I was also comfortable with the price. I'm not an experienced shooter, but got a nice grouping with the H&K. Didn't do as great with the PPQ, but it wasn't too bad. I lost interest in the Glock. I think I'll eventually get an H&K. For the wife, I'd get a CCP.

Hammer Striker hi , I'm an amateur so please excuse the question if it doesn't make sense. With regards to the walther, if you want the option to use the suppressor, you have to buy the navy / threaded version correct? It cannot be attached to the regular. 2. What about accessories for the Walther, like sights etc? Are they more expensive than those for the glock and selection? 3. Are longer barrel handguns more accurate for sport/ target shooting? I don't know if Walther makes one of these that are slightly longer. Thanks!

I currently have a Glock 19 Gen 3 and have recently become acquainted with the Walther PPQ, at least in some gun shops. I have had the Glock for several years and have had zero problems with it. However, it just is not the most comfortable gun to hold, at least for me. Once I held a PPQ, I have become tempted to either buy one in addition to my Glock or trade the Glock in for one. I have been watching a number of Glock vs. PPQ videos and have found this one to be exceptionally informative, covering many comparison viewpoints, some I had not considered. Many other videos show the creator shooting one magazine after another. I don't find that as meaningful as comparing the specs as you have done. The ability of the gun to perform well is often going to be different for various owners, so that perspective is a little less valuable. Bottom line, great job on this production.

I own a Walther PP (not ppk) in 7.65. It has never rejected a round, or jammed in it’s use. We have literally never had anything go wrong. Usually a gun will occasionally not go into battery, or be picky with ammo, or not function due to maintenance. But ours with occasional lubing has seen non of this. For this reason, I’m slightly biased in buying a pistol. Walther has never let me down, and for this reason I am going to purchase a PPQ M2. I wanted to get a Glock, but I would rather get a less mainstream 9mm that makes me confident due to my experience with the brand.

1/10th inch reset. I love my PPQ trigger. It does benefit from a polish job on the slide safety plunger and bore, and the trigger bar to frame nub just like the Glock. After that the PPQ literally feels like a competition trigger. There are also sources for lighter trigger springs that can drop the pull weight to 2.5-3 lbs, for the brave. My understanding is that since the PPQ is a true single action trigger, so no amount of tinkering will make a Glock trigger as nice. Hope they introduce a compact model at Shot 17 Worth mentioning that the PPQ m1 accommodates P99 sights and magazines without modification (there are aftermarket 30 round mags available for the P99 also).
@HammerStriker8 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's a fully cocked striker unlike most (including Glock) that are partially cocked. Which, as you point out, makes it equivalent to a single-action trigger. There are many great striker guns out there that can come close (VP9) but nothing can touch that PPQ trigger.

I found an interesting article about modding the PPQ trigger creep: lanzerbot.wordpress.com/2016/06/20/ppq-adjustable-creep-conversion-guide/
@HammerStriker8 жыл бұрын
Interesting article, but I would be very careful doing that to one that was going to be used for anything other than range or competition. Getting past the obvious warranty voiding stuff that you simply accept when you mod your gun. The procedure of tightening it until it doesn't work then backing off does not take into account thermal expansion and dirt. So it may work great on the bench or for a few rounds then start to result in "dead-trigger". Also be very careful when drilling and tapping the hole as you can easily get it canted or create stress fractures in the part which would result in failure during use.
@stopthephilosophicalzombie90178 жыл бұрын
Hammer Striker That's an essential caveat you are right, and that guy has at least two PPQs. I just bought a PPQ Navy, but have to wait three bloody days (stupid waiting period) as I live in Florida😡. I have a question, as you were showing the Walther trigger, what is the small round hole at the top of the trigger?? Is it to adjust the trigger, or is it for the pivot for the trigger safety? Thanks!! Can’t wait to pick it up Thursday!!
@HammerStriker4 жыл бұрын
It is the pivot point for the safety as well as the attachment point for the trigger bar. I hope you enjoy it when you get it tomorrow.
@davidjenkins66344 жыл бұрын
THANKS for clearing that up! BTW, to FURTHER add to your point about Walther’s not REALLY known about. I was baffled why the PPQ I bought came with two 17 round mags, and one 15 round mag(a third mag) And it had a fiber optic sight. What is this? Did they add a mag, and change the front sight?? Then I learned I had ACTUALLY bought a PPQ Navy Q4 TAC, for $620.00 BRAND NEW!!!, I’m seeing them sell for $700.00+! I don’t think they knew what they were selling!! I’m SO HAPPY!!! Think the threaded barrel is so cool! The gun is so cool!! Can I use that LocTite that doesn’t lock permanently, but can be unlocked(?) on the thread protector from it getting loose? Or, just keep an eye on it? I’m so stoked to get this gun today!!!
@HammerStriker4 жыл бұрын
Excellent score! Unfortunately you will just have to monitor the thread protector as it gets too hot up there for normal thread locker. The types that can handle the heat are permanent. Remember to only reach for it when the gun is empty and locked back for safety, and it may be hot.

Great video, which one you recommend for conceal carry, the G19 or the PPQ. I heard that the trigger on the PPQ is to light to conceal. What do you think? Thanks 👍🏻👍🏻
@HammerStriker7 жыл бұрын
There is often concern on the trigger but my thought on that is you should not have your finger on the trigger until you are actually ready to fire. So the first thing to do would be spending time practicing the draw and trigger finger control to ensure you come out of the holster with your finger off the trigger. The nicer trigger in that case will assist with improved accuracy (you are less likely to pull the gun left) so if you actually do fire you would be more likely to hit the intended target. Due to the far greater options for holsters, lights and other carry accessories, you will have an easier time finding a carry method that suits you with the G19, your options are more limited for the PPQ. I think the PPQ is an excellent gun, possibly a bit better overall than the G19. That said, I would carry the G19 for its flexibility and compatibility.
@timmlong10386 жыл бұрын
Hammer Striker I carry my PPQ M2 9mm. The best 9mm on the market in my opinion. Accuracy is spot on. I had a custom made shoulder holster for concealed carry, and fits like a glove. While carried it's in vertical when pulled, it rotates (keeping finger off the trigger) I've never had any printing issues. A good carry option, if one can get use to it.

Is the Walther easy to rack and Will it Hurt a recoil sensitive Person with weak hands.How Much recoil does it have compared to Glock 42,19&17?Thanx very Much for your reply
@HammerStriker7 жыл бұрын
The PPQ is fairly easy to rack, similar to the G19. Recoil profile is almost the same as the G19 or 17, less that the G42. In 9mm it is very manageable and can be shot by almost anybody. The G42 actually has stronger recoil despite being a less powerful cartridge because the gun is small and light. If possible, find a buddy or a range that does rentals and try out either a G19 or a PPQ. If either is comfortable then the other would be as well. If you are very recoil averse and/or have problems racking most slides, check out the Walther CCP (we have a video on it). It is not as nice as the PPQ or the G19 but it is specifically designed for those who have difficulty racking slides or with recoil.

The thing I would highlight about the two guns is the triggers. Both guns are really fantastic options in terms of quality, but in terms of a "carry" gun, the PPQ is a little light on the trigger. In fact, it is noted that the German police refuse to issue this pistol b/c the trigger is too light for a duty pistol. I've gone through a lot of different guns having shot, owned and carried several ranging from the Glock 19 to the Walther PPQ, and while I do really like the PPQ, I won't carry it for the reasons mentioned above...the trigger. It's too light for a defensive carry gun IMO. I have come full circle to rest on the Glock 19 as my go to gun for just about every occasion, supported with the M&P Shield 9mm. What makes the Glock 19 such a perfect EDC/GP pistol is the size/capacity ration, cost, and aftermarket support. With a couple Glock 17 magazines in reserve, the Glock 19 is more than enough to satisfy the need for personal defense whether it be for the street or the home. I certainly don't begrudge anyone who chooses the PPQ over the Glock, b/c it is a fantastically made pistol, but...in terms of what a pistol is designed to do, it is my opinion that the Glock 19, in particular, is the quintessential pistol. There is a reason the entire SOF community uses the Glock 19 now, save maybe one elite group, so when you are looking for a pistol to fit all your needs, one really need look no further than the venerable Glock 19. It's the most popular pistol for a reason.

The PPQ has a great trigger. In fact, it may be a tad too lite for a beginner shooter. I have accidentally double tapped mine on occasion and I shoot quite a bit. As an alternative, I would reccommend an HK VP-9.....just as good, maybe a half pound or so heavier which makes it perfect in my book. And there is a lighter stock striker fire trigger out there that even beats the PPQ.....what is it? The Steyr S9 A-1......not the most popular pistol, but THE BEST trigger in the game! Try one out...

@@fernie2583 I think we are on the same page. I think PPQs look beautiful but for me, nothing looks more stylish than Glocks. It looks like a proper weapon that means business and is scarily efficient.

I bought the ppq when my glock 19 was stolen mainly because of the trigger and that I wouldn't have to spend money upgrading the trigger. Unfortunately I don't shoot it well bought m&p 2.0 which I shot better as well as a gen 5 glock 19. I've never really warmed up to the ppq maybe because it reminds me of a highpoint.

You make good videos , well spoken no clowning around and straight to the point . I like the trigger on the PPQ but really hate the way it looks. It looks like some kid made it with clay. What other polymer handguns would you say the trigger will come close?..
@HammerStriker7 жыл бұрын
+Evil Mike Thank you. You may want to check out the H&K VP9 or FNS 9c. Nothing is as good as the PPQ trigger but those two are probably the closest. The CZ P-10c is good but not as good as the hype surrounding it implies.

Hammer Striker Thank you for the reply. I like both the VP9 and the FNS9 with the 4 inch barrel . Those are my two favorite. Ok last question if you had to pick one Sig P320 VP9 FNS9 . Hey can't give you a compliment without some work. Thanks again bro.

Why is the ppq not more popular?
@HammerStriker8 жыл бұрын
The only thing that I can think of is marketing and visibility, everybody knows what a Glock is but a lot of people seem to be unaware of this excellent gun. Everybody has fired our PPQ has loved it and many simply didn't even know it existed.
@BioStock088 жыл бұрын
Hammer Striker, Why is this not everyone's EDC? I am skimming on how I can afford a ppq. I shot one with some Trijicon organ sights on it. It made me a better shooter, maybe a better person.

Advertising. The PPQ is a great pistol, but most will never know that.
@blackaero20108 жыл бұрын
I think for awhile Smith and Wesson was importing the PPQ and all Walther's for that matter . S&W also made the PPK. Not gonna spend a lot of effort promoting a competitor to the M&P. Now Walther has their own distributor stateside with much better marketing. I own a PPQ classic.
@HammerStriker8 жыл бұрын
+Chris Grove You are correct that S&W was the importer, some of the early ones actually had S&W stamped on them. Walter USA is now totally independent.

Does the Walther M2 gives less recoil in the hands and less muzzle flip? Is it a better option for someone with Small hands who want a less stiff magazine spring than Glock? Thanx very Much for your reply
@HammerStriker7 жыл бұрын
Felt recoil and flip is roughly the same for both the PPQ 9mm and the Glock 19. The PPQ grip is more sculpted and contoured than the Glock which is more straight. In this case, due to the relatively light recoil of 9mm and the similarity between the two, it will really come down to how the grip actually feels in your hand. Both have replaceable backstraps to customize the grip. You would likely want the Small on the PPQ and none-installed on the Glock Gen4/5 guns (factory default). The best thing to do is visit a local gun store and handle them to see how they feel and how you can reach/operate the mag release. The PPQ in both 9mm and .40 are identical grips and I am pretty sure the .45 is close (if not actually identical), so handling any one of them will likely give you the answer on the PPQ. The Glock Gen 4 19, 23 are identical grips. You may also want to handle a Glock 19 Gen 5, it removes the finger grooves. Whichever one you pick (PPQ 9mm, G19 Gen 4 or 5) will have roughly the same felt recoil and flip, but one of them will feel perfect in your hand and that will be the one to take home.

I have a P99as that I have not shot yet. I"m sure the PPQ has a better trigger but how do they compare in all the other ways, ergonomics, ect.? A truly great review.
@HammerStriker8 жыл бұрын
+grady jr Thank you. Unfortunately I have not held a P99 but given that the PPQ pretty much evolved from it I would hope it's at least as good. On the PPQ itself, I can say that the ergonomics are excellent, fits very well in the hand. It is comfortable and the controls are situated perfectly. The replaceable backstraps allow you to customize it to your hand. I really cannot think of anything to dislike on the PPQ.
@grady74438 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I have heard from a number of people that the Steyr M9 is everything the Glock 19 or 17 should have been. Have you ever heard that & if so your thoughts please?

A few reviews are saying the PPQ has failure to battery issues, especially with steel cased ammo, whereas the 19 shoots anything.
@HammerStriker8 жыл бұрын
We have not had any issues with our PPQs, they have been just as reliable as the Glocks. However, we do not feed them steel or aluminum, we only use steel in the AKs but not in other guns as steel and the lacquers used to prevent corrosion can cause issues in tighter tolerance chambers. We do use a wide variety of quality in brass from good defense ammo to cheap Perfecta and Winchester White box and they just work.
@8triagrammer8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I love the PPQ, but for SHTF purposes it looks like the G19 is the choice because it can run shitty ammo...
@HATINTHEKAT7 жыл бұрын
during a range trip i shot about 250 rounds of steel through my ppq with no issues, it was a mix of mostly tula, some brown bear, and some wolf. ran it all just fine, i even said fuck it and shot about 50 rounds of brass right after to really test it and my baby ate it all up without a hiccup. it also shoots that federal and cci aluminum stuff equally well, maybe some others who report jams are over lubing or something? ive literally never had a jam yet in my ppq in the thousands of rounds ive put through it, i mean i clean it after every trip and all, but im still amazed at that jewel.

I have shot a couple thousand steel cased ammo with my ppq 9mm. ZERO problem so far. Great great gun, way better than Glock in my opinion, I don't have the G19, but I've shot it and I do have the 42, 31 and 21. Ppq is just better.

Excellant video, I have had both for a couple of years, just switch from the gen 4 g19 to the PPQ, for my off duty carry. Started to develop feeding issues on certain types of ammo, with the G19 and my gen 4 g17, they are ammo sensitive. love the Glock we carry the gen 4 g22 on patrol, I just have issues carrying something that isn't going to shoot anything I fed it, the Walther has been flawless and I will take the g19 and g17 in to get a deatailed cleaning and to get looked at.
@HammerStriker8 жыл бұрын
The PPQ is a great gun with an awesome trigger. If previously well-behaved Glocks (or really most semi-autos with a similar mechanism) that are clean and properly oiled start to develop feed issues the most likely culprit is the recoil spring assembly. Over years or rounds down the pipe, the springs will slowly weaken and feed issues will be one of the first symptoms.
@elir99908 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the reply, I will replace the recoil springs.
@HammerStriker8 жыл бұрын
Hopefully that will get you back up and running. It's also a good opportunity for a full cleaning - you can completely disassemble a Glock with one tool (Glock Disassembly Tool).
@wen2jr8888 жыл бұрын
replaced my glock 19 when it was stolen with the PPQ M1 because of it's trigger and the grip I didn't have to go to the aftermarket to make the trigger work for me.the rear sights are windage adjustable not height adjustable. both are great guns if I can find a second gen glock 19 I would buy it if I have the money as I like the gun.
@mestils77118 жыл бұрын
How about recoil most people say its bigger with PPQ and in videos it looks bigger plus Glock gen 4 has even further reduced recoil do to new spring. Probably becaus PPQ has higher barel axis.
@HammerStriker8 жыл бұрын
In 9mm and .45, the PPQ felt recoil is nearly the same as the equivalent Glock. In .40 the PPQ doesn't handle recoil quite as well as some other guns like it but still is quite reasonable.
@whowantstogetgoodido8 жыл бұрын
Not true at all. I shoot my buddies glock 19 next to my M1 often. Both are stock. And the glock 19 has WAY softer of a recoil. Being the Q was my first pistol, ive learned to handle it well, but holy crap when I grip up that glock the same way as my Q, the glocl doesnt move. Much faster follow up shots. I was impressed. Not as accurate, but much better control. While not to say you're lying, I think their might be some inconsitancies somewhere. Too many people disagree on it.

@paulx27778 жыл бұрын
You said the PPQ sight was plastic? I don't think so. My rear sight sure looks like steel to me. I can't be sure what the front was as I now have an aftermarket tritium, but I think the stock front was steel too. One extra point about the rear, is that it is better for one-handed racking than the rear Glock sight (which has some taper to it). I also like having more "air" on the PPQ sight, as these are not target guns.

I was worried because a man said That the Walther slide Is very stiff and have the muzzle flip of a .45.Maybe he have used +P rounds.Im very happy to learn That it Is not the case.The serrations at the end probably helps to rack.All people said That the Walther Is the Most confortable gun they have ever used.Is it your case?Thanx very Much
@HammerStriker7 жыл бұрын
+Teeroo Sam The PPQ is very comfortable to hold and use. The .40 version of it has a bit of twist and flip but I have not found the 9mm to be like that. I had Hammer compare the G19 to the PPQ and he says the PPQ is a bit heavier than the G19 to rack but he did it easily. I have powerful hands and arms so I am not always the best at noticing slight differences in pull weight, but Hammer is more typical of most people. Most gun stores will let you rack them, try a PPQ, G19 and a Walther CCP side by side if you can. If you are willing to go down to.380, the Walther PK380 is super easy to rack and very low recoil.

@HammerStriker8 жыл бұрын
Thank-you. I have seen that quite a few of the aftermarket accessories take that single-slot into account. They all want their add-on to work on Glocks so that they can gain access to that large market base.

I rented the gen4 19, ppq, & sig p320 compact all in 9mm at the indoor range to see which one I wanted. I was a little miffed to find that the gen4 19 had a little noticeable less recoil than the others. But the ppq definitely had the best trigger & the sig was second. Not buying a range gun so I probably will go with the gen4 19. A number of people have told me the 19 is the AK of pistols. I have an AK so that means something to me.

The longer overhang in the back might suggest that from a profile perspective, but if you look at one in real life they are quite nice looking. Either the PPQ or the FNS would be a great choice, the trigger on the PPQ is unbeatable but the FNS's trigger nearly as good.

Im 5'9 160lbs and I have no problems carrying the 19 concealed EDC. I do feel like it is probably the largest pistol I can carry comfortably, which is why I'm hesitant to get a PPQ. I know the trigger is great, but not enough for me to have a redundant pistol that has less utility for me. I'd like to try to CCW the ppq just to see.

i dont carry either. call me a (biden voter/queer) but i carry a springfield xds subcompact 45 or a taurus 605 in .357 - i HAVE caried both however. and i will say this. If you need rounds on target quickly. That ppq gets the job done. i dont plan on using the g19 for carry or bedside or house anymore when i have ppq . it was a sweet suprise. i prefer smaller for carry unless i know im going into a fucked up place. and by smaller i mean a 6 shot 45 acp or a 5 shot 357.
