my view point as this does have a bearing on me personally. Marriage is a religious ceremony, meant to symbol two people coming together under God as one. It's only through the passage of time and the fact that Christianity had such a large part in forming society as we know it that marriage has been given such legal authorities, like the right of next of kin. its my firm belief that there should be a civil union alternative to marriage that anyone can have access to, that would give you all the legal rights and benefits of a married couple but avoid any religious affiliation associated with the term . Its the only way i can see a happy outcome to all parties involved, because at the end of the day if I were LGBT i wouldn't want any part of a religion or their practices that doesn't agree with my life choices. but hey what do i know im just some asshole behind a screen...
@christine65126 жыл бұрын
I see where you're coming from, but I'd argue that under the eyes of the law, & for most Aussies, marriage nowadays doesn't bear much religious significance, esp since our govt is secular (complete separation of church and state). Therefore, arguments citing religion aren't particularly relevant in a law-making issue. The modern affiliations & connotations that marriage *does* indeed bear however, are connotations of love, commitment and security, which I believe everyone should be allowed to have :D Even if I'm not gay, nor extremely keen on the idea myself, I have no right to deny the happiness of others! Just my 2 cents xx
@Supertasticisaword6 жыл бұрын
Agreed ^^. I'm super Catholic, but I believe in marriage equality. I find I can see a clear difference between secular marriage under law and Catholic marriage, and I believe in a secular society it is important for people to choose how they marry. Having a Civil Union only falls short, as legally it could be manipulated to not mean the same thing marriage does, and that would be unfair and unequal.

Is the joke he voted yes ?

Actually continuing to be backwards even behind USA is not a good thing. This is a secular country not a muslim one. Sharia LAW SHOULDN"T DICTATE MARRIAGE LAWS!!!!

I think it’s unfair of H and A to have shown their actual vote to the audience when this was not obvious political advertising. By all means encourage the public to vote just don’t push one viewpoint over another when that’s not what you’re being paid to do. It is true if that if they showed a no vote then there would’ve been calls for their summary dismissal.
@embraceit76543 жыл бұрын
They were showing their support in a light-hearted way. This clearly had nothing to do with money and everything to do with human nature. If you weren't burdened with a smooth brain you might have picked up on that. I hope you've grown up in the last year.
@parmesancheese94452 жыл бұрын

@davein20056 жыл бұрын
It's okay to vote no.
@597710066 жыл бұрын
It was never OK to vote no voting no meant you were a homophobic piece of shit the only right to do was to vote yes and luckily that's exactly what 7,817,247 of the 12,727,920 people who took part in the postal survey did they did the right thing and voted yes.
@AS-bg9et4 жыл бұрын
Douglas Roth what a terrible comment from you. The question was not asking you whether you hate gay people and do they deserve to live The question was should the law be changed, as in should a legal definition be changed. Also, it wasn’t a plebiscite instead it was a postal survey. Penny Wong among others said that if we gave the vote to the people in a plebiscite then gay people might kill themselves over the political discourse. Just not true. So we basically gave the power of the people to vote in a plebiscite or referendum to a handful of people in parliament to change laws. Not everyone voted so it’s hardly a true vote. A bad precedent to have set, regardless of your views
