how much do you think it weighed? I only ask because I am trying to decide if I need 80 lb braid or can for the most part get away with 65 lb. Would like to have as much line spooled as possible but do not want to sacrifice strength in case a big shark like the one in your video comes my way! Thanks!

@pbfishing51537 жыл бұрын
+LRS yeah it definitely would. Just don't drop the bait more than 200 yards and you'll be fine. If you start getting low on the initial run then tighten the drag.

How much 80 mono top shot do you use? I’m concerned about when I buy my Spinning setup that the mono won’t stick to the spool and roll off
@MrDjones554 жыл бұрын
Just do a few wraps of electrical tape and pack the mainline as tight as possible while spooling up.
@Gio-nl7eg4 жыл бұрын
MrDjones55 topshot is towards the leader right? Because I’m not talking about backing
@MrDjones554 жыл бұрын
@@Gio-nl7eg Do you mean like the line memory of the top shot will cause it to fall off the spool? I personally use 8-10 feet of 100lb mono and 12" of 360lb single strand so for the most part the mono isn't getting past 4 guides on the rod and the FG knot sails out pretty smoothly when casting.
@Gio-nl7eg4 жыл бұрын
MrDjones55 yeah that’s exactly what I’m talking about. Okay so you basically do braid to mono to wire? Because some people say to do braid to mono to heavier mono to wire..
@MrDjones554 жыл бұрын
@@Gio-nl7eg that's right. Braid to mono leader with FG knot and mono to wire with a heavy barrel swivel. While surf fishing with half a mullet and 6 Oz sinker, I've tried doing braid to mono to heavy mono to wire and the 40lb shock leader I used casted terribly.

When you have the bait sitting out on the Penn spin fisher, do you have the drag all the way loose or sort of tight?
@pbfishing51537 жыл бұрын
Loose. You don’t want the shark to feel anything when it picks up the bait.

Nice vid, thanks !Quick question,I'm right at the point of buying a spinning reel for Blacktips/Spinners. If you had to recommend one reel, which would it be, up to say $250? I usually cast conventional but want to start using spinning gear also. I have plenty of rods to match 6000 to 8000 series reels.Thanks !!
@pbfishing51537 жыл бұрын
+fish7days Id go with the Penn Spinfisher 8500. It's completely sealed, has smooth drag, and holds a lot of line. Another option would be the Daiwa Saltist but it's a bit more expensive.

mate i caught a 100kg bully solo from rocky headland here in australia 3 weeks ago slammer 8500 12 ft 80lb prevail.. the rod is an absolute beast , i run an 80lb spin 12ft and 10 ft 24kg prevail, both rod can cast a human leg out if your technique is correct ….

i cast 8 oz grapnels and 500gram to 1kg baits … it can do it , if you just cadt and 8 oz grapnel and 10 cm mullet youl cast 100 meters easily with 65lb braid
