I bought this saw for my small shop. The fact it didn’t take up extra room coming out from the wall is what sold me on it. That and the fact both Izzy Swan, the Wood Whisperer (and now you) all said it’s as good as the kapex. We live on 100 acre homestead. I’ve been using this saw sometimes portably taking it around to different buildings and locations when I need to work. It’s HEAVY! Lol. Now it stays in the shop. I wish the Bosch mobile stand for it wasn’t almost as much as the saw. I see both Delta and Ridgid have copied the folding arm aspect in their saws
@supersproodle2 жыл бұрын
Delta supplies the one for Ridgid so they are essentially the same.
@Msports4102 жыл бұрын
From what I have seen on reviews and videos because it is beautiful and i loved so I was going to get it the delta cruzer(the copied version) has a deflection issue pretty bad one too. When the arms are all the way out the blade will move side to side with the littlest force. I think it's because Bosch was smart made a vertical arm and one horizontal arm so it helps counter act any blade deflection. If you look at the rigid and delta(thanks for clearing it up I thought those two saws looked identical with different name plates) their arms are both pretty close to vertical so I think there is nothing to keep any side to side motion from happening. There's some videos of each saw and it's with one finger the whole blade moves. So when the shop is done I will be going Bosch it's the pioneer of that tech it just plain and simple works plus anything thats as good or better than a Festool when they are $15-1600 works for me!

I do want one of those. I'm currently using an old, non-sliding/gliding, bosch miter saw. It works, but it's harder to avoid tear out on a miter saw that doesn't glide, since you can only attack from one angle. I've just been having to work around that issue. I will upgrade at some point, but that saw is expensive. Lol

I bought this saw Oct 2021, the distance that it goes past the fence is 0. You can't cut rabbets or dado's with it the full length of a board. And You have to really make certain that you hold it down a push all the way towards the fence when cutting a board. The saw just doesn't move past the fence as it should. It's okay as a chop saw but pretty expensive for just that purpose.
@SuzukiKid4002 жыл бұрын
Use a fence spacer
@jaayjones59372 жыл бұрын
@@SuzukiKid400 I feel that advertising an ability that requires the purchaser to make something themselves to make it work is disingenuous. What is the point of having a opening that extends beyond the distance the blade moves? Making a fence or adding a board reduces the width of board you can dado or rabbet. Eventually we plan on making a spacer to that will allow the blade to move the full distance of the slot.

Hows the accuracy or did you ever had to do calibration on the saw
@judithrob15914 жыл бұрын
This test is only if you want to saw with precision with a miter saw. (test is not for rough work). Tips and Test: Very important if you would like to saw with precision. (avoid torsion as much as possible)! Always choose a Miter saw with a handle positioned in a vertical line above the saw blade. Everything must be aligned, slide rails, handle, and saw blade,it is much better this way the blade will not tilt. Because there is some torsion in the aluminum housing . And choose an engine with softstart on it to prevent wear of the gear and worm shaft. It is very important that everything is aligned. Here are some examples to show how the handle must be positioned above the blade. Bosch gcm 800 sj / Bosch gcm 8 sjl / Evolution rage 3 / FESTOOL KS 60 / HITACHI C12RSH2 / FESTOOL KS 60 E KAPEX / Metabo KGSV 72 Xact / Bosch GCM 8 SDE (This also is the case with the Miter saw without the slide rails). If you want you can test it yourself at home if there is torsion in the aluminum housing. Step-1. First you make a clean sharp saw cut from +-5 mm deep in to a nice flat piece of wood about +- 20 mm thick. To this with the normal handle positioned on the right side of the Miter saw. Step-2. Then repeat this by pushing the saw blade down with your hand (finger) on the aluminum protective cover were the saw blade is cased in. Just now only do this without the running engine. Step-3. Now you can see if the saw blade will be positioned in or next to the saw cut. If the saw blade is (+- 0,2 / 0,5 mm) next to the saw cut then there is torsion in the aluminum housing. Step-4. Therefor it is much better to choose a Miter saw with the handle positioned vertical in line above the saw blade. The second option is the handle positioned horizontal in line above the saw blade. Step-5. When you measure the vertical angle square of you're sawblade don't forget that there is always some torsion in the aluminum housing. Conclusion: how further away the handle is from the saw blade how more chance of torsion in the aluminum housing.(don't go for that). P.S. Also with a cheap slide miter saw it is still better the handgriff a above the saw blade than on the right side. Maybe they will make it someday then we have a winner... Greetings from Rob (Amsterdam)...

Too bad it doesn’t have a laser cutting guide or the duel l.e.d. lights that cast a shadow of the blade as a cutting guide. Some of us here are wondering if there is any side flex happening when you pull the arm out fully? We’ve seen other channels showing other saw demonstrations where the blade arm will flex if you don’t pull straight with your arm, leaving a bad out of angle cut.

Why doesn't this saw have a laser for cold setting? Sometimes I'm working with scribed angles and not having a laser to get me "in the ballpark" is very annoying.
@chiphollon27963 жыл бұрын
How long have you owned this particular model ? I was thinking of getting one and adding a led light but another reviewers pics showed that the blade cover had changed and did not look like the photos shown on most sites, in particular the black part at the end of the blade cover just past the handle is now a single piece and I would not be able to make that modification.

How accurate are the 45 degree cuts and 90 degree cuts? Is there even any blade wobble whilst cutting?
@hammerandhome4 жыл бұрын
i find this saw to be very accurate at all cuts. it's my go to saw for finishing. never framing, I haven't seen any wobble.
@vincentwhelan24843 жыл бұрын
When you say "framing" do you consider framing to be to abusive on a saw? I'm undecided on this saw or a Makita Ls1219l having just sold my earlier Bosch model GCM 10 SD which served me well!

question how do you compare this bosch miter saw to dewalt flexvolt 60v miter saw? what your opinion like to know thanks!!
@hammerandhome4 жыл бұрын
so I have never used the dewalt flexvolt saw, but in my opinion the bosch is better for a number of reasons. the Glide, it's by far the smoothest out there. once you try it, its very hard to go back to a slider. next is a big one for me and that's the bevel lock on the front of the bosch, it is so nice to use that it is such a time saver for me. again once you use it you will never go back. having to reach around to the back of a saw to unlock is a pain. especially on the larger saws. I don't mind it on small saws because the reach is minimal, but 12'' saws are a pain. next would be the overall space that these massive saws take up, not having rails to slide on saves a lot of space. so it's great for a trailer or a shop. the bosch also has table extensions on the sides that i use all the time. I think the only reason i would buy the dewalt would be for its cordless feature. if I was to bring another saw into the mix it would be the new Metabo slider. it looks very nice and i would probably put it in 2nd place after the bosch. hope this helps. thanks for watching.

What are your thoughts on a DIY'er getting this saw? I currently am using my first Miter saw (Chicago Elec.) that I purchased when I bought my home. I want to get more into woodworking and just general DIY than I already am, and this saw his been on the top of my list. Is this "overkill" for me?

@hammerandhome4 жыл бұрын
i'm a fan of the Dewalt because you can change out the saw if you want, you can buy separate mounting brackets for it, that allows you to put any saw on it. or you can go with the rolling cart style by bosch, its nice but bulky. all depends on your needs.

Do you find that the forward travel is a little short? I think another 1/4" would be a better cut as the blade exits the board. Is there any adjustment to get it farther past the fence?

Good vid...is there any play or "compromise" to accuracy when the mechanism is fully extended? In other words, is it possible to wind up with a less than accurate or straight cut due to slack when those "arms" are fully extended.
@hammerandhome2 жыл бұрын
i find that this saw is incredibly accurate. i never have any issues unless i'm doing a compound cut and i push a bit to hard, that's when you start to see some deflection in the saw blade not in the actual arm. I would almost prefer a 10'', but they didn't have them when i bought this saw.

a lot of saws don't come with lasers anymore, it's unfortunate. you can buy the laser that mounts onto the blade, I don't like it because it only goes on when the blade is spinning. The vac and hose is Festool kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZ-8iHqchd5sgs0 the link is below the video

I'm with this guy. Terrible saw imho. The biggest issue is not having that bevel pin positive lock at 0*. Theres been countless times I've cut door casing and it's all beveled 1-2*. It pissed ya right off. Also, as a saw for trim carpentry, junk. The mechanics of the bevel changing is terrible. Lever for left, then the knob for right and have to push the saw......not a fan. Also, having to mark the front of your piece instead of the back is frustrating. Because the blade doesnt go past the fence. As a general framing saw, it's great. Set it up in a new con against a wall. Go to town.
