I never understood why people seem to be bother by some machine marks on a barrel or the internal parts of a gun I also don’t understand why anyone would carry with nothing in the chamber the Cz has a safe so you can carry it just as you would a 1911 cocked & locked with one in the chamber

I own this gun and love it. I just put my thumb between the hammer and firing pin to lower the hammer into double action. It's 100% safe. Your thumb is literally blocking the firing pin... that's how revolver shooters did it for years. I don't understand why this has become a lost skill even with older shooters. No one should be in fear of lowering their hammer. It's not a dangerous operation. Worst thing that will ever happen is a pinched thumb.

I have this and the full size if you read the manual it actually has three firing pin safeties and when you lower the hammer all you have to do is release the trigger and it stop at the half cocked position which is the same position it would be in if you had the decocker version . I always lower it down all the way and you just release trigger and lower it down it will not go off unless you keep the trigger depressed

I own the SP-01 safety model. I would put my support hand thumb between the hammer and the firing pin, pull the trigger to allow the hammer the move forward, then remove the trigger finger. I then lower the hammer slowly with my thumb on the shooting hand. Because my finger is away from the trigger, the firing pin is lock and cannot ignite the primer.

I have always loved my CZ 75B full size pistol, it is an exceptional pistol. I recently sold my M&P Compact which had been my daily conceal carry pistol. Since then I have switched to my most recent find, a CZ 75D PCR for my daily conceal carry. It shoots awesome, maybe not quite as good as its big brother CZ 75B but still very accurate and about 1/4 pound lighter than the standard compact as the PCR model has a forged aluminum frame.

When comparing it to the M&P Compact model, the first thing I noticed was how much better it feels in my hand. It is much more solid, and the trigger is better in every way. If you're experienced shooting revolvers, then the dbl action first shot followed by single action from there is an easy transition.

The discrepancy between the stated capacity of 14 vs your mag's 15 is because that is actually a slightly-extended magazine. The flush-fit magazines with only a thin, flat, steel baseplate - like I got when I bought mine new - are 14, and are not marked for 40 S&W. The one you have there is probably one they ship with a few different models of their guns and so they've marked it for both calibers.

Those are actually mec gar magazines, thats how my compact came out of the box. Factory magazines have flat steel bottoms and are 14+1.

I've been carrying the CZ 75 Compact for about a year now. The pistol fits my hand like nothing else I've ever held - and this includes more than just handguns. The recoil is extremely manageable, even in a small-framed 9mm due to its steel frame, as if the whole firearm is just a miniature AR15 that fits in your hand. While there are lighter versions of the CZ 75 platform out there, the regular "Compact" model is not too heavy to carry. Paired with some nice Marshal grips (which took about 6 months to arrive), the CZ 75 is an absolute beauty - both from an aesthetic and a "shootability" standpoint. It is one of the best purchasing decisions I have made in my entire life. P.S. I carry it with the hammer at half-cock and cock the hammer as a part of my draw (mostly due to the retention strap on my holster preventing me from carrying "cocked and locked"). My philosophy on double action triggers on a semi-auto is that they are an "emergency option" for shooting one-handed; otherwise, I always cock the hammer and then utilize the safety if I do not need to shoot. Lowering the hammer to half-cock is not difficult to do safely; just keep the handgun pointed in a safe direction, block the hammer travel with your finger, then let go of the trigger once the hammer starts to move.

Really Good Video. I have the 'cheap' version of it. It is a Tristar C-100 in .40 S&W (Canik -made @ a NATO approved factory in Turkey as a CZ-75 Clone) but it is identical to the CZ-75 Compact to point where most parts would probably could be swapped. In fact, the magazine you were showing is identical to mine and every single pin seems to be identical and at the exact same position. I know for sure Grips and sights are compatible and the DA/SA trigger works exactly the same.. Got it for $280 because the previous owner complained that racking the slide was difficult to do (had less than 50 rounds through it). Machining is very clean (better than the CZ-75 Compact). I put around 800 rounds and had zero malfunctions even with very cheap ammo. I though about replacing the recoil spring with something softer but then I learned this heavy recoil spring helps with taming the recoil and also with reliability. Decided to keep it. The weight makes it very easy to tame the .40 S&W (it feels more like a 9mm). I'm not a big person but surprisingly, carrying it concealed IWB is very easy to do.

This was my first CZ. Great shooter but I prefer decockers. I then purchased a CZ 75 Compact PCR, which is my favorite CZ. Lighter and has a decocker. There is nothing wrong with the original compact in general, but I prefer the PCR. I ended up trading in my 75 compact and two other firearms to get a CZ SP01 Phantom, which is awesome as well. To be honest, the 75 series hands down has the best feeling grip bar none.

@@hugostiglitz9864 I’ve never had any issues so far. BTW, I’ve also added a CZ RAMI sub compact to the mix. To be honest, the only problem I encountered was a failure to eject on a 1911, which turn out to be a bad extractor. An easy fix and problems since.

Both my Beretta 92's came new from the factory shooting left. I couldn't figure it out, until I seen barrels on both guns are tilted slightly to the left. If you look at the guns from the top view you can see there is more room on the right side of the slide, and the barrels show more wear to one side. I looked this up and apparently it's a common problem with the 92 platform, but many claim it doesn't affect performance. I'm going to sell mine and go back to CZ's.

I tried this one and the aluminum-framed PCR, and ended up with the latter because 1) it's lighter (by a barely-noticeable 4.5 oz); 2) it's got better ergonomics (rubber grips OOB, serrated front and backstraps, serrated trigger); and 3) it's got that decocker so I can carry it with the hammer at the first notch. For being a compact version, this gun is much more accurate than I am. I shoot pretty well with a full-sized G17, but this little guy makes me look really good!

An alternative to the this gun is Tristar's C100, an imported Turkish clone. I have all three models of the C100, (380, 9mm and 40S&W). The 380 and 40's are no longer imported. It took a few years before a new 40S&W showed up and when it did, I jumped on it. These C100's are superbly accurate. The C100 with the alloy frame and 15+1 capacity is in my carry rotation and is one sweet shooting 9mm. The 40S&W is an all steel frame and is somewhat heavy but the slide mates with the 9mm alloy frame and that combination converts it into a slick and very powerful 40S&W EDC. As stated in the video, the magazine is the same for both calibers.

I have to say I am really enjoying purchasing steel models again. I have so many wonder plastics that I am bored with them. My problem is I seem to pretty much be picking up a few 9mm's . I have this CZ , I purchased an actual Browning Hi Power. I already have an HK P7 that I have had for years. And I last year purchased a S&W 5906. I really need to find some new calibers. But I have so many covered. Right up to my highly abusive 4 inch S&W .500 magnum . I am after a .460 S&W magnum though. When I get that I am selling my 454 I have had for years. Anyway back to CZ's I really really like the CZ pistols mainly the 75's and have owned several over the years. Way back when everyone was hitting the Oregon trail with our covered wagons ( according to the younger whipper snappers who consider me that old )had a race gun built off of a CZ frame. These are really nice if you like the weight. And the rails being within the frame the tolerances are just awesome.

I just bought a CZ-75 Compact (June 2020). On the up side: 1) The gun is well made. Very good quality and workmanship. I haven't fired it yet but have no doubt it should be accurate. 2) High capacity of 15 round magazines. Two are included. 3) Low recoil due to it being very heavy (see #2 below). 4) Although it doesn't have night sights per se, it has fluorescent dots on the sights which glow dimly. They can actually be seen in a dark environment with night adjusted eyes. On the down side: 1) The gun is bulky and anything but compact. 2) With the steel frame, it is very heavy. 3) Grip is very large. I don't have a problem but someone with smaller hands would find it difficult. 3) This version is SA/DA without a decocker. DA trigger pull is very hard. I will measure the exact amount of force (in lbs) at some point but it's a lot. I am no wimp but I find I must use both index fingers to pull the trigger in SA mode. The best way to carry it would be in SA mode keeping it cocked and locked. BTW: He's right. They have sooooo many versions that it's hard to know what you are buying.

The safest way to decock I've found is not to pinch with the left hand, because it's very easy for it to slip. You should use your right thumb and wrap it completely over the top of the hammer then pull the trigger. Once the hammer gives just a little bit, remove your finger from the trigger, as this re-engages the firing pin block. Once your finger is off the trigger, you can safely lower the hammer, because the FP is blocked unless the trigger is fully depressed. Although technically you could let the hammer go after your finger is off the trigger, you should still slowly lower the hammer because letting it slam into half-cock might not be the best thing for your hammer over thousands of repetitions. This is true of standard CZ-75s and Beretta 80- and 90- series handguns. I am not sure how the firing pin block works on other handguns and will not speak on them.

I just bought the SP-01, a GREAT all steel gun as is the 75 &75 compact. Hand position on striker guns is almost always higher with a lower bore axis but not much difference here.. The 75c may be my next CZ.

If your model has a firing pin block, a safer way to lower the hammer is by jamming your thumb between the hammer and the firing pin, then pulling the trigger to drop the hammer onto your thumb, then releasing the trigger, and then rolling your thumb out, allowing the hammer to rest on the firing pin block

I bought this gun about 2-3 months ago and it has an outstanding finish and fit. Besides two wheel guns I own, this is the only all metal semi-auto handgun I own and quite frankly, I consider it "heirloom" quality - something to hand down to your children. Just a very beautiful firearm. As Hammer Striker indicated, this gun shoots straight and is a very soft shooter. The low bore axis due to the slide riding inside the frame, coupled with the weight of this gun, makes this gun a tack driver. Only my Beretta PX4 Storm approaches its accuracy. If I had a complaint, it's in regard to racking the slide, i.e., it is very difficult to get a grip on the slide due to the small "real estate" serrations. Regarding the review, excellent job . . . The reviewer is articulate and went over everything you need to know in detail. I actually, had to pull this gun out of my safe to check the sights when he mentioned his were off a bit (but mine were fine). I do have a question - I am thinking about buying the CZ 75 P-01 . . . Is this redundant? I already know that it is lighter due to being made of an aluminum alloy. What differentiates this gun with the Compact? Again, thank you for this review!

The difference in round count and the .40/9mm sides is, you mag is not a CZ mag. It's a Mecgar aftermarket sight. Hence the Mecgar blue follower. It has a special spring and floorplate to add one extra round yet keep it flush fitting.

@@HammerStriker I understand that CZ makes their own mags for the basic 75 models. I've only found unmarked steel floorplate mags mentioned by CZ. Blue followers is a trait on some new upper end CZ mags and all Mec-Gar aftermarkets. I find it interesting that you feel the slide rail edges are rough and tool mark abound. I first thoughts on getting mine were, wow this reminds me of my West German Sig's. It has a air of old world craftsmanship. Sort of Teutonic especially on the inside.

the internal firing pin block cannot be over ridden. it is in actuality just what its component name says it is........ a 'block' which disallows the firing pins movement fully forward that would otherwise enable it to strike the primer. Only if that firing pin block is missing or somehow broken into parts can an AD occur. So carry with hammer down or half cocked... either way the firing pin block will do its job.

The thing is that the majority of the 75 series have a hammer block, it's perfectly safe to drop the hammer slowly on a live round provided you ease the hammer slowly and not in the manner you portrayed. If you pinch the hammer as you showed in the video, there is a chance that it will slip and you might n.d., it's better to place your thumb slightly ahead of the hammer and pushing down on it as well. This can be done with one hand as opposed to two. As one gentleman already pointed out, this is how it was done with revolvers. The standard model is also better than the omega because all of the aftermarket is generally geared for it. I'm currently using Cajun Gun Works parts in my CZ75B and it has helped the gun a ton in the trigger and durability department.

A CZ-75 has been on my list, I'm just waiting to happen on one at a decent price to buy. In the meantime, I've had an EAA Tanfoglio Witness for about 6 years. Honestly, it's a great cz clone that I've been perfectly happy with. It takes CZ-75 mags, as well my KelTec sub 2000 g2 which takes the cz mags. Like I said, if I happen upon one at the right time/price, I'll buy the it then. Doesn't everyone want a real CZ?

Just ordered one online and looking forward to shooting it. I intend to keep mine in the same condition as my 1911, cocked and locked. The most likely firearm to be used in an emergency is the Springfield XD 45, grip safety (no manual one) and a light on the rail.

I love mine. One in the chamber, hammer down. Not a scary deal to lower the hammer, just be aware of what you are doing. Good review. It is a little heavy/large for CC, but it is certainly do-able. I carry my RAMI for the most part.

Great pistol but the 75d PCR is the way to go if you want to edc! Only difference is the decocker and alloy frame.

There is indeed a decocker version CZ Rami BD. Some reviews have demonstrated it. One commentator thought the trigger was better in the safety version vs the decocker lever.

You are correct that the RAMI Decocker does exist. However that is a "SubCompact" (Glock 26 ish) where as this one is a Compact (Gock 19 ish). I am not aware of a Decocker Version of the "Compact".

Hi ! Very good review. I like Your channel. About safety way to lower the hammer with no decocker... There is the safe way. Hold the gun with your right hand on tne grip, regular way. Before pulling the trigger to lower the hammer, put your left thumb with the entire pulm on top of the slide, when your left thumb pointing to the rear on the gun, near the rear end of the slide. Insert your first joint of the left thumb between the hammer and the back of the slide. Now pull the trigger , simultaneously holding the hummer with your right thumb. Even if your right thumb slips and the hummer is free to fall down, the left thumb prevent it from the touching the firing pin. I use this method for more than 20 years, and I prefer hammer pistols on striker ones.

Thank you. The steps you detail are great steps to follow if you want to carry this hammer-down. One more to add, make sure that as soon as the sear breaks and you can move the hammer that you release the trigger. This ensures that any internal drop safeties are re-engaged before the hammer puts pressure on the firing pin. This is the part that can go wrong and not be noticed as the pressure of the hammer can push the pin forward enough to prevent the safety from re-engaging and leave you exposed to a drop-fire.

Why have a thumb safety then? I know it is advertised has a SA/DA but isn't that a solution to a nonexistent problem? Loading the magazine, insert the mag, rack the slide, bypass the thumb safety, hold the hammer while simultaneously pulling the trigger while a live round is in the chamber, just to have a DA pull for the first shot. The handgun has a safety for a reason, I'd use it if it were me. These are just my opinions. I'm not a professional by any means. What you decide to do with firearms is your responsibility.

Allow me to educate you on how the hammer positions are intended to be used (as a proud owner of a Shadow 2). Never EVER attempt to lower the hammer by either pinching the hammer between your index and thumb, or by thumbing the hammer down slowly. Each one has the potential for slippage. When ready to fire: 1) Use the thumb roll technique by putting your left thumb between the hammer and slide (the right edge of your left thumb should be facing you). 2) Press the trigger and immediately RELEASE it. 3) Roll your thumb towards the muzzle (counterclockwise) to bring the hammer to half cock. After you finish shooting, on an empty chamber: 1) Use the same thumb roll technique. 2) Press and HOLD the trigger back. 3) Roll the hammer all the way down. Handling your CZ75 this way makes a ND virtually impossible.

When I was looking at one, some pussies at the gun shop we’re boo hooing it and saying it was way heavier than their carry glocks. There was a girl in the shop that actually called these guys pussies. Told one of them she could conceal carry him without noticing the difference. Lol. I asked the gun shop merchant and his answer was simple...any 9mm, .40, .45 is going to be as effective as the ammo and the operator.

This gun is super safe to carry with one in the chamber in either DA or SA. SA with safety on is certainly as safe as carrying a 1911 in same manner. Never had an issue manually decocking any gun.

This gun is absolutely safe to carry with a loaded chamber, what was pointed out is that it is not safe to carry with a loaded chamber in the hammer-down configuration. This version is set up like a 1911 to be "cocked and locked" and there is not a safe way to decock it. So, if you carry it as intended, load it up and carry on.

These guns have a firing pin block. At least according to the owner’s manual. It is not set up like a 1911. You can carry with the hammer all the way down, as the trigger has to be pulled in order to release the firing pin. You can see the block in the slide when it’s off the frame.

Yes they do have a firing pin block that you have to disengage by pulling the trigger - which is exactly what presents a problem: To get the hammer down on this gun, because it has no Decocker, you have to pull the trigger. You would do this by holding the hammer and lowering it slowly after pulling the trigger. You should release the trigger the instant the hammer starts to move but that can be difficult to co-ordinate while holding the gun. While the trigger is pulled. the drop safety is disabled (allowing the firing pin to travel). As you gently set the hammer down on the firing pin, if it pushes it forward slightly and the trigger is still pulled it will block the firing pin safety from re-engaging (the firing pin is forward and the firing pin block notch is now out of alignment) and the weight of the hammer spring will prevent it from retracting. You are now hammer down on a firing pin that is/can touch the primer and are unsafe because the firing pin block was unable to re-engage. The end result is that any gun without a decocker or other mechanism to lower the hammer while leaving all other safeties active, should not be carried hammer down as it is too easy to leave it in a state where the safeties have been disabled.

I'm asking this because I can't figure out from your demonstration whether it is possible to manually decock the pistol with the safety engaged. That would be SO cool! Can it be decocked as such? FYI: The magazines do show 9mm on one side and 40 S&W on the other because the gun was marketed by Tristar as the model C100 in 9mm, 40 S&W and 380. (The 380 magazine is the 9mm with a spacer so the 380 rounds fit snuggly otherwise they would have a gap between the tip of the bullet and the magazine front wall.) Tristar no longer shows the 380 nor the 40 S&W on their web site. I have all three calibers with C100 on the slide. The 40 S&W is actually a clone of the PCR-01 where the 380 and 9mm models are clones of the CZ75 Compact. Regardless of caliber or which gun it clones, these are terrific pieces. My 9mm and 40 S&W are carry pieces where the 380 is a range gun.

For anyone like me who was frustrated that they don't make the flush-fit, 14-round magazines anymore, the extended RAMI magazines will work if you swap out the plastic baseplate for a metallic one.
