I was at a CD shop in Plano, Texas in 1997, when the owner of the shop had 'Glory to The Brave' playing. I saw the CD cover and said "Now this is heavy metal!' The store copy was the only one they had, and I wanted to buy it. So when I left the CD shop I was in the parking lot, and the owner came out with the store copy and sold it to me. Heavy/Power/Traditional Heavy Metal was underground, if not dead, at that time in the US. But along with HammerFall's debut album, Rhapsody also release their debut album in 1997. All of a sudden, there was a spark, there was hope, there was the return of heavy metal, in a dark time for true heavy metal - the beleaguered 1990s. I think many people who were 1980s metalheads in the USA, were not aware of what was happening over in Europe at that time. I really didn't know either until 1997. I soon noticed how this renaissance of heavy/power metal soon grew and grew, and eventually became quite big by the early 2000s - but not in the USA. It's good to see HammerFall has continued all these years playing what us '80s headbangers love. I am reminded that the NWOBHM bands back in 1979-1981 had to climb a mountain to survive - and they did; so too did the European power metal bands of the late '90s - they too had to climb a mountain to survive. It was a long shot, but it paid off. Heavy Metal was ultimately victorious in both musical eras.

Yes, HammerFall Kept the Flame Burning all along😃 But if you're not familiar with it, you should also check the J-Metal scene. Heavy Metal seems to have its secondary residence there now, particularly with all female bands. I recommend LOVEBITES to you (and to others who will read this), an all-female metal band singing in English and playing Power/Thrash/traditional Heavy Metal (NWOBHM inspired). They were the first Japanese band to play at Wacken Open Air (in 2018). Check them, you won't regret it

I did not know Hammerfall released their debut album at the same time as Rhapsody. What a wonderful year it must have been then! I was a kid back then, but every time I listen to old Rhapsody I truly wish I would have been born before the 90s so that I would have been able to go to Rhapsody's concerts

My first time hearing hammerfall was back in the late 90s when some kid had legacy of kings playing. So I went to my local store and found out there was also glory to the brave. Never missed a release from that day on. No internet. Only mouth to mouth propaganda. Glad they are still killing it with every new song

I went to see Hammerfall & Helloween play @ the Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas this past weekend - what an awesome show! Very good live band! I met the band after the show and these guys are really cool rockers! I bought them a beer & got a cool pic with the band. I would definitely see this band live again - Hammerfall is an awesome band! I hope they come back to play in America more often so I can see them again.

After the 2 first new videos for Hammer of Dawn album, I was like ''am I crazy or these 2 new songs are Hammerfall's best in career? This album might be their greatest.''
